Re: Reaction: What are Your Thoughts on Nintendo Switch Online?

Claytonbob

I rarely play online but like to have the option when it crosses my mind. My daughter plays Splatoon 2 quite a bit. Guess it’s a family plan for me. Still reasonably priced but wish the $20 would cover one concurrent user as I only have 1 Switch. So because she has her own profile I guess the family plan is what I have to get. Sure I’ll take the free games and will play them. I do lament the loss of VC. I think it’s a poor choice. I would love to have a large back platform list of games I could take with me everywhere I go. I’d also like to play MARIO Sunshine again some day.

Re: New And Improved Left Joy-Con May Be In The Works

Claytonbob

I sent both of my left joy cons back. If I kicked back and my knee or foot got in between it and the Switch it wouldn’t respond to stick movement or button presses. They “fixed” them and sent them back in a week for free. I’ve only noticed an issue once since then. So they are better.

Re: Customise Your Nintendo Switch With These 'Safe' Console Skins

Claytonbob

I’d like to see a review first. They look cool but online reviews of the company weren’t so hot. Mostly people saying it takes them days to ship. Also will the joycons still fit in the grip afterwards? I’d like to see Mario, Yoshi, Bowser, etc joycons made by Nintendo. I’d drop $80 for another set, because I’m nuts.

Re: Site News: So, Where's Our Nintendo Labo Review?

Claytonbob

We’ve built the RC Car and fishing game. My kids like to punch out the parts but have me assemble them. It’s probably for the best. I’m amazed at the quality. It’s cardboard but the builds feel really solid and it’s crazy to hear cardboard parts literally click when you put them together. The fishing game is also extremely accurate. How they do it is beyond me. The software is a bit quirky requiring you to go thru the tutorial for each user who wants to play. It also requires you to go thru a lot of text dialogue to show you how to use the advanced features of the RC Car. Ok for kids but I wish I could just get the highlights without the dialog. Overall it’s fun, my kids like it, and I’m impressed with what those crazy folks at Nintendo can come up with.

Re: Nintendo Download: 25th January (North America)

Claytonbob

I’m starting to feel like the eshop is just like the Apple App Store. Maybe some of these games are good but how do you tell. It’s just a ton of seemingly low budget titles. I’m not complaining, but it seems like too many to be honest.

Re: Nintendo Direct Mini Is Happening Right Now

Claytonbob

A little warning would have been nice. O well, nice lineup. My wallet hurts already. Most interested in the Hyrule Warriors, Kirby, Mario Tennis, and Rabbits expansion. I already have Tropical Freeze. I’m not familiar with the third party offerings but will look into them.

Re: Rumour Buster: That New Switch Firmware 5.0 Leak Is Amazing, But Fake

Claytonbob

We get excited because we want these improvements to the system. All are quite reasonable. I love Nintendo but sometimes they can be so slow at adding in these types of things. Rather than spending effort to get this stuff off the internet why not spend it on giving the fans what they want? Anyone remember the Netflix disc for Wii, yet the Switch can’t do it.

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

Claytonbob

I enjoy the original games the most. I like the simple, gotta catch em all. Now there are like a thousand Pokémon that’s too many. Will there be 10,000 some day? Also the mega evolutions, z moves etc seem too much. I just want to catch them, train them, and battle them. I have Moon, I like it, but it had too much of that. Then I found some castle village and had no idea what to do with all that so I just ignored it all. Still fun but would be happy to go back to a simpler model.

Re: Feature: Memorable Games of 2017 - The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Claytonbob

I’m surprised at the comments as well. I thought it was great, different sure, but I’ve been losing interest in the old formula. This is the first game since Skyrim on XBox that I’ve invested huge amounts of time in. It still has twice the hours on my Switch than Stardew Valley and Skyrim. I would like a reimagining of Ocarina of Time in the future but still hope the next game is like Breath of the Wild.

Re: They'll Sure See You Coming With These Super Mario Switch Quick Pouches

Claytonbob

Your comment about troubled looks is right. Why is it anyone who likes video games especially Nintendo get troubled looks? No one is embarrassed by their Gucci bag or Starbucks cup in their hand. No one rolls their eyes when someone’s coffee mug, shirt, and backpack show some sports team’s logo, yet if you have a Mario game case, people think your some crazy nerd or He’s too old for that.

Re: Stardew Valley Patch Targets Save Times, Bugs and Adds Video Capture

Claytonbob

Ive experienced several of these bugs. Mostly the the crash on save if certain tools were missing. I’d store non essential tools, make food in the kitchen then hit the mine. Make tons of riches then it would crash on save. Turned out the mix of missing tools and a gap in a storage chest caused by using the kitchen caused it. It was quite frustrating. Glad they fixed it.

Re: Nintendo Wants Everyone In Your House To Have Their Own Switch

Claytonbob

I may be open to two switches at my house but first need cloud saves and ability to access them from both switches and some way to purchase a game for both without paying retail twice. Not sure how that would work to keep people from gaming the system. Now I buy a game once and the family enjoys it. I struggle to see myself buying MARIO Odyssey twice.

Re: Anniversary: It's Been 10 Years Since Super Mario Galaxy Landed On The Wii

Claytonbob

I never got into Mario Galaxy. It was fun but going upside down confused me, do I push the stick up or down? I enjoyed Odyssey and beat it already, now I’m finding a lack of motivation to gather all the power moons. Honestly I wanted to be playing Stardew Valley this weekend but forced myself to beat Mario Odyssey. I did enjoy the ending of Odyssey and it was worth it.

Re: Soapbox: The Switch Has a Big Problem, and It's Too Many Great Games

Claytonbob

I haven’t finished the Zelda DLC or Mario + Rabbids. I broke down and got Stardew Valley which is great. Mario is on the horizon. Just finished Iron cast. Going to get Skyrim but hold till Christmas to open, Doom will have to wait till next year. The next round of Zelda DLC is coming soon. I’m buried in games. Good deal.

Re: Review: It's All Business as We Play Monopoly Gamer

Claytonbob

I was thinking of picking it up and instead of getting the power packs just using my amiibo for all the characters. I have a ton, might as well use them. Then I can make up my own abilities for Bowser Jr etc. maybe Marth or Samus drops in too, we'll see.

Re: Review: Namco Museum (Switch eShop)

Claytonbob

Sounds good but I still have the game cube version I can break out. Also it's hard to read the article from my phone with 13 ads and 2 plugs for NintendoLife on Facebook. Seems a bit extreme.

Re: Review: Splatoon 2 (Switch)

Claytonbob

Just got it, plugged it in, 7 year old says "I'm so excited" then we realize there is no form of split screen in any way. Sure the game may be good but nintendos new portable platform that's supposed to be shared with family and friends fails on splatoon 2 miserably for my family. I'm not spending $350 on a 7 year old so we can both play.
