I LOVE the gamecube controller, but these look a little...cheap. Also they're yet another wired controller, and I hate the way those 'work' on the Switch. Pass.
1. I will give you that the opening is fairly good. The rest of the story is just 'okay' - not bad, but pretty typical for the series, and unless they cleaned it up in redux the writing was a little rough at times. Again, not bad, but nothing I would consider 'top notch' personally. 2. Rating doesn't really mean anything for the quality of a game. 3. Not much to say here. Pretty typical series stuff - the game doesn't particularly mess anything up here or the like, so I don't really have any arguments. 4. Okay, I'm sorry, but this one just isn't true. The character was directly involved in battles way back in Shin Megami Tensei on the SNES. And if you mean first one that was brought to the west...I believe that's Nocturne, for the PS2.
Like I said, the game isn't terrible, but I just don't think it's all that fantastic either. I am glad the game came to the west though - too many things never make the jump and that's sad.
Some of the already existing Pokemon from Kanto have different sprites in the beta, too. Not too fond of the spreadsheet layout for looking at the different sprites, though.
Great, another thing where I have to wait impatiently for next year. Might get it for collection, but this doesn't interest me much - I loved yellow and was initially excited, but hearing the gameplay details - particularly the lack of wild battles, the motion controls, and the GO stuff - makes it clear that this is not something I would want to spend my time on. This is the kind of thing that should stay as a phone-mobile game.
...how about making articles that actually talk about the game itself if you're going to mention it? It's not like the link has any real information whatsoever, and some of us don't follow Japan-only PSVita news. Or any PSVita news.
Okaaaay, not stepping into THAT minefield of comments...rather, when I saw the image here the first thing I noticed was the funny expression. Lady clearly is not impressed by the clientele.
This is exactly the kind of thing I've been wanting for a while...but I can't afford it right now; I still need to get a pro controller so I don't have to split the joy-cons playing with my brother. R.I.P. my wallet.
Been a while since I've seen one of these kinds of games. They're usually not that great, and I'm not too interested, but it's sort of neat to see one after so long.
@Dualmask Oh yeah? I never quite got around to playing that one, but maybe I'll give it a go.
Despite it not being an RPG, and me not being much good and that style of game, I actually thought the gamecube action-based title was pretty fun to play.
Personally I like the gruff-n-tuff Pikachu voice for this setting. It'd be weird in a lot of other situations, but it's neat here. Just wish the movie would do that.
It's so weird to see diverse games from NIS when I still associate them so strongly with grid-based strategy. They just used to release so many of 'em...
Hey, remember when NL actually put things like 'it felt middling' or 'we really enjoyed it' as part of their review link on these pages, instead of just stating 'read our review' over and over with no variation? I miss that.
I think it's a pretty cool and interesting idea...it's fascinating, and doesn't have to appeal to all those people who can't be bothered with it.
I do have a pretty big problem with it, though: cost. I knew it would be the moment I saw it, but these thing are outrageously expensive for the materials. My best guess is that it has to do with the games being included - that would certainly explain it, though I think that a lot of games are a bit overpriced anyway.
Love the idea, hate the exclusivity that rises from costs and the fact it will likely only be supported by one or two games per creation. Due to this, the only one with much chance of being bought and tried by me personally is the piano, because I really like the piano and physical access to a good one is impossible for me.
I definitely want to give this game a shot - glad we finally got an official western release. I'm sure there'll be some frustrations, but I'm looking forward to giving it a try...eventually. Not sure if I can shell out for it right now.
Hearing people complain that it's not like the later SaGa games actually gets my hopes up a tiny bit (my expectations are rarely huge) because I didn't really like SaGa Frontier, and absolutely LOATHED Unlimited SaGa.
gasp A Nintendo Life article with the North American design that doesn't spend a chunk of it calling the design awful and ugly!? Honestly, I'm disappointed that this is an amazing development...
Anyways, cool-looking release. Although I wouldn't bust out a bunch of cash for a repaint something I already have at this point. I don't have that kind of loose change.
I can hear the endless beeping and constant requirements now. If I were going to put up with that, I would much rather have an old-school Digimon v-pet.
GAH he looks like someone took his SOUL. Look at those dead eyes...and the mouth looks super weird that way.
It kinda fits well with the Ocarina of Time clothes up above, but the rest? No thank you. I'm not against a less cell-shaded style in the future - I loved both Twilight Princess AND Windwaker, not either/or - but removal of the filter here is not a good thing in my eyes.
Hard to have nostalgia when Misty looks like an alien now. I'll admit to not being a fan of the new art style for this season anyways, but seriously, Misty barely looks like the same person...
Guh - Nashville? NASHVILLE? Holy crap, we're getting a comic con soon and that next year. Things are actually happening in this state. And here I thought it was just fireworks and the music festival. Still pretty dull in parts of the state that aren't Nashville, Chattanooga, Gatlinburg, etc.
The hate for sweet potato is crazy. People don't seem to realize that Japan's purple sweet potato is a very different flavor from western sweet potato. The Japanese one is more of a sweet flavor often seen in snack items, rather than the savory-sweet dinner item we're used to.
EDIT: Saw a minor typo and it bothered me, so I fixed it.
I almost feel like this game needs two ratings - one for newcomers, and one for everybody who is used to the PC makers. For newbies, I give it a 4/5. For people used to the PC version, I give it a 2/5 - it's pretty inadequate if you aren't new to the mechanics and such, but it's a great starting point because it's fairly simple.
...Sprite-styled? Must look very different in motion compared to just the screenshots, then. (I'm not able to watch videos at the moment, so I can't check)
Breath of the Wild is good and some of the bad reviews I've seen are downright absurd - but I don't want it to become the primary standard. It's a great game, but it isn't as fun to me overall as many of the previous ones, and I wouldn't put it in my top five favorites. Keep the good stuff; leave the rest for game-specific gimmicks and nuances.
Meh. I like character creation, but I don't think it belongs in this series...just like we don't need endless classic Sonic thrown in modern Sonic games...and we really don't need those wisps again...oh well. I'll still get it eventually, but I don't have high expectations.
Unless this thing really surprises me when we get actual proper gameplay videos and details, I don't trust Natsume and probably won't bother with this game. I'll just wait for more Story of Seasons, thanks...and Stardew Valley, naturally.
It has some merit. Even if you play through the cups, there are typically still a whole bunch of parts left to get, and not all of us regularly play online. This cuts down some work, particularly for those of us who already invested many hours getting all the stuff in the Wii U version.
Too bad I can't actually watch the video because of my limited data. I hate seeing articles like this that don't explain or summarize anything in text.
I thought it had a promising chance before if it was actually given the chance to air, like how Transformers Animated was actually really good despite the knee-jerk 'what is with that style' feeling. Now? The changes made after the first round of complaints look awful.
