so it is worse than the OG on 360. wow. the fact that the framerate drops as low as 12fps is insane, no wonder why it shadow dropped in the eshop, it is just a bad port
@RiasGremory go take a look on falcom dedicaced forums, you will see a lot of people complain about random crashes and poor performance. it literally happened when i tried them on my switch, are you implying i am making stuff up?
@Vil i have the official YS anime somewhere in my pc, even has the rare english dub. Older YS games were really difficult, i had trouble completing YS 3 on sega genesis
pass. cold steel 3 and 4 were awful ports on switch, i cannot trust them. i had a ton of crashes and freezes/lags with cold steel 3 on switch, so i really cant trust engine software at all when it comes to switch ports.
@Mgalens cold steel 3 was terrible, 4 was acceptable and YS IX ran poorly overall during the raids or in the town, so basically 50% of YS IX ran bad on switch. The company behind the ports is engine software BV. they have also done ni no kuni 2 and that game too, was awful on switch. So given that reverie revisits crossbell, and that it ran awful on switch in cold steel 3 and 4, i wouldnt hold my breath for reverie.
how is it a remaster when it's based off the ps3 release, which was based off the ps2 one, which was a downgraded version from the gamecube which ran at 60fps instead of 30?
so... why can't we order a physical copy again? like, we're close to the release yet we can't pre-purchase the physical edition. Even the falcom games, are available to pre-order and most of the release at the end of 2023
SMTV runs so poorly on Switch that it shouldn't be surprising to anyone that this game skips the platform. They aren't lazy if the hardware they are given is difficult to optimize for. Sometimes all that extra amount of effort needed doesn't pay off in the end. I'm sure it's gonna sell well on pc and atlus is probaly satisfied with this decision.
For me, graphics don't need to be "ultimate quality" or "ultra realistic" BUT, when textures are so bad, you can compare it to games from pre-playstation 3, there's a problem. Same goes for performance. I feel like the next switch should ABSOLUTELY target 60fps by any means necessary. 30fps feels janky once i made the full time switch to pc. Higher refresh rate matters a lot to me because it reduces the latency. I'm in a spot where if the next switch still targets 30fps, i'm out. I feel like nintendo should make the switch to a custom ryzen chip in order to offer compatibility with AMD's FSR or stay with nvidia and create a chip that allows DLSS. These would help a lot in boosting performance in games.
it's not happening. by multiplatform they probably mean "excluding switch". or they'll release a spinoff of a game people can't play on the switch and proceed to wonder why it's not selling.
like seriously, it's like atlus is desperately trying to force people to not buy their stuff on switch. Persona 5S, i heard didn't do well on switch and pc because those platforms don't even have P5, the games that ties into p5S directly.
for me, anything below 60fps is unplayable. once i got a taste of smoother performance i just couldn't go back. i honestly think the next nintendo console should prioritize 60fps+ over anything else
indie 2d games shine on switch, because they don't have cutbacks and they're 60fps. 3d ports are awful on switch for the most part
What bugged my mind was why port jumpforce over code vein or at the very least scarlet nexus? Seems like porting jumpforce really didn't bring enough sales. They should just port what people want
there's something really funny in seeing console owners argue about the pricing of online gaming when you don't have to spend a dime for that on pc and games are also much cheaper sooner.
i never understand why anyone puts up with that, online gaming shouldn't cost you anything regardless of the platform.
as for the downvotes, it's deserved. it's a bad product poriod and nintendo doesn't even offer 1/3rd of the functionalities you have on ps and xbox
@GameOtaku that's because it runs off Unreal engine and the fact that they considered the hardware early in development. It changes Everything. Downgrading 50gb collections isn't exactly as straightforward as people think.
The first hd games were made for ps3 and ps3 games are insanely difficult to port on Switch. There is a reason why ni no kuni wasn't the remaster
@GameOtaku very few will go the extra mile. Especially big publishers like SE. The reality is they probably wanted the KH games ready for 2022 but were told by most porting studios they couldn't do it in under 2 years of development which would lead to mid 2023. That's two years of development to pay for and it's simply too much money to sink for their liking. It's how business always worked and it's not about to change.
You should already know Nintendo is the company publishers want to put the least effort in. It's been like this for many generations
@ModdedInkling wrong. The switch IS using mobile hardware. The X1 architecture is based off ARM, the mobile architecture, the same architecture that apple uses for their new mac pcs now. The RAM is also LPDDR, RAM made exclusively for mobile devices. It's not the same caliber as desktop or laptop RAM.
The switch's architecture is nothing like Playstation, xbox or pcs and it's why ports are becomming less and less common.
@iaLgan it's not just about it running or not. This post literally explains it's a budget and time constrain. It would simply be too expensive and long to port this, not too hard. Believe it or not third party games sell "ok" on Switch, which is not enough for square to risk millions in investment
They have to be certain the costs will be returned which in most cases rarely happens with the switch and third party games
Ok so basically it's because of the cost and the fact that the switch has ARM instead of x86 architecture which makes the port even more difficult to pull off. In other words, none of this would have happened if the switch ran on a pc like architecture.
What would take 2 years to port would probably take anywhere between 8 months to a year. This is basically a direct consequence of Nintendo being the different manufacturer.
More stuff like this will happen and it'll only get worst from now on since next gen has started. Nintendo will now have to offer lots of unique content to make up for it
@TKundNobody no no no. The only "lazy" stuff here are the first KH games. Kh3 is understandable. Same for all the other games too. The switch wouldn't even be able to run 90% of this list in a decent way.
Only reason why the doom games work is because the engine is insanely well optimized to begin with. And witcher 3 once ironed out of bugs wasn't as demanding as people made it out to be. You could run witcher 3 on low tier hardware and still get decent performance on pc. It's no surprise the switch runs it
This is the first time where i see nintendo fans agree on something that actually makes sense.
This should have been like this way earlier but still. I game on pc and whenever a game is exclusive to epic, i don't buy it. I only invest in steam or GOG. It's important to vote with your wallet
@Darkyoshi98 no no no. The sad thing is not peoeple expressing their opinions on the quality but you trying super hard to damage control this port.
DF are lying? You good in your head? In what world is a downgraded wii game acceptable when the said hardware is much better? None.
This SHOULD have been 60fps. This SHOULD have been 720p in handheld and this SHOULD have been 1080p docked. But i guess with it being portable makes it ok to not be as good as it SHOULD?
@NinTasha fanboyism in a nut shell. No matter how unlikely what you say is gonna happen, you still live in your delusion thinking a ps4 and xbo game is gonna run better than on those platforms? Are you high?
There is literally ZERO ps4 port that run better on switch. All the bandai games run worse on switch. It's facts.
Don't like the truth? Next time don't comment if you have no idea what you're talking about.
@Xiovanni lol you can't expect people to be okay with 30fps in a competitive shooter by comparing it to a game released in 2004. that's decades ago, standards have evolved and people too.
and after that, people wonder why x game or x game isn't coming to switch. if they needed THAT amount of work for a switch specific game, imagine multiplatform games...
Nintendo still has the same main issue as with the wii/wiiu: it's a nightmare to develop on due to all the bottlenecks the platform has. this is why so many games never made their way to the switch

@Azuris that's because the switch is way less powerful than other platforms. 80mio users does not mean it's suddenly easier to release games on underpowered hardware.
@nhSnork all of this doesn't matter if the ported games have too many issues. i'm sorry but just because they crammed outter worlds on switch, it doesn't mean they're good. in fact outter worlds was actually a mess when first released on switch and it just proved everyone that virtuos is all talk and no bark. Obsidian themselves had to fix the mess.
So no, virtuos is not a great port studio, they lost their switch credibility with outter worlds.
Also, remember dark souls remastered? that port was in fact just a 1080p xbox 360 port with heavily compressed audio. they had the audacity to tell people they compressed the audio to keep a stable framerate. Guess what? modders patched it and framerate was still stable, so they were telling a bunch of BS
QLOC and saber may not have done the same amount of ports on switch, or even iron galaxy, but at least all of their ports are MUCH better quality than anything virtuos released so far. At they understand that quality is more important than quantity. Virtuos is all about quantity.

The switch uses mobile (phone) hardware while Playstation consoles use pc hardware
