Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Service With GoldenEye 007

Incredible that the Switch version didn’t get modern controls. The Switch is usually my platform of choice for retro games due to its portability. What was the problem with tweaking the ROM to add the extra option. What a ***** deal Microsoft and Nintendo did. One version has ***** controls but is the one with online multiplayer. The other has no online multiplayer but controls like a modern game. Why couldn’t they just give all features to both versions?

Re: Soapbox: If You Thought Last Year Was "Sad" For Switch, 2023 Might Be Hard To Handle

I couldn’t care less about Pokémon, and Xenoblade definitely is not for me. I like the combat in Bayonetta but find everything else about it very cringy, so didn’t buy that either. Given this, I think 2022 was the first year I didn’t buy a single Switch game, and it received minimal playtime compared to my PS5 and XSX. Still looking forward to Zelda and plan to replay BOTW after I’m done with Witcher 3 on XSX.

Re: Feature: Best Nintendo Switch Ports Of 2022

Not understand how an emulated port of games from the 80's and early 90's are included. Those should work flawlessly (as they do in most free emulators), and if they don't then it was a really mediocre job. Not sure how can you compare the amount of work done to port Nier: Automata or No Man Sky to Cowabunga Collection or Capcom Fighter Collection.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

@Ryu_Niiyama SW piracy has been an issue for as long as I remember. Unfortunately that’s something devs need to account for. At least the silver lining is that consoles have been hard to pirate for a few years (with the exception of the Switch). Not saying I condone it by the way, I own all 3 current gen consoles and play each single game legit (buying or subscriptions). Agree that especially for smaller dev, it must suck tough. Too bad that anti piracy measures most times end up hurting the actual legit users, while pirates still find a workaround.

Re: Nintendo Isn't Happy About Switch Game Images On Steam

@Ryu_Niiyama i don’t think that’s the devs problem. They still get paid whatever they agreed for their work. Publishers tough, that’s a whole other matter. Still in this cases I wonder how much lost revenue this causes - what portion of the people who pirate it would have actually bought it?

Re: Bayonetta's OG Voice Actor Asks Fans To "Boycott" Third Game After PlatinumGames Wage Fallout

Casco

@BTB20 can’t believe you and others think 4K is a fair wage for someone that’s helped define and build the character for two previous iterations. Didn’t look the rest of your points. Yeah, I know this isn’t Call of Duty but still a franchise that would push quite a few units.

4K is ridiculous, unless it was a job that could be done in less than a week, including the actress preparation and everything.

Re: Nintendo Of America Criticised Over Treatment Of Part-Time And Contract Workers

Casco

I'm sorry, but temp labor and contingent workers are exactly that. Unless they were onboarded with the promise of their being converted to FTE's after some time, then they are getting what they signed on for. Companies typically use contingent workers for what they perceive as non-core functions, but unless stated explicitly as one of the expectations, there is not an obligation to hire the contingent worker.

In fact, in many cases, it is the vendor who will not allow the customer (Nintendo in this case) to hire the contingent worker, via a non-solicitation clause in their agreement or even a non-compete clause in the individual employment contracts.

Re: Video: Switch Online Could Learn A Lot From Xbox Game Pass

@Anti-Matter good for you. Most of us that have access to it can heavily enjoy it. And guess what? You can still buy your favorites, but get to play those you’re curious but wouldn’t necessarily buy. Shocking, right?

Most suck tough, as you mention you don’t play AAA games, and only kiddie/indie games. Many of them are not even offer digitally (and if they do, it is months after launch). Seems you’ve put yourself in a tough spot!

Re: Talking Point: Should The Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack Library Expand Faster?

Casco

Compared to what Microsoft does with their backwards compatibility, this is plain ridiculous. Xbox 360 and OG Games performance is not only up to par to the previous console, but in most cases it is actually enhanced.

Meanwhile Nintendo gives 25 year old games poorly emulated? Yeah, doing the bare minimum for maximum return, the Nintendo Way. Outside of their AAA exclusives which are outstanding and always some of the best games ever, everything else is half-assed, full of lazy efforts.

Re: Here Are All The Winners From The 2021 Golden Joystick Awards

Casco

@Old-Red just what I was thinking. By elimination it would mean that RE. Village was better than the PS4 version of Psychonauts 2, but not than the Xbox Series X version. Therefore the XSX version of Psychonauts 2 should have been game of the year. Haha such weird awards

Re: Random: Xbox's 20th Anniversary 'Metaverse' Acknowledges The Time It Tried To Acquire Nintendo

@WallyWest Returnal is a niche game, the only reason it got so much exposure is because there wasn’t much else. Deathloop was a great game, I enjoyed it despite being a bit tired of it by the end. Kena isn’t in the same league as the others. Ratchet & Clank seems great and definitely in my list for the holiday.

Metroid dread is also one of the great games this year. But I didn’t buy anything else for my Switch.
