@Paraka There's a lot to play in Xbox man., Psychonauts 2, Forza Horizon 5, and hopefully Halo Infinite will make Xbox the console with the strongest first party offering this year. I own all 3 so as long as game is available for console I'm good - but I'll honestly say the Xbox is the one I've kept on the longest this year (it is also where I play my multiplatform games, unless I find a better deal for PS5, which rarely happens).
@WoomyNNYes I'm right there with you....the only reason I still hold my Switch it's because its exclusives...it stays dormant a good portion of the year. But if I could get Nintendo games on other platforms..........there would not be a need for a Switch in my case.
Obviously Nintendo knows this, which is why we'll never see this happen.
So you like Animal Crossing more than GTA....hmm ok, I like burgers and others like salads. What's the point of this article? I haven't touched either because I'm currently playing Forza Horizon 5....should I make an article of it?
Bought the game because of this review. Holy crap, what a game. At the end of the 2nd level where hordes of enemies start coming at you and heavy metal starts playing, I knew I did the right choice. Appreciate the recommendation!
Damn. With this I would reluctantly buy the N64 Switch Online tier. I just love this game so much.
Tried the leaked remaster earlier but it almost burned down my poor Surface Pro 6 (I don't own a gaming PC), would love a proper release for Xbox Series X
@Floki Good call about Alien Isolation, another example of how pointless this article is.
I am quite aware that it is fully the writer's choice, Captain Obvious, but I don't have to recognize the choices as good ones or the article as a quality piece. Far from it, completely pointless.
@Floki Still it wasn't an article about "undiscovered gems" but rather games that shine on an OLED screen. I would find it hard to believe that Donkey Kong Archives is a better use of the display than BOTW
Interesting that the system's best and one of the most gorgeous games (BOTW) is not included. Definitely that's a most for anyone buying the OLED Switch.
And for "Hades has never looked better", it actually has, the Xbox Series X and PS5 Versions running on a LG OLED would like to have a word with you.
@CharlieGirl I agree that this shouldn't be supported - if the allegations are true. But to be honest, we don't know what's the reality behind the studio's doors. It could be a few low performing employees that were cut and are just trying to sabotage the company like someone else already mentioned.
Unfortunately, people just hear one side of the story and automatically assume they are true. Would like to hear more about a representative portion of current employees and high performers.
@Zach1122 Sony did reverse their decision about Horizon 2 (forgot the name) PS4-PS5 upgrade due to fan backlash. Hope Nintendo can see they’re doing. In the meantime the best we can do is DO NOT BUY
@Shiiva true. But I Amazon, Disney+, Netflix etc have thousands of titles included in the subscription. This is a handful of 30 year old games. The analogy actually works opposite. Gamepass would be something that would most closely compare to the service you mentioned.
@Shiiva 30 year old games dude. And you don’t get to keep them. I don’t know how you can consider this is a deal.
If you could purchase the collection for 30, maybe that would be great. But as a subscription service for 30, it is a rip off. Imagine if Microsoft charged 30 more a year but you got access to Rare Replay….yeah I think Most people would rather buy Rare replay
So 30 a year over the standard membership for an emulator? Thanks but no thanks. If it was 30 dollars for a perpetual license to the collection then maybe, but for a subscription, this is insane.
What? There have been 1st person Open World games for ages, never heard of Skyrim? Open World games have also existed before the Wii, so it could have been done, just nowhere near the quality of the games we have today.
@Nintendo_Thumb technically would play best on an Xbox Series X. Not sure what a photo of a PS5 controller has anything to do with Mortal Kombat. MK11 is available anywhere, Xbox, switch, PS, PC, stadia. Etc
Well Gamepass/xcloud on computing platforms is on good for Microsoft would only be good for Microsoft and the consumers. Not so much for Nintendo and Sony who would miss on Software sells if they allowed if. As much as I would like to play my Xbox games on my Switch, I just don’t see why Nintendo would be compelled to make it happen
Is it me or did the game get too easy using the right stick for sword strikes? Literally I just spam it and am able to deal easily with every enemy. Same with bosses once I get into the hit window. Don’t think it was intended like this with motion controls
@sanderev funny you don’t count streaming as an option - if anyone lets you play anywhere (pun intended) is Microsoft. PC, cross-gen, smartphone, soon smart tvs. Nintendo is their way or nothing.
@Alex78 what i wonder is if it is truly any insider source or if it’s just speculation. With Nintendo for the most part it seems the later - like you said it’s a move that commercially makes sense so it’s not a wild guess. But these dudes often just say what they think and pass it up like if they really had insider info
Yeah....just like the Switch Pro with 4K capabilities was ready and announcement was imminent before E3 - we all know how that turned out. Isn't this guy the one that once the Switch OLED was announced, is now saying that the Pro is coming next year?
As much as I would like it to be true as I missed the original trilogy - don't believe much of these predictions. Their guess is as good as ours.
As much as I think price is a rip-off. I bought it, just finished the first dungeon and I must confess I'm really enjoying it. The art style is very unique, and a very clever way to hide the Wii's limitation. It looks more better when playing in the context on the game than in preview clips. Playing with my Switch Pro controller and haven't had much of an issue with the controls so far, except for occasional brain fart when I completely lose myself and press the wrong bumper for camera - but mostly ok, and having fun with moving the sticks to control the sword.
@mainstream05 And that’s why Nintendo can get away selling heavily outdated hardware for a premium price…..Nintendo’s practices make even Apple prices seem reasonable.
It's a rip-off, I don't know how this marginal update of an heavility outdated machine is worth 50 more than what the original was worth back in 2017. The Switch should be even cheaper to make now than it was back then - only Nintendo can get away with this kind of things.
Beating a dead horse......seems that twitter guy can't accept when he is wrong. By 2022 the Switch will be already 5 years old. Way to olate into the cycle to consider a mid-gen refresh. I think Nintendo is no thinking into the proper Switch successor.
I worry if the new bigger OLED screen will only make more apparent the Switch's limitations. for example, I found games like DOOM Eternal or Mortal Kombat 11 to be only a good experience in portable mode, while Docked mode really show all their flaws compared to other versions (I own the Xbox Series X Versions of both so really have no need to play either of those in docked mode).
I wonder if the new screen will only make the flaws more apparent.
@victordamazio You have covered perfectly......not sure we needed a full article trying to justify a worthless upgrade for people that already have one.
Well doesn’t seem that games will play any different from the current model. Guess I’ll be saving some money (unless mine breaks or eventually it is revealed that it’s actually more powerful)
@Dethmunk "As for the hate for the Amiibo implementation, what the hell? The whole point of Amiibo is to give the people who buy them some extra functionality and boost"
I think you got it wrong there chief, the whole point of the Amiibo is to lock functionality that could otherwise be included in the game behind the purchase of some "toy figures", so that we can squeeze some additional dollars out from gamers that would otherwise not be interested in buying them.
@Dethmunk look at Nier Replicant and then look at this. Both were originally released around the same time - which one do you think was put more effort and care to re-release. Hint: it’s not Zelda.
Nier replicant has updated textures, lighting, revamped fighting mechanics to match Automata. It looks closet current standards. Zelda looks…the same as it originally did
Disappointing that for full price they don't even give it facelift. Just boost the resolution, teak the controls and call it a day. Lazy as f... I can't believe that much smaller releases like Nier Replicant get updated to look like a modern game while Nintendo just keeps doing these zero effort releases.
Looks fun I think it does a great job of emulating that late 90's arcade racer vibe, while looking updated.
However, owning an Xbox Series X as well and with Forza Horizon 5 coming up around the same time, I just don't see why I would play this over Forza. I might get it further down the line depending on the price, but I think Forza Horizon will definitely be the one that will fulfill my racing games need for this year.
@Just_2_milky agree. I actually got The Witcher 3 for Switch. It was a god send for my business trip in late 2019 and very early 2020 (then we all know what happened). I had it on Xbox One X, but never got around to play it until Switch. It helped a lot especially as my Houston hotels had surprisingly crappy Wi-Fi coverage. This would have made a cloud version unusable.
Owning a PS5 and a XSX, I wouldn’t consider a cloud version of any game available in those platforms to be honest, but I’m always interested in native versions for the portability factor, even double dipping in some cases.
@NoTinderLife that’s a rumor that’s been going for ages….Apple hasn’t really been able to crack gaming or attract any of the AAA developers for the platform.
And doubt it’s a dedicated gaming device. They already have iPhones. This is just speculation. And even if Apple released it, they’re lacking any first party games. Or third party support (PS, Xbox and PC share similar architecture). They’d only have Indies - oh they already do!
I have spent thousand of dollars for gaming over the years, starting with the NES and currently PS5, XSX and Switch. I do not feel guilty in the slightest if I download a game I bought many years ago that I can no longer play or even a game that I missed back then that’s not currently available for sale.
If you ask me about hacking my Switch and loading pirate versions of currently available games, no I wouldn’t do that. But old games I have no issue about. Would I pay if they were available? Yes! Just as I did for my NES & SNES Classic, Mario 3D all Stars or switch online. But if not available and get a urge to play one retro game I’ll just hunt it down and load it on an Emulator with no regrets.
@Mr-Fuggles777 I would hardly call DOOM Eternal old. And yes it is now how’re near close as it would perform on a Xbox or PlayStation. But still. Playing it on mobile it’s quite impressive to have a game of that caliber.
