Re: Video: Alien Isolation Looks Better On Switch Than PS4, Says Digital Foundry

I don't really get what's so complicated to understand. You can ensure a successful line of products keeps on being sold by either:
1. make it become trendy (Nintendo's way)
2. fluffing about higher and cooler specs you absolutely need (not really, but that's the trick) not to be considered a caveman (Sony's way... well, that's also MS's way but I don't wanna get off topic). A more powerful platform will ensure you play your games better and will let (not really) more powerful games run on it too, then the cycle restarts.

What people often seem to forget is that a videogame is just something you have to have fun playing. Period.

A wise person once told me it's the consumers who ultimately set a product price. So this means either that:
1. Nintendo customers are ultimately stupid (I mean in their "herd" dimension of course, not taken singularly) or...
2. Beamdog considers them stupid.

While I can't deny that in every group of persons there always are some stupid ones, it would be interesting to investigate why Beamdog might consider Nintendo consumers that way.

Could it be because they usually accept any damn freaking crazy price?

@Boxmonkey there are whole websites like romhacking.net that distribute rom hacks, not hacked roms, you still need to apply the patches to the original roms. Nintendo can't do anything about them, but it could if they only distributed modified roms.

What Nintendo can do and is doing is to make rom distributing websites stop letting people download roms of Nintendo games.
There are very well known websites that now let you download everything but Nintendo roms indeed.

Re: The Witcher Netflix Series Secures A Second Season

@Jawessome it sure is, but nowadays kids watch whatever they want and their opinion ends up on counting too, although it shouldn't.

Afterall how many adults can waste their time on videogames? Very lucky few. How many had the chance to be attracted by the Witcher series? Even less.

Re: Amazon Clamps Down On The Sale Of Used Nintendo Games

@Crono1973 sorry, I had already sent my comment before I could complete it. Of course they have the right to check for the authenticity of a product, but this is because it's illegal to counterfeit a trademark.
What they can't do is to deny the resale of a "nintendo compatible" product just because nintendo didn't approve it.

Re: Amazon Clamps Down On The Sale Of Used Nintendo Games

@Crono1973
What you say would make sense if Amazon had any rights to approve or not the sale of Nintendo related products per se.
But they are Amazon, not Nintendo, hence such rights must have been given them by Nintendo itself. So Nintendo is behind all of this.
Anyway, falsification of their trademarks is already not allowed in any case for obvious legal constraints. This is why I think they did all of this for advantaging products that have a legit Nintendo license to sell (such as the suckish Hori products).

It's good I did it in time to buy a Yocktec controller which has a damn rumble, unlike all 3rd party Nintendo licensed controllers.

Cloud and microtransactions, that's the easiest way to profit 10 times more than what they'd get from the same game if it were just a "pay once" one, as they get money from lots of people, not just from those willing to pay 50-60 bucks a game.
I wish them luck with that, but they're sure risking to lose a customer here.
How about lowering the damn prices instead?

Re: Rumour: New Images Supposedly Show Sonic's Movie Redesign, But We're Not Convinced Just Yet

Sonic is just one among the countless franchises which I never totally found anything exciting in (and there are many famous ones in the Nintendo world too) but I have to admit it has lots of fans all over the world, so it does deserve some respect.
The problem is not with Sonic, but with Sega, not just because they aren't at the same level of Nintendo when it comes to marketing (Sonic couldn't keep up with the competition against Mario back in the nineties, let alone now), but for they don't even show respect for their customers, starting from payments on Android games that repeatedly go poof and going on with several attempts to finally get a retro console right.
Now, this movie which started with really B-A-D premises, doesn't really look like a good movie, but yet another awkward attempt to squeeze some more money off fans' pockets.
It seems like they're doing everything to ruin the good memories fans had of this character. Really, what the heck is wrong with Sega?
