@cicewe2514 I'm not talking about or justifying the action, all I was pointing out is that it's unrelated to SW. This is getting reported as if its an issue for the SW team when in reality its an issue for one modder and his youtube channel who happens to make videos on SW.
The content behind his patreon doesn't include any SW stuff afaik. As for hiding things behind a paywall, that's a fair discussion to have but not really the topic I'm discussing.
@jsty3105 I actually don't know what triggered it all. He's not the only creator to do such things, though I suppose given the number of views on some of his videos it makes sense why he may have been targeted.
The reality of the situation is that Second Wind videos aren't being taken down, it's just most/all modding videos from this one YouTuber which are getting copyright strikes (not just the SW stuff). There's a big difference, for the most part Second Wind is independent from Waikuteru. I'd be nice if the article actually reflected that.
@Meteoroid that still doesn't justify claiming things were randomly put together. The team may not be official, and has never tried to push to be seen as official but it has its own standards.
As for actually adopting mods, it's not impossible just unlikely as Nintendo's OS was not developed with that in-mind. It'd take an overhaul of their existing game launching framework as well as other real-world developments to allow it all. However, the big thing that gets in the way is their view on how they protect their brand and what impedes on it. Modding is just not within their interests.
"They don't just create a random collection of content and then stir it all up and a game is made. This process has not been followed in the creation of this fan-made content."
Unless you're in the development team it's best not to assume you know how things are done. Content is reviewed, evaluated, refined/rejected and often times scrapped as its being developed.
I want to see what an official remaster would look like, it makes sense to generate hype for Prime 4 as well and off the back of Dread being a success it'd be great for the series.
So it's a mario game that's advertised as a mario game but planned to not be a mario game? And then they try to profit off of it with gambling? It doesn't take much foresight to see how that would end up.
I've also experienced framerate issues with Dread during the latter half of the game (in boss fights) as well as common instability during Hyrule Warriors. I'd be fine with the Switch if it weren't for the fact that their own games often suffer in places.
I'd be perfectly fine with an upgraded switch that could at least maintain 1080/60 in something like Breath of the Wild which shouldn't require hardware that'd alienate the current hardware enabling new titles to at least run on it. Something like that I'd be fine using for the next couple of years and I don't think it's that unreasonable to ask for in 2021.
In the future, once 4K is a lot more widely used by console gamers Nintendo can come in with their next system that utilises that scaling technology they're looking into.
For the Switch specifically actual user accounts would be nice with passwords. It protects against accidental save deletion, access to games you don't want others playing (due to age ratings) as well as keeping payment details secured to that account. Plus account specific themes could be a thing. And of course the option to still request a password when paying is fine too.
Imagine trying to scalp a product that's barely worth getting in the first place. Hopefully these fools realise they're wasting their time and money only when it's too late.
@RupeeClock I'm aware of that, the LevelSensor file in the game's bootup.pack controls such things. It's used to level up everything from all types of weapons to enemies as well the weapons that enemies are holding. If you're interested in how the file works you can read it here: https://zeldamods.org/wiki/LevelSensor.byml
There's around 5 chests that are either unintentionally hard to get or impossible via normal means.
1. Hateno Village, in a pond east of Ton Pu Inn, contains a Purple Rupee. 2. East of Aris Beach, on the east shore, contains an Amber. 3. East of Aris Beach, in the water, contains an Opal. 4.East side of Rassla Lake, contains a Knight's Shield. 5. Upland Zorana, northwest of Toto Lake, contains a Soldier's Bow.
@CactusMan I get why you'd say that but I think it's just cooler to make a new item than locking a feature behind an amiibo that we all know will be hard to obtain.
It's clear that Nintendo are just looking to make money with more collectibles rather than enhance user experiences.
@CactusMan Amiibo should be like BotW or TP. Personally I'd do something like:
1) Link Amiibo - Changing Link's outfit (imagine a playthrough in his Skyloft Clothes). After unlocking the item you get normal drops. 2) Enemy Amiibo - Enemies dealing double damage, have double health or just move faster. Use it again to toggle it on/off. 3) Zelda Amiibo - Rare Drops once per day and any other Zelda amiibo gives random drops (health, rupees, etc). 4) Any other Amiibo - Random Drops
Def not a fan of this move. Locking a feature that could easily have been a new in-game item behind a paywall, making it the only amiibo that works with the game and making it more expensive than usual seems like the worst combination possible.
Nintendo could have easily made some sort of Gale Item with a recharge time, then made it one of the later rewards in the boss rush mini-game.
@RupeeClock It's certainly a lot more restrictive than it appears.
Tbh the video wasn't meant to blowup the way it did, rather it was just a small way of showing how to give the impression of crafting meals. It wasn't even meant to be a showcase of Second Wind but there's not much to do about it now.
@Medic_Alert @locky-mavo In the event that Nintendo does do something about it we can just do things differently. Second Wind doesn't need to be one big project; it's like that currently because it's easier to make. Different people can release different parts of the projects under different names.
That being said, I'm just doing it for fun. Even if we can't share it I'll still do bits and pieces privately for myself.
@RupeeClock It's not really the same. If you wanted to make an NPC that sells foods for example (like a restaurant) you wouldn't be able to do it with the current systems in place. It requires a hybrid solution to get that working.
Also the importance isn't in the fact that we can craft potions but rather that this way of doing things adds other possibilities.
@GalacticBreakdown thanks for the heads up, I did figure that out myself as well haha.
@RupeeClock actually you can't use the crafting system in-game to make food. Food uses a cooking system instead, this happens when you speak to NPCs as well, they "cook" the food they give to you.
@sanderev I see this comment a lot but I don't really get the logic behind it. I'm not looking to make new games, become a game designer or make my own studio (at least not now). I just want to do something cool in Zelda and share it with others who also want to experience that.
Not sure who stole from Nintendo though, the files we distribute don't contain any game files, we specifically got a format made to avoid that.
If they pushed Bowser's Fury as a digital only download for a quarter of the retail price I'd probably get that. Otherwise I'll wait till the game is heavily discounted (which likely means getting it second hand later down the line).
The only way I'd justify more than one system per household is if there was a way to share games (even downloaded ones). Having to pay for the same game multiple times (primarily multiplayer titles) is a displeasing prospect.
@FredsBodyDouble to be fair I think keeping it like is was intentional to appeal to those who grew up with the original game. Not every game needs to have the latest visual as long as it plays well and is a smooth experience.
@sixrings funnily enough I really enjoyed that game, the multiplayer was something I'd often spend a lot of hours on and the music def had that cinematic quality with the way it shifted depending on who was winning.
@chronicles yeah the new updates to Cemu consolidated a lot of options and added a few new things as well. Be sure to check out the mod scene, there are a couple of decent content mods out there worth using.
With Cemu it's already possible to do all this and more. Simply having the game running at a constant 1080p/60fps is nice though and the increased render distance that can be achieved helps a ton.
@durr actually it was the article that did that (not the quote) and even then I already addressed that point in another comment plus it doesn't negate anything I've said so far.
@Tulio517 I'll admit that I didn't know (I know nothing of the game). Though my comments were more for the practice in general rather than this specific instance.
For this scenario, it's kind of weird that after all this time, with a high enough userbase that nobody sat down to get this done sooner.
@Guybrush20X6 that's what I'm getting at; it is wrong and under normal circumstances it's not something a dev should be doing but the lack of accessibility features in the design is a producer/director fault so ultimately this whole situation is on them.
The comment is a bit distasteful but the core argument makes sense. Any work that is required for a project; especially something that requires additional modes, text, and other changes requires a suitable amount of resources to produce.
It's not as easy as flicking a switch but accessibility features should be part of the mid-rim design nowadays anyway so it's less the devs fault and something the directors should have thought of instead.
If the new content was a bit meatier I'd probably consider getting the game right away, but I think I'll wait for a sale. Aside from that it does look interesting.
@johnvboy I haven't played this demo yet so I was speaking in general terms. As for the Switch itself I never use it as a handheld, I much prefer console devices and if I want to get the best/smoothest Zelda/Metroid/Mario experience the only other thing I can do is play on PC (which isn't always easy given unique control schemes).
I see nothing wrong with wanting a sharp and smooth experience. Expecting some standards is something most should aim for rather than being content with anything.
I think the only real reason to do this is because a 30% cut of nothing is still nothing. Sucks to see because some of those free titles were actually quite entertaining and I wouldn't have played them otherwise.
@GrandScribe I think the issue is that the idea of hate speech can mean something different depending on who you ask. For example someone might take me pointing this out as potential hate speech whilst others probably only refer to the stuff you mentioned in your comment.

@jsty3105 it's worth noting that Second Wind isn't even related to his Patreon.
Also @Liam_Doolan the source article was updated to clarify there's no relation between SW, it's team and all this.
