Hoping Switch 2 visuals come later like the Amiibo are.

US only so far, which is a shame. If it appears in the UK I’ll probably finally go for it and have it all self contained. Watched Switch 2 videos and it runs with zero issues (locked 30fps) and faster load times.

They seem to be upgrade path'ing existing titles [such as Dragon Quest III today] as free updates, but outright refusing to for upcoming titles. Just a shame the physicals aren't physical [barring the retail pricing being competitive compared to eShop].

The Bioshock games look really good on Switch 2. Somewhere like NintendoLife need to put together a list of games that have variable resolutions and as a result automatically look better on the Switch 2.

Was this game every originally revealed as a visual novel, with about 20% of actual game play? I don't remember that pitch personally.

Picked it up at the start of the console’s life, still have it physically thankfully.

Expect to see Switch Sports console bundles come Black Friday / Holiday season. That and MK8D with Booster Pass included perhaps.

I do feel that the release window of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet may have pushed for this to happen also. The Christmas/Holiday window was far too cluttered and could have stolen the thunder from certain titles. This way it gets some room to build its own marketing hype.

The coolest part of this guide which Nintendo themselves should have provided by now in greater quality are the model shots photographed as level maps. If anything they should be behind glass in a Nintendo Store or at Nintendo World.

Are people still going on about textures and detail for tracks that work out to be fifty pence each? 48 tracks for the cost of half a game? Even the MIDI has been fed through a more modern system and cleaned up. People really can’t (or should I say shouldn’t) grumble!

Is it just me, or is the new MIDI'ed versions sound a little hollow in comparison? It might be my nostalgia glands kicking in, but the older and fuzzier versions when listened to sound like they all the notes blend together. Whereas now there are clean gaps between notes and instruments. It's more authentic yes, but it's also emptier at the same time.

Would it not be Ctrl + C, followed by Ctrl + V...

Nintendo had never abandoned Mii's... they're in Switch Sports, Miitopia, Smash Bros... this whole story you have seems odd.

I keep thinking this is already out, and check to see if it's on offer, before it's even out... not sure whether that makes me excited, or that I'm just dreading the price...

@westman98 No it'll just be that there is a link on the website for a Switch version and its review etc.

Surely we've known for about six months that the console is "mid-cycle" now... and that doesn't mean a "pro" model of the current console still isn't on the cards once chips are more readily available like the OLED was meant to be.

@Don technically we kinda have thanks to LEGO Dimensions, it even had a song for its credits. But a Valve full blown third outing won't be happening similar to Half Life. They don't like trilogies.

Really surprised the Steam Deck wasn't Aperture Science branded to be fair.

I wonder if ironically this move by The Pokemon Company is what moving Nintendo to do what it has been doing the last few days. Maybe the plan moving forward is to provide this kind of access when releases occur and to not wedge them onto platforms like Spotify/Apple Music.

@victordamazio they did provide Link in his BotW outfit and bike as post DLC for both versions to be fair.

And this is why people presuming the MK9 that's "in development" thinking it'll be coming any time soon, are deluded I'm afraid. It'll be 2023 at the earliest.

Monolith really needed to help GameFreak out (via Nintendo) with the engine on this game to make the textures and so on look better. They helped with the polishing of Breath of the Wild, they could have with this to make it look and perform as well as it has the potential to.

I think Nintendo will like the marketing potential of the sequel being a 5th anniversary release of the original title. 2022 looks good.

Surely sequels are always in some kind of active development? Doesn't mean it's coming any time soon.

Won't happen, will just be further files from the XBLA leak that occured.

Just preordered the collector's edition of this for £62 and free postage compared to the $119 (when converted that comes to £89 and is before postage even) asked for on the official website.

@Hwatt the 2017 awards had a 'premiere' of Breath of the Wild despite having a previous reveal at E3. TGA was the 'premiere' of the name and story.

The Game Awards is so desperate to be the BAFTA's of the gaming world, focussing on gritty story and atmosphere instead of the fun and joy of gaming. All these Last of Us musical performances and so on will probably bore a lot of the audience. People want trailers, some awards here and there, and some light-hearted fun. This is gaming, not the oscars. Stop trying to be something you aren't.

@romando patches and incremental updates such as seasonal events may still occur, but Ver 2.0 and Happy Home Paradise were the last main updates yes. In the same way Welcome Amiibo and Happy Home Designer were on 3DS.

So just over 1 in 4 people playing Happy Home Paradise are playing due to NSO Expansion Pack. I would imagine that’s a number Nintendo will be very happy with, given that’s without including people who got it for N64 and Mega Drive / Genesis anyway.

Lazy would imply they're scrimping on their work. When the truth of the matter, especially with the Pokemon Company, is that they are capable of far far more but just don't want to. They'll blame dev team sizes, when the budget is there to hire more people. They'll blame the software and resources, when Nintendo are on the other end of a phone (as are companies like Monolith who helped with Breath of the Wild and Animal Crossing when Nintendo needed extra people). At the end of the day, there is always room for excuses and "reasons"... when also at the end of the day, there is a company capable of far far more.

Why didn’t they just patch it to work offline with no further updates? The dev team’s work would at least be acknowledged long term then.

@westman98 exactly, the internet and social media basically means no one can ever win in these situations. It’s never good enough now. It won’t stop the mainstream causal audience from enjoying it however. Which is the larger demographic anyway.

@Stocksy it’s not fanboy, it’s mature. That would be like saying “boy I wish they’d not held ideas back from Back to the Future to make a trilogy!”. The strength of future games is just as important as the current one. Otherwise people will then whine about future installments being too similar. Otherwise there’d never be a sequel to anything, ever.

So basically exactly what was done with Animal Crossing New Leaf. A free “Welcome Amiibo” update (Version 2.0) with Happy Home Designer as a side game (Happy Home Paradise in this case). Nothing out there or shocking really.

And yet no matter how many enthusiasts dislike a YouTube video, there are still millions of casual gamers who will be too busy playing these games with their kids and partners for the first time to even notice and/or care. And I'm sure Nintendo, as much as all these headlines aren't positive, will just see them as further exposure for the product for casuals to buy it from. Any news, is good news.

I've unlocked the Metroid Dread theme for Tetris 99, played a bit of Animal Crossing again preparing for the update, and then had some fun with OoT and SM64 on the Expansion Pack service. Not too shabby for a Saturday!

I've spoken to Retro Six in the UK, and not only do they now have replacement shells for Nintendo controllers such as GameCube, but they plan on creating replacement shells for the consoles themselves. They're the ones to keep an eye on. 👍🏻

@Gedgenator I don't see why voice chat in this day and age is such a big deal. What with WhatsApp, Discord, Twitch, etc being there on multiple devices it is so so easy to setup a group voice chat for any platform being played on.

@RavenWolfe81 Upcoming drops would be revealing content they probably want to keep secret though for the time being. But I understand why it would make it more financially appealing.

@thinkhector I would presume they will be using the non "Gay Bowser" ROM globally, so I'm not sure if the American file had that removed already.

@WhiteUmbrella that's a very good point... 10 pence per day is nothing is it. People spend £1.29 on a McFlurry and don't bat an eyelid... so less than 3 McFlurry's a month sounds even more amazing for multiple games and content for AC so far.

@RavenWolfe81 I can't see GameCube or Dreamcast ever coming due to the size of games being collectively held in a single application. And cloud streaming just doesn't work and wouldn't be appreciated similar to Kingdom Hearts.

@Vyacheslav333 Yeah, which is only the same as Microsoft and Sony offering 12 month options that work out cheaper than monthly... the difference being, neither Sony or Microsoft are £3 a month in any shape or form.

@Clyde_Radcliffe Yeah, and they're inevitably enough to be adding further DLC 'expansions' too when games such as Splatoon 3, Breath of the Wild 2 and Pokemon Arceus come along for example. Animal Crossing will just be the start. And all for less than a Starbucks coffee a month.

@Vyacheslav333 No as in when you break down the amount (divide it by 12) it equates to only £3 just paid upfront.
