Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A's Switch 2 And Switch 1 Prices Have Been Revealed

Avol

As always, I do realize that the strength of the dollar, and a whole other bunch of economic factors means that everyone is -generally- paying the same amount across the board, but as a Canadian, seeing the Switch 2 price tag for the game being $110 before tax absolutely hurts and means I'm definitely not going to be buy the vast majority of games new, if any. I honestly feel like the +$100 price tag sticker shock for S2 games in Canada means that the S2 isn't going to sell as well as it may elsewhere - even though yeah, I do know the S2 is going to sell like hotcakes overall

Re: Gorgeous 'Trails In The Sky' Remake Gets September Release Date

I don't neeeeeddd ittttt. One it's another JRPG that I just don't have time for (finishing up Baten Kaitos Origins, and then heading into Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and then Xenoblade Chronicles X), and then I also couldn't get into the game when I played it on PSP - basically couldn't wait to finish the game

But it looks so pretty and I was always itching to try the game again.

Except the black notebook quest - I missed the one that's only available for about 2 screens during a -very- intense part of the story and I got so mad about it I restarted the entire game

Re: Opinion: Against All Odds - Why Does RPG RNG Hate Me?

Avol

Especially as I get older, and my free time shifts elsewhere, I've definitely cut down on grinding for things like weapons/armors/titles/etc. Usually what I do is since I know at this point in my life there's going to be very few games I'll end up replaying, I try to do as much as I can in one playthrough to maximize my time and fun with the game. Games in the Tales series I'll use a guide to make sure I do as much as I can in one playthrough, but I won't generally do grrindathons in those games for just one title or something like that. It's a decent balance that has worked well for me!

Re: Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster Launches On Nintendo Switch This September

@babel116 "There is no additional content added for this title. This is a remastered title that combines two games, Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean and Baten Kaitos Origins into one title. Only Japanese voice over will be available for both games in this collection. Regarding details of language support, please refer to the next question on specification information.*"

Straight from the Bandai Namco Q&A section for the game unfortunately

Re: Baten Kaitos I & II HD Remaster Launches On Nintendo Switch This September

@River3636 unfortunately not, this will be a Japanese language only release.

Which is sad, because as bad as the English dub was, it -made- the game for me. Honestly, the original has become a major part in my life, half of the characters I get to name in things are named "Kalas". And part of that impact was because of the English VAs and how they sounded on my crappy 20-some inch CRT TV I played the game on

Re: Random: Duplicate Shiny Pokémon With This Scarlet And Violet Exploit

Avol

I mean, it's great and all, but as a colourblind person, the lack of shiny indicator means for me that unless a shiny is -incredibly- obvious, and I remember what the original colour is supposed to be, I'm very unlikely to find a shiny Pokemon this generation. That, and my abysmal luck in general hah

Re: JRPG 'MONARK' Introduces Key Characters Along With New Footage

Avol

Honestly this game gives me the vibe that it's going to become a cult classic a few years after its release, kind of like Tokyo Mirage ended up. Looks awesome and probably a release day buy for me! Did anyone else get the feeling that Shinya is actually a girl or something, especially going by his costume?

Re: 505 Publishing New Game From Metroid And Castlevania Developer MercurySteam

Avol

@Antraxx777 unfortunately I have no clue what triggered them. I'm being vague as possible to avoid spoilers for this first glitch. At one point a character was supposed to appear and help me up a ledge. I decided to backtrack instread to do some exploring and when I got back to where the character was, they had despawned and I was locked out of progressing any further. A couple people had experienced this one. Some managed to fix it by restarting the mission, but it didn't work for me unfortunately.

Second glitch was when I used a warp point. When I loaded into the new area, my screen was super dark and I couldn't move or push or any buttons except for the Xbox home button. Nothing I could do but delete.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV - Impenetrable To Newcomers, But A Gripping Finale

Avol

@FlameRunnerFast I'm not dissing the game series as a whole - I've recommended the games to other people since I played who have ended up falling in love with the series. It's just that my personal opinion that despite the game checking off so many things that I should like in a game , I just don't like it. No harm, no foul.

It wasn't the story being "incomplete" or only half that got me - I can deal with that no problem. The plot hooks just never caught me.

As for why PSP? Well because when I bought the game that's all they were released on. Plus, I don't PC game - not my style. The only real useable PCs I have are my work desktop/laptop and IT kinda frowns upon downloading games onto them.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV - Impenetrable To Newcomers, But A Gripping Finale

@crudfish on this one, make your own decisions. If you're enjoying what you're playing now, keep going with the series! In my case the series wasn't for me, but I've still recommended it to people looking for JRPG games and they've loved it. The games as a whole have so many things I like in a series that it should have been an instant love, but I found that wasn't the case. It far and away doesn't mean the series is bad - far from it.

Re: Review: The Legend Of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV - Impenetrable To Newcomers, But A Gripping Finale

Avol

@Daniel36 I love the idea of a super dense connected lore like the series has, it's unfortunate though in this case because the information is spread out not only different generations but over different consoles and publishers (handheld or otherwise), which makes it incredibly hard unless you're doing emulation or have access to those old games. It's not Falcom's fault per se, but it makes it things difficult

Re: Feature: Resident Evil At 25 - A Shambling Corpse Never Felt More Alive

Avol

@TheFullAndy I finally managed to unlock everything in RE4 last year - infinite handcannon was a massive pain to get - and wrecking ball runs are so much fun.

I have a save file that only has all the Infinite Weapons and another that is all normal weapons, and they're both great for running through the game when I have the urge

Re: Feature: Resident Evil At 25 - A Shambling Corpse Never Felt More Alive

@Broosh I was weird on 6. I had it for 360, tried a few levels, and then put it down for years. Last year picked it up as part of the 3-in-1 packs for Switch, and powered through it on my way through my backlog. I was pretty neutral on it my entire playthrough, but oddly enough, after I finished it, all I wanted to do was replay it and get all the weapon upgrades and stuff that I could because I had come to find the game oddly enjoyable. But you are correct that it was a hard sell

Re: Best Game Boy Advance RPGs

Avol

I have tried multiple times over the years to get into (and understand) Super Robot Taisen for the GBA, but that game is super dense in information both story and mechanics that I have zero clue what's going on in the game. I even have the booklet and read over it and everything. It's a shame because it's giant robots and strategy. What's not to love about that?!
