The MCM London Comic Con takes place between the 25th and 27th May at the Excel in England's capital, and as ever, there were be plenty of video game-related points of interest among the TV stars, merchandise and cosplay.
Confirmed stars include David Harewood (Supergirl), Rosario Dawson (Marvel Cinematic Universe), John DiMaggio (Futurama, Adventure Time), Caroline Blakiston (Star Wars), Anthony Daniels (Star Wars) and many more besides.
Nintendo is making a big splash at this year's event, and our very own YouTube host Alex Olney will be in attendance on the Saturday. Nintendo will be running a livestream during the event, with a number of headline tournaments taking place during the three days.
On Friday it's ARMS and Pokkén Tournament DX, Saturday will be Splatoon 2 and Sunday will showcase Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Rocket League. In addition to these games, Mario Tennis Aces will be getting a push on each day. If you'd like to sign up to take part in these events, head here.
While he's not on stage providing questionable commentary, Alex will be milling about the Excel on the Saturday and is more than happy to take some photos with all you lovely people. If you happen to see him aimlessly wandering around the Excel, please approach with caution as it may have been some time since his last meal and his bite is quite nasty.
If you do get close enough to take a photo and still have enough fingers intact to operate your smartphone, post your selfie on Twitter with the hashtags #HelloThereLovelyPhoto and #MCMcomiccon, and be sure to tag both Nintendo Life and Alex - we'll be sure to share the least harrowing examples with our Twitter followers.

I wish but costs too much money to get off my little rock
Spotted a typo:
“Confirmed stars include **Alex Olney (Nintendo Life),** David Harewood (Supergirl), Rosario Dawson...”
You are our superstar, and always first in our hearts. Except for our actual family members. But still pretty high up there.
Who?
"You could meeting Alex, you lucky things."
Ooh I might bump into you
What's an Alex?
I’m a huge comics fan and had tickets for this but had an operation and now can’t go......gutted
Link cosplayers are always so cringy.
They either look to feminine, or they're overweight goofs.
Do we get paid for this, as technically this is social media advertising for NintendoLife?
@YamAsereht No, but you also get to... not do it. If you don't want to.
MCM isn't so great these days. Overcrowded and expensive.
We go to the London Film and Comic Con at Olympia now. It's run so much better and there's room to actually move and breathe!
@Mr_Pepperami
Damn, I'm sorry to hear that. Hope you're healing up okay out there. Get better soon.
@Ooyah thank you very much. Yeah not well at all after it have to say. Hope it starts to improve soon. Have a great evening
@Mr_Pepperami
Hang in there. I hope you'll be back to fine form in no time.
@Ooyah you are a true gent. I’d expect nothing less from someone with bubble bobble as their profile picture. Now there’s a collection of games I’d love to have on the switch
@Mr_Pepperami
I know what it's like to be ill. ☹️ Particularly when things get a bit scary.
I know that Hamster have released Bubble Bobble on other systems... would love to see it on Switch! It is my all time favourite game. The Taito Legends compilation would also be great... I think that it lacked Parasol Stars, though.
@Maxz Looks like I won't be doing it then. Professional services = $$$ .
@Incarta I thought London Film and Comic Con was packed back in 2015. I guess it is miles better now?
@Ooyah yeah, sadly this is nowhere near the first time or the last as it’s a long standing thing. My sympathies for what you’ve gone through it’s not nice at all but you have to power on.
I’d love a collection of them. Be great to have all the spin offs etc in a collection, although the first is also my favourite. Gotta have the best looping music of all time. Can never tire of that one tune
@Mr_Pepperami
I hear you. I have a life long illness... a mental illness, which people can be very dismissive of. Not at all easy but, as you say, one has to push on through, and deal with the hand which has been dealt. Keep going!
I've never played Memories or Symphony, but would love to! And yeah... the music is wonderful! As is the short intro sequence... that sends a shiver through me every time. And... Rainbow Islands would also be in my all time top 5.
@Ooyah I had a partner who suffered from mental illness so I totally know where you are coming from. People struggle sometimes to understand mental illness or depression but in the last five years as more people talk about it’s getting more understanding. I know there are good days and bad days so hopefully you are having a good day. As for myself I have a genetic illness called Cystic fibrosis. It’s not the best it put it lightly but I’m happy to be here with my son and love ones. All the best mate
Patricia Summersett's gonna be there too 😍
Comic Con is all about $$ these days, went there in 2016, it was nice, certainly massive, just that Comic con is that one biggest event in pop culture etc that I would say is all about money. The San Diego one is the one that happens to be the biggest worldwide.
Cool to see Nintendo Life posting about it though.
