Maybe the two new characters do shake things up. It is odd that Nintendo chose not to showcase that. But it certainly looks better than Prime 2. Comparing the two does nothing to make me wish they had taken some huge gamble mixing up he entire formula.
They obviously should not ditch it, but they are right in that it is embarrassing how Nintendo themselves hardly use it. Offscreen play is neat, but not necessary for many, and doesn't affect gameplay.
Pikmin they (Nintendo) repeatedly say is better with the Wii remote. The only other games they use the pad for much are minigame collections. Both Mario games make only marginal use of it.
I am glad someone in the industry finally says what I have been saying. We don't owe publishers more money; they owe us better games. They think video games are some special market, but it isn't. I can buy a used home, a used car, used underwear, etc. And I can buy used games. That is our right. They want to trick people into feeling sorry for them and paying more, but I do not give beggars business.
I would be happy to try out the three new titles, though my plan to drive an hour to get to this demo now needs to be questioned. It's still four solid titles even if already revealed titles are not something we get excited about E3 for.
Yea, I didn't get far enough into it to say if I liked it myself, but it seemed well done. I would probably enjoy watching a speed run if it didn't skip cut scenes, but I felt like I was doing drudge work for the reward of cinematics.
Uncharted is boring. It feels like there's no game to it at all. I didn't like Mass Effect either. But I like Metal Gear and Ico / Shadow of the Colossus. So it's not like I like only Nintendo games or don't like games with a story. Some people don't seem willing to believe others can have opinions on these games other than their own.
Nintendo isn't good at this. If they were, they would have thought of a new story for Zelda by now, and the last Metroid would not have made fanboys rage. I don't want them to try something they are clearly incapable of. I like what they do now.
I would cry for almost a moment in time if Jigs was removed. Sad I won't be demoing this at Best Buy from the sound of it, since he only mentions video.
Well, their thoughts certainly echo Nintendo's, and many Nintendo fans'. I agree with them. There are some cases where super duper graphics are nice to have, but if every company were making the next Metal Gear Solid with budgets that must make filmmakers blush, I think most companies would go out of business.
I really enjoyed FAST, though I honestly kind of forgot about it. I need to play that again. I hope the sequel is even better. (And for the millionth time, Nintendo, if you or Retro won't make F-Zero, let these guys!)
Is any of the Dlc fun or challenging for a team that has already beaten the game? I am worried I would buy this and have to start the game over to enjoy it at the proper level, but I didn't notice a suggested level.
Whether it would sell or not, Itoi has a job, and it isn't making games. Just because it might be profitable doesn't mean he has to want to spend a ton of time and energy doing it.
The "Impossible" response was made on Twitter when someone asked how they could "make" him do a Mother 4. It was part of a tongue in cheek advice column he was doing temporarily. His answer should be taken in context. It wouldn't be impossible to make the game; it would be impossible to make him make the game.
That is how I saw it translated, anyway, for whatever little that is worth.
I played this on Xbox and found it to be surprisingly fun. If you truly cannot do friend matches on the U, that is bizarre and disappointing, and should probably be mentioned in the review.
Actually, his answer kind of sounds like he didn't understand the question. He seemed to be saying, "VC games never have music changes, so of course.". The whole "not that I am aware of" response indicates he either doesn't know or is pretending not to. The long held theory is that NOA wanted to change the music to avoid potential lawsuits, but NCL would not let. But now it is out in Japan with the OST. With the cat out of the bag, it is possible NOA just decided: well, the door to lawsuits is already open. Or: Now we know for sure they won't permit music changes. I mean, obviously if there are issues he can't say so or that could be used against them.
Just theories to waste time on until the release. It is a curiosity and nothing more. I couldn't be happier with the game having the original soundtrack (well, changing Pokey to Porky would be a good sign for Mother 3 plans...).
If he used the outline for every story every made, then every story has the same outline, in which case, no story has ever been notable but the first. And it couldn't plagiarize the plot and still be original. It was popular for a lot of reasons. Special effects, atmosphere, music, world-building, plot, etc.
I never thought much of Lucas Arts, but I do hope Disney lets them finish their current projects. I hate seeing that happen to anyone. If the employees reorganize as an independent studio, Disney could always license the projects back to them.
Whatever the problems with this plan, it's R.O.B. I hope he succeeds.
If public perception is the sole problem, they could just sell it to him. I think they generally get away with selling stuff, though I never go there myself to verify it.
Gameplay-wise, I don't see what the PS4 brings to the table that's new. The social stuff, ok, sure, it's neat, not a system seller. The graphics and processing power are handy but I would prefer a cheaper system to a powerful system. So as far as I'm concerned PS4 adds some kind of streaming (which would be cool for demos), and input features that are already done better on other systems.
I have at one point owned a PS3 and sometimes regret selling it a tiny bit, so I am not anti-Playstation by any means. I just don't see any cause for excitement as a user or any cause for concern for Nintendo.
Dodger, what he is saying is it doesn't make sense for a character you control to die through no fault of your own. At this point, you are throwing game play out the window and ignoring the fact that one of your heroes has been unstoppable all game.
Imagine if in your favorite TV show one of the main characters was played by a great actor and portrayed the character one way, but midseason he is replaced by someone who isn't up to snuff, comes across as a weakling, and is subsequently killed off. You would lose all sense of continuity for reasons beyond the scope of the show.
In a game, you are the actor until the cut scenes, at which point, no matter how good or bad you have done, the game's writer changes how you are portrayed entirely and can have you killed off in ways that don't fit your performance with that character.
I can't think of any time this has happened outside of RPGs where you control several characters, but I can see what he means though it has never occurred for me.
I liked how the story worked in both Brawl and Kid Icarus and am not a fan of overwrought stories in games for similar reasons, if not exactly the same.
MrWalkieTalkie, it is a bit confusing in the translation, but they are not saying you can only play with this controller and no other. They are saying that, if you want to, you can play with only that screen (and turn off the TV or change the channel). In the article they still refer to the Wii remote being used, so that control scheme is still available, unless I misunderstood you or the article.
SZM, did they bring back marrying your characters in this one? I really wanted to see how that worked in the fan translation of the SFC one, but I couldn't get past the second map (the maps were huge, in my defense, and the translation not complete, if I recall).
A lot of people don't like Earthbound, but I think this one has a broader appeal while still being a Mother game. I hope a review gets it more attention among those who only know of it from the raving of Earthbound fans, who they've long ago learned to tune out (perhaps wisely... except when it's me, of course).
Didn't some Melee players get kicked out last time they had it? I would prefer to see Skull Girls. I love Brawl, but Skull Girls is new, well balanced, and could use the attention, being an indie game of sorts.
Pretty. Wish it was XL. I should upgrade to XL before FE comes out. Last time I played an FE game on handheld, I couldn't stop playing. If my eyes had started bleeding, the moisture would have been a relief.
The art style is neat, and I am interested to see how pairing units will affect the game play. The story seems a little more interesting than normal with undead involved and Marth possibly returning. And yay, more videos and voice acting. The cut scenes in Ike's games were very well done but few and far between.
I haven't been following this, so I may be surprised and excited about stuff everyone else has known for awhile. I am just glad Fire Emblem is finally back. My Unit stands ready.
Luckily I demoed this at Gamestop where I was able to play the amusing music based level where you are just running right constantly, so I know it isn't as awful as it seems, but I don't understand who they think would find it fun to play Murphy alone. I quit a few minutes into the demo when I downloaded it at home.
