I would think the previews would be coming out faster if this were true. It has never sounded like Sakurai felt close to finished. I feel as if they would not have left this big of news to Nintendo of Germany to announce.
They should just make an easy mode where the game gives more hints, or a Super Navi Guide that you can choose to ignore, ideally saying Hey! Listen! repeatedly.
But this sounds good. The item rental system is already plenty enough to distinguish it from other Zeldas and other companies' games, so I certainly don't see it as releasing the same game over and over. We will see more when it's out and can actually make informed claims.
Kickstarter projects tend to be delayed, so I'm not surprised, though this is the first video game project I checked out. I didn't back it, so I can't say I have any cause for disappointment, but it does look like something I'll buy when it comes out.
It is naive if you assume that was Plan A and there was no Plan B to release it as a non-Zelda game. I don't see how it hurt them to ask even if they didn't expect to be given the ok.
I am perfectly capable of understanding as is. It is just a silly explanation. If the content of their own game misrepresents their own franchises, then the stream and tournament are not the problem. People watching Evo already know who Mario is and what he is about. These are people who live for games. They have seen Smash before.
That is kind of ridiculous. The people who watch Evo know what Mario's supposed to be like. And it isn't like he is extra violent here. He punches, kicks, shoots fireballs, etc. in his own games. The content isn't being hacked, they are broadcasting the same content that Nintendo themselves developed. Of course commentators may say things Nintendo doesn't like, but so might reviewers or anyone else.
Knytt has cursing!? That doesn't necessarily bother me, but it does not fit with my memories of the PC games at all. It was completely minimalistic with little dialog if any — pretty sure it was none.
I love that the Wii U attracts all these talented artists. I'd give up all my other talents if I could learn to draw half so well. Now I just need to get other talents so I can give them up.
If someone is trying to hack your car, they may not be concerned with driving it safely. I drive a Prius, one of their test vehicles. Now every time I see someone with an NES pad I will be extremely nervous and suspicious.
The cutscenes were hilarious and pretty clever, particularly for having no dialog. But I look forward to something new, or better yet, nothing at all. They haven't yet come up with a single-player mode that somehow takes a fighting game engine and makes it work as an ordinary platformer. I would prefer they stick to using it as a fighting game.
Such a fun game. A riot in multiplayer. It is too bad these kinds of "gamelike games" (I like that term) are no longer popular. And he is right about most people liking fewer kinds of games now, I think.
Matt Thorson is the best. He has a lot of absolutely wonderful games free on his site. An Untitled Story is one of the best Metroid-style games there is. I have made a ton of mini games with his Jumper 2 level editor. This looks like pure fun and I badly want it to come to a console I own. I am sorely tempted to get an Ouya for it but will cross my fingers that he does work with Nintendo. I know he has said he wants to do a PC version with an expanded single-player mode.
They have deals like the Fire Emblem plus Shin whatever deal often? That sounds pretty great. It'd be essentially twenty bucks for me to get this since I have Awakening already... Whatever the heck this is. Time to research.
I could easily say that I'm right and that you just haven't researched it, too, without giving any evidence. I really just wanted to leave my opinion in the comments, not be argued to death.
Nintendo has never cared about mudslinging, and there are no legal issues except those you speculate may exist. I don't see that Nintendo provided anything or endorsed the event prior to the initial denial of streaming rights.
I still don't get why game companies should be allowed to deny streaming rights. It's not like a movie or a song where people are getting the product for free. But glad it's settled. It would just be a jerk move to deny the stream considering it doesn't hurt anything.
Account-based or not, I have already re-downloaded my past purchases on a newer console. The Wii U already does this, as does the 3DS.
Back-ups would be nice, but they don't have an official system for backing up discs either, so this is not a problem unique to downloads. I haven't had a broken Nintendo console yet and have been with them since the NES, and yet games do go bad.
So again, in every respect, digital downloads are on par as far as permanence goes, and really are likely to last longer in many cases where you may have kids mishandling discs or misplacing them.
Shutting down a service does not mean someone coming to your house and deleting your games. They are just as forever as my disc games except they are more conveniently stored, arrive faster, and don't scratch or get lost.
I don't get the paranoia associated with downloads. It sounds like the age old fear of change.
The Final Weapon is hilarity waiting to happen. We didn't know exactly how final it was and so I used it and immediately died, though we could not quite figure out how. We were scared to use it for a long time. This is a very fun game, especially with download play.
My only complaint so far is that some levels you have to explore and kill everything but if you miss one enemy, the game doesn't tell you where you need to go. It isn't as if this is Metroid. The stuff is not hidden whatsoever. It's just that there are branching paths and no radar / overlay map to show where you've been.
The other kids always shot lasers at me in our snowball fights. I was excited about this game until I read that part. Now I am overwhelmed with memories of childhood trauma and can't think about playing video games.
I'm not a fan of UFS, but at least the license isn't being given to a more mass market company to make Mega Manopoly. Also, Bioshock Infinite looks great and is made by a great company. I've got it preordered.
@GamerZack7 No, Jasco bought it and brought it back. Their first set was original and not based on a video game. Haven't kept track of what they've done since then.
How have they not added something so basic as friend lobbies yet? I would buy this if I could play with friends.
And five dollars is overpriced. There are what, 24 starting characters? That is less than $3 a character assuming no other original content is valued. But these are worth $5, for some reason. It isn't as if this is a free game they need to turn around and make money on.
But hopefully they will release an ultimate edition like for Mortal Kombat and by then they will have decided to add friend support.

Mom staring joyously as her kids simultaneously control Mario and jump him backwards for no reason into a bottomless pit.

My cow was deeply offended by the dialog in this game, so I have to agree with this article.

Are we expected to take him seriously? His place of employment and his haircut suggest otherwise.
