Throughout this year Nintendo has used Direct and Nindie Showcase broadcasts to highlight Switch exclusives of various types, including those that will be 'console exclusive'. That was the title given to Poly Bridge, an intriguing engineering / puzzle game already out on PC and smart devices.
It has a campaign of 105 levels in which you need to construct increasingly extravagant - and solid - bridges within a budget. Beyond that there's a Sandbox mode where you can do, well, pretty much anything you want.
Originally slated for a Holiday release, the European eShop is now listing the game for 14th December priced at £13.49 in the UK; this'll likely convert to €14.99 / $14.99USD. All going well we'd expect the North American release date to be the same.
Are you planning to build some bridges on the Switch?

Very much looking forward to this one!
This looks awesome! I think I'm getting this. My two sons and I are usually very interested in bridge building when it comes up as a school project. Hopefully it controls and play as good as the idea sounds.
I've wanted to try this on PC, but never got around to it... if the interface looks intuitive, I will probably try this out.
I am curious to see what the docked controls are like... will they be motion controls with an on-screen pointer? Or will this be undocked only to use the touchscreen?
Reminds me of the bridge building levels in World Of Goo, but with many more possibilities. Looks good.
This is a weird game in that I can't for the life of me understand its appeal. Hopefully it's a good one, though.
Will definitely buy. $15 seems steep, though.
@justin233 $15 isn't bad at all, actually. It's only 3 dollars less on Steam, and I can assure you that this game will suck you in for hours, especially once you start going wild in sandbox mode and making your own creations and downloading other people's published levels. Really, this would make a great addition to anyone's Switch library if you're into physics/puzzle games.
You give prices in English pounds and American Dollars. Shouldn't there be a European price too? I am under the impression that a lot of your readers come from other European countries that use the Euro (€) currency.
@Racthet916 Well if it offers a decent amount of content for the price, it sounds good to me.
Looks very elaborate and quite challenging. :9
My son has been hyped for this since announcement, I really hope it comes through for us... We're the type of family that always enjoy erecting a good toothpick bridge and stressing it.
Oh, no! More sims getting in between me and Xenoblade Chronicles 2! Though, it's been on my Steam wish list for ages, might as well build bridges on the go.
I wonder if Spiderling Games would be interested in porting Beseige and Klei with Oxygen Not Included to the Switch. That would really build up the physics/science/education genre a lot! It would also ensure that those games would completely obliterate my social life, what's left of it, LOL!
@Cosats I've added a euro price, if I'm honest I was just a tad rushed / lazy then.
@ThomasBW84 Thank you very much. I really appreciate it.
@ricklongo Well, for starters, it's a great game for people that were interested in building stuff when they were kids, and would still be potentially interested in that now.
Second, it also contains a puzzle element, in that you not only have to make a viable, sturdy construction, but you also only have a limited number of elements to build it from.
And third, the main objective of building the bridge has an additional goal of getting a vehicle from one side to the other, and time/speed is also a factor in achieving that goal, so all in all, there's several angles that this game has, that might interest someone.
I'm not really a builder myself, even though I used to have toys like that, and LEGO as well, but I kind of lost the taste for it. When I played this game on PC last year, though, it was an instantly enjoyable experience nonetheless, so you might be surprised at how entertaining this kind of game might be.
It really gets the brain into high gear, because it encourages you to come up with the most effective constructions, preferably built with the least number of elements (you also get points for items left per level, and you can sometimes take items with you to the next. Well, at least, in the PC version)
@ThanosReXXX Thanks for the rundown! I'm absolutely a fan of building stuff, but that usually means cities (SimCity), empires (Civilization) or farms (Stardew Valley). Building a bridge just seems... I dunno, too limited. I will keep what you said in mind, however, especially when there's a sale of some sort.
@ricklongo You're welcome. And I also thought it would be limited at first, but even though it's "just" bridges, there's a bit more to it. It's also physics, ways of construction, bridges that can open and close, bridges that can rise/lower to several levels and so on, and with well over a 100 levels and a sandbox option to just go completely crazy with your own constructions, there's enough to keep people busy for quite a while.
Of course, in the end it all depends on personal taste, so what you might want to do is check out a few let's play videos, which could give you a better idea of what you can expect from it.
Personally, if I watch let's plays, I always go for the ones with actual commentary instead of the silent ones with just gameplay, so I can gauge the enthusiasm of the people playing it, and get some pointers on how to get started as well.
Normally, that should be enough to make a decent decision.
