Not so long ago, we reported that Splatoon amiibo orders were cancelled in the UK due to an entire truckful of the blighters being stolen.
Just when you thought that things couldn't get any worse in the world of amiibo collecting, we're now hearing reports from France that retailers are cancelling orders because of "destroyed" stock.
The idea of stock being willfully destroyed is an odd one, but détruit can also mean "spoiled" or "damaged", which seems more likely. It sounds like there was an issue with the Yoshi amiibo shipment - they could have become damaged or ruined during transit - and as a result, orders are being cancelled.
Nintendo France has yet to comment on this news - we'll update this post if and when they do.
Thanks to MC Augstkalns for the tip!

Every time a yoshi plushie amiibo is destroyed, Koopa kills a kitten.
Perhaps the fellows who stole the Splatoon lorry ran over the shipments during a comedic chase scene?
You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! damn you all to hell!
Just what Nintendo needed after a bad E3 ..... But seriously though French retailers need to learn a little bit of English 😂😂😂
I'm calling BS. More like they was never made in the first place or they got thier stinking hands on them
Humanity take another new low. Screw you, whoever did this.

but it really sucks that happens and french, i mean what KIND of idiot do such a thing>
So what will the Italian retailers have for their problem? Stock hijacked by cockneys driving around in Minis?
Maybe it was by an angry warehouse working Nintendo fan who already sick of hearing about the damn things was tipped over the edge into a full blown amiibo rage from that dreadful E3 performance?Skylanders amiibo may have been the tipping point!
When you or a conductor stamps a bus/train ticket or runs it through a machine in France it gets "obliterated"! (obliteré = cancelled/stamped to show it's been used). So "détruit" just means destroyed in the sense of ruined/wiped out/damaged to be unusable. Could be by fire/water, no deliberate action implied. Often the French describe burned buildings as "détruit".
"Rupture of stock" just means a problem with the supply line, not the little Yarn Yoshis spontaneously bursting.
Misleading translations maybe, but still of a way higher standard than that managed by most English speakers trying to speak French.
They must of gotten tangled up with the Batmobile Limited Edition Statue of Batman Arkham Knight... XD
Nintendo purposefully destroying amiibo to artificially raise the prices.
It's genius!!!! Bwahahahahhahahahahahaha!!!
He was too adorable to be known....

This backlash is much more worse than what anyone thinks of the Direct
@Megapokepaul I don't get the idea of a "bad" E3. Just because some people are entitled jerks and mad about Metroid they had a "bad" E3?
Quel dommage. Ectoplasme! Mille Millions de Mille Sabords!
If only they had destroyed every remaining amiibo left in the world & put an end to this madness....
Really weird... I wonder why...
@Troggy @Angelic_Lapras_King - Yeah, makes me wonder whatever happened to the "order" part of pre-rder. As in, I already ordered something, I should get it. Target never got any Splatoon water pistols in when I bought my copy of the game either.
The sad part is, at this point, I would not batt an eye on someone setting a container with Yoshi amiiboo on fire, just so as to drive up the price, because they managed to acquire a significant stock of said item before hand. Stuff like that happens to food stocks all the time, so why not with stuff way less precious like amiiboo? It's not like that would not make "sense" or would be beneath us as people, after all nothing is.
The amiibocalypse continues...
As a big Yoshi fan, this truly saddens me. Sorry to the fans in France.
Aww, poor Yoshis.
...Ah, sh*t.
I just think it's retailers that accepted too much preordered. I had the same email from boulanger for the shulk amiibo, it was the only retailer that was still taking preorders but than they didn't had enough amiibo when they were released.
thanks to the guys here translations i suspect that either the Amiibo got wet shrinking the wool or the NFC got damage
@rjejr it dose seem like retailers/suppliers have forgotten how the concept works. until they know what stock they are getting they should only lets your register your interest and then when they know let you preorder
Wool isnt exactly the strongest material out there.
Two days ago Amazon UK finally sent me the Ness that they should have sent on April 24th, so retailers are taking more orders than there is stock available.
If the yoshis are damaged, pics or it did not happen.
i declare revenge to get those poor yoshis back, REVENGE!!!
Looks like Nintendo (puts on glasses) got the wool pulled over their eyes
@Mattpoint7 YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Poor people that had a Yoshi preordered. This wouldn't be as much of a problem if Amiibos were more readily available.
How nice of Mr. Nintendo to teach them his stock was destroyed.
First low stock, then theft, and now destruction. Amiibo have become such a hassle for what is essentially a Nintendo Skylander.
Destroyed? Somebody wanted to make them more rare.
The other bad thing is this is going to raise scalper selling prices because the amiibo are now EVEN rarer than amiibo normally are...
Whoever had a hand in damaging such expression of cuteness must be punished! This is truly abominable!
Nooooo this makes me so sad
I hope I can still get a cute woolly yoshi amiibo
This is a new low.
Only 2500 of each Yarn Yoshi colour were making their way to France anyway. http://infoamiibo.com/destruction-amiibo-yoshi-de-laine-france/ That shows how little stock there is to begin with. Will be nigh-on impossible to get in the Hexagon now.
@Yosher You're a Yoshi fan?!?! WHAAAAAT MIND BLOWN
@rsanchez1
Now, Reggie, people who disagree with you aren't automatically entitled jerks. Don't worry: you'll still get paid.
@Megapokepaul You do realise that the broken English is the result of online translators? The retailers didn't write that themselves.
@TeeJay Made an account to praise your MMBN avatar. Cheers.
@CountAthos Oh wow! Well thanks a lot! Megaman EXE is one of my favorite Megaman incarnations.
If someone actually destroyed them:
First stolen amiibo, and now this?!?
Of course I don't live in France, but all of humanity needs more plush Yoshi amiibo. WHO COULD OF DONE SUCH A THING!
How many chinese slaves does it take to knit a yoshi amiibo?
Who could be so evil as to destroy the cutest amiibo yet?
Who could be so evil as to destroy the cutest amiibo yet?
@Megapokepaul Why would French retailers talk to their French customers in English? That's ridiculous.
"Ooops, vron' vashin' programme, ze Yoshis 'ave shrunk!"
Yeah, Détruit, in this case, means that it's unsuable or more like un-sellable. but even in french, its a really strong word for this situation. as a french speaker, the first image I got was yoshi's amiibo exploding. Détruit is the new word of the week folks.
@andreoni79
HA! Good stuff. Now if only someone photoshoped a Yoshi amiibo in there it would be perfect!
Hi ! I'm french and "détruit" really means "destroyed" in common language. Not "damaged" or "spoiled".
Something "détruit" is a collapsed building, Paul Walker's car, ... or stuff like that.
Is it possible for whatever electronic parts in the amiibo set the yarn on fire, in some way? Like rough handling, extreme heat, or anything like that? Could be a spontaneous combustion type of thing.
I just don't understand stores like this, instead of just cancelling the orders. Just notify the customers and tell them it will be delayed. And let them have the option of cancelling or waiting. Stupidly rude to just cancel the order and then force people to order it again.
spilled soy sauce over the top of the boxes, soy yoshi no sale.
@argh4430 that would be highly unlikely. NFC draws very little current by it's passive nature. The NFC would have to absorb many Watts worth of RF energy in order to ignite the whool. That said, placing in a microwave oven would probably yield the desired result if spontaneous combustion of Yarn Yoshi is your ultimate goal. Not recommended; poor little guy has suffered enough abuse at the hands of French assassins...
my friend is a huge yoshi fan. yeah she wants to kill them all now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 in terms of the people who fu@@ed them up
That sucks for the people in France who wanted them. They're so cute.
@StarDust4Ever
to say nothing of getting punched and literally ditched by mario
@Tempistryke There's a spot in Super Mario World around the Cheeze Bridge area, where the keyhole is placed beyond the goal pole. I believe it is required to access Soda Lake and one of the Star World Shorcuts. The only way to access the keyhole is to dive under the platform and jump up on the other side. For this, you need Yoshi and a cape. Glide underneath the platform and hit "X" to dismount. Yoshi falls into the pit, sacrificing himself so that Mario lives on to complete the stage.
For it is written, "no man shows greater love than this, that one give up his own life to save his friend." That's loyalty, folks. Yoshi's loyalty to Mario rivals that even of the most loyal dog.
But I still don't see how this relates to needless mass geno- er "Yoshicide" of adorable plushies...
