For collectors and those that enjoy getting a little more out of key Nintendo releases, amiibo have been a revelation. Keeping them safe and in good condition is a challenge though, along with the decision of whether to unbox them, keep them in their packaging or to unpack carefully for the best of both worlds.
There are some carrying bags and cases available, but one entrepreneur has successfully funded a Kickstarter campaign for custom 'Collector Cases'. These are made with durable plastic that resists falls and impact, and have been designed to fit the amiibo toys and their packaging.
At the time of writing the campaign still has 16 days to run, should you want to check it out, but it's already passed its goal. The exciting world of amiibo cases just got real.
These could be useful for collectors, undoubtedly, and they're both basic and affordable. Would you like a set of these?
Thanks to all that sent this in.

This seriously needs funding? This looks more like something that should go on Ebay... not Kickstarter.
@ikki5 - Exactly.
@rjejr @ikki5 Apparently 44 backers think so. I'm sure most of us could just find cases similar to these in stores.
I would use this for, say one amiibo. Otherwise, that's pretty much it for me.
why is this a thing anyways? .... why not collect them AND use them? .... they are strudy enough, to withstand most normally occuring impacts, soo ....
Can someone please explaine to my why they don't just open them? .... it would save so much space ...
Rare amiibo on eBay now with collector case ! Wooohooo!
@Josaku Because dust exists, whether you use your amiibo all the time or rarely/never it will gather dust if you open them. This way that doesn't happen.
@Josaku To sell who would buy an opened amiibo?No one!
@Josaku I understand the whole idea behind keeping stuff factory sealed as far as collecting goes (because if it stays in it's original casing the item instantly becomes worth more than the some item OUT of it's case), but I'm not too sure why you'd want to even do that unless you plan on selling them eventually or you wanted it purely for display (some "collector" items are purely decorational, but with Amiibos, they honestly look best without the box even as decorations.).
This looks really cheap, so the point of this needing crowdfunding is beyond me. Also, if I wanted my amiibo to be in some sort of protection case, I wouldn't want one for a sealed figure, that's redundant.
I can imagine you have to be really nick-picky to get something like this. Well from what I experience there are people who are an*l enough to buy this while it's already factory sealed and have it in a see through cabinet; it's like triple sleeve trading cards even though I think double sleeve is more then enough.
And Nintendo still thinks people are buying these things to use in games.
Absolute jokes! I think Nintendo knows people are not using them at all. Top selling Amiibo in the UK (Wii fit Trainer) LOL
These Kickstarter campaigns have gotten completely out of hand. It's absolutely obscene that people are essentially paying up to fund the business plans of others. Whatever happened to actually giving to the needy?
Sad, sad, sad...
A packaging inside another packaging?Pointless.
I'm going to sell a special cellophane wrap that can go around these plastic cases to prevent the cases from getting contaminated. Also, they'll have special UV protection because reasons.
@Josaku
Some people are just collectors, and want to preserve value.
Either they want to sell it down the line or want to own a piece of nintendo history worth a great deal of money. Gamer prestige
@sillygostly
See wellfare, and see how well giving to the needy works out
@ultraraichu
Well, the boxes themselves deteriorate... especially in more tropic climates where humidity destroys everything you love
id like an official display case for the actual figures out of the box. Not a carry case mind.
Okay, as odd as this may be, dust is a thing, and you don't need to be a collector who wishes to sell on ebay to not like dust corroding your amiibo. One has to be in it for the long-term. Iono if this is the permanent solution... afterall, it means I have to regather the casing from the amiibo I've already bought. And as silly as it may look, it makes sense. As for a kickstarter? Yeah. A bit odd.
Also, why can't amiibo be plural AND singular?
I thought this was going to be a case to put the amiibo back in if it had been opened, now that i might have been interested in. This just looks pointless
I would think it would be simple to make a case, one that has a spot for an amiibo base, maybe six of them displayed together. Three or six would make sense to me. That way they can be open and protected. That's the handier thing for someone like me, who still likes to open, even if something is collectible.
I'd rather a better designed portable display. Right now retailers sell a few of the portable bags, but I have not found one I've liked. None feel fully secure during transport and none are transparent (maybe for the best, but that is a good option to have perhaps...?). If this was about security, portability, and display, I'd go for it.
I don't really see why this needed a kickstarter, even the potato salad one sounded cooler lol
I wouldn't buy them, but then again I open all my amiibos because I use them in my games. I understand there's a small segment of gamers who collect sealed merchandise, and I'm sure they'll really appreciate these cases. As for the rest of us though who actually open our amiibos and use them, this isn't really an option. Unless they made a display stand/case for opened amiibo with easy access when you need to take one out- that I would buy
The amiibos craze is getting... Out of hand..
this is beyond stupid hahahah, but I applause people who can make Money like this
I don't really get it. By all means, fund what you guys what, but this seemed a little unnecessary. And now scalpers who get these are probably going to charge more for the amiibo they ship them in. So... thanks for making some peoples lives more difficult?
As long as they are cheap(because they look cheap) I'd buy three to put my Kid Icarus character amiibos in. But seriously, those better be like two bucks or less. They are simple plastic boxes. I don't want to see those being sold for ten bucks a piece.
Well, I could probably just build a simple glass-front box to put them in once I get Dark Pit and Palutena...Come to think of it, Pit is getting dusty on my bookshelf as I type this.
I don't really see the need for making a Kickstarter for something you can just sell on Ebay...
@Chaoz for the hype
@Chaoz for the hype
Wait... they have almost everything done already? They're using kickstarter as a shop, not so much as a crowdfunding platform.
This amiibo thing has really gotten out of hand and Nintendo needs to do something about it. These things are worth so much people seem to have the need for cheap soft plastic cases to store unopened amiibos in. Weren't amiibos supposed to be fun collectible figures you could use with your games? Something like the Skylanders, but on a more basic level? It's absolutely crazy what amiibos have become. Both Nintendo and the people going crazy about them are to blame about it, but Nintendo has the power to do something to fix it. Here's to hoping they do.
A box for the box.
.....I thought that's what the box was for? Want to make a box for THAT box while you're at it?
@khaosklub
Yeah man, selfishness ftw! Who cares about people on welfare? Bet they can't even spell!
Interesting
I was interested until they looked really bad... they show fingerprints a ton. And then I noticed that they also don't mention any sort of UV protection or anything. Sorry, but I'm not paying for little actual protection.
They used the word "alot". I am sad. Also, they're just boxes! They're just using Kickstarter to get publicity. Oh well. If I was a collector, I probably would still buy these. P.S. Reminds me of this: https://youtu.be/1f6SP932Z7Y?t=1m1s
I respect collectors. I open my amiibo™, but I mainly do it because in addition to wanting to use them, I have no space. But to those that do, these are a great idea.
It's not even hard shell acrylic. Just plastic that's IMO flimsier than the original blister pack. Although I can see the usefullness of soft shell protectors for vintage CIB games, this is just stupid. The soft shell NES, SNES, Atari protectors also sell online for like $1 a piece in bulk.
._. I could find a better quality cases just by going to a Ben Franklin Craft Store.......
"Giving the popularity and lengths that some people have gone to get some figures God himself could melt all the Amiibo's in the world under the Second Commandment 'Thou shalt have no other gods before me.'" Rofl, they got the second commandment wrong, I nearly died laughing.
