The controllers for NSO are one of the few cases where i actually hate Nintendo. They keep scarsity and encourage scalping, and they seem to genuinely don't care about it. I've been a base plan NSO subscriber since i got my switch in 2018. I should be given the opportunity to preorder at least one controller of my choosing.
Already gone in Italy. I hope scalpers get sick of some incurable disease. And Nintendo are just *****. I've been an online subscriber for 4 years: just let me preorder one FFS!!
Honestly, change the formula once again and surprise me Nintendo. If I want to play classic dungeons i have 30 years of the franchise to replay. And keep weapons durability.
@iLikeUrAttitude 😂 you've just been told it was real but got cancelled by the same people that on july 2016 got out an article saying that the next console would be a touch screen tablet with an nvidia tegra inside. I really don't understand how some people are cheering saying "it was never real" after this news. i understand not everyone liked the idea, but it was a logical step, expected by most people. @FishyS nintendo can't afford to cut backwards compatibility with existing services on the market like xbox gamepass, PS plus and a steam deck that can play most of your 10+ year old steam library and can emulate the switch. And they didn't do it going into 3ds from the ds anyway, so rest assured my friend, it's very likely that you'll be able to put your BOTW cartridge inside the new console to play it.
If you pay attention you can hear him speaking in a higher register and almost breaking the voice to go into falsetto, which is what everyone is praising the french dub for. It's fine, they surely have gone through many versions of the voice. Remember: whatever will come out in the end, it's not lack of talent by Pratt, but a choice from the production.
For once i have to say US/EU. While i feel the japanese counterpart is visually more clear and graphic as usual, i feel the "blue+action" suits more the title.
@Ulysses thanks. i love how on a larger scope BOTW is a tribute to ghibli. Don't forget that prince Ashitaka is actually from a remote village. A secluded dying culture, mostly unkown to the rest of japan. The themes are all there.
The godlike figure depicted on the wall could actually just be a dragon. In Creating a Champion the developers admit they designed the dragons to have mammals-like heads, with long ears. Personally i would like it to be a creation thing, much like the spirit of the forest in Princess Mononoke.
Could be useful to point out that Yoichi Kotabe worked on Wind Waker. Just look it up. There's a reason Miyamoto is and will be remembered as a designer and not an art director.
The graphics of wind waker are based on huge anime classics from the sixties, like Gulliver's travels beyond the moon, Puss in Boots and The Little Prince and the Eight-Headed Dragon. It's the actual reason why Wind Waker stands the test of time. And it's the reason we eventually got BOTW with the graphics that it has, heavily inspired by ghibli (Princess Mononoke).
What i would really love is a prologue demo, a la metal gear ground zeroes, that takes place in a repopulated hyrule castle before the events of the next game. Please deliver. Soon. thanks.
@Beaucine i totally agree with your point in general, but skyward sword suffered from being an epic tale developed for Wii, when Nintendo wanted grandpa, grandma, and every non-hardcore gamer to try their library. I hope these few adjustments are all the game needed to shine.
Mmmh Imagine if instead of achievements Nintendo could link my save data from switch games to special features on their retro libraries. I'm near completion on my botw master mode run, some bonus unlockable feature in link to the past would be neat.
Opening a full direct that we were expecting for 500+ days with Pyra and Mythra as smash DLC it's actually a fair rapresentation of the rest of the direct. Like..."yes, and? Oh ok, and? Oh nice! And? Ok now we'll surely have the big surprise" and we got Splatoon 3. Which...yes, I'm up for it but I'm also very suspicious about it.
@Ludovsky no I understand Aonuma's point, it's somewhat factual, and I understand he takes pride in it. It's like he's making a subtle gameplay point that fans totally understand, but the 20 millions of customers that bought BOTW and don't know anything about it won't.
@Ludovsky oh I have no doubt Skyward Sword had a potential that wasn't expressed well enough. And that's why Skyward Sword is Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild is the one that actually is recognized to be the one which breaks the formula a bit 😆. All jokes aside, what I personally enjoyed the most were the sword duels, so for me the game has absolutely so elements to stand on its own legs. Just don't mention the stamina wheel like you invented it please 😖 criiinge
@Medic_Alert The thing about this videos is they don't really explain too well how DLSS helps performance, which would be the point for nintendo. The main point of DLSS on PC is that you can play at the same resolution, say 1080, with 50% more performance in fps.
Again, and i know i'm getting monothematic on this site, to anybody who doesn't see the point, i get you, i hear you. Here's the thing, the point of DLSS for nintendo is clarity, not 4k in itself. DLSS can take a 720 aliased input, and output a 1080 completely antialiased non-blurry image. This is the actual benefit for switch and it's important to understand it so we won't get a massive wave of rants of "told you so 4k isn't a thing" whenever this becomes reality
I enjoy Nintendolife reviews, they're well written and they don't take anything for granted. But i'm curious how a game with pros and cons can get a 10/10. Mmh debatable
Things i know for certain:
1) Nintendo is treating the switch as a portable console, and Reggie recently told us why, so assuming a new refresh won't happen just because it is on pace to outsell the Wii doesn't make sense.
The OG model looks old and NEEDS to solve joycon drifts before it becomes a serious problem for Nintendo.
Apparently joycon drifting cannot be solved without a redesign OR has already been solved with a new design we don't know anything about, otherwise I'm pretty sure it would be solved by now.
You make a console refresh for the same price and put to sleep the original, so you continue to have a cheaper switch that doesn't switch and a refined normal one.
Classic portable console scheme by Nintendo.
(Unless they go the "switch that doesn't switch because it stays at home" route, which is counterintuitive but 🤷🏻♂️)
2) I'm not an analyst, but it's safe to say, as other journalists said, that COVID helped sales. So COVID is an unstable variable for Nintendo, as they were forced to reallocate and boost a production that could halt if the virus doesn't mutate much and we get to go out freely by the end of the year. Many videogame journalists are assuming that once this madness ends, the "game bubble" so to speak will decline. Seems logical. Or it could get worse. Who knows? WHO doesn't, so Nintendo is in uncharted waters. They could just wait and see what happens.
Who knows.
3) a revision comes to the market with a big game, a system seller.
On the list of the games we already know to be in development, the one that's likely to explode in sales is Breath of the wild 2.
Is the game ready? Has it gone gold?
Nobody knows, but Aonuma had plenty of time.
My bet is that at this point BOTW2 and a hardware revision are bound to come out together, so if the hardware sees a delay for covid, so will the game.
12 June 2012, during an interview with IGN:"However it appears as though the company might be taking a different approach with the 3DS. According to Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo is more focused on the 3DS's successor than anything else. "I really feel like I'm satisfied with the 3DS hardware as it is. I feel like it's the best for this generation," Miyamoto told me, when I asked about the Nikkei's recent report about a 3DS XL, and whether his company did have plans for something similar. The Nintendo executive noted that his company is always thinking about what's next. "What we're thinking about right now is probably going to be for a future generation of handheld."
Literally the next week on 21 june 2012, nintendo announces the 3DS XL.
I think the problem with this (technically realistic) rumor is that people expect the next hardware revision to be sold with a big 4K yellow stamp on the box. Of course it's not about that. Get real. I tried for months, and even recently on the forum to explain to people the benefits. Until it becomes a reality, DLSS it's just too obscure for people to understand it's not just to enable a nearly cost free 4k upscale. Imagine a less blurry DOOM16. Imagine a nearly perfect anti aliasing on every game, even Nintendo's, with little impact on performance. It's an added benefit that should come with an overall new design and a better hardware (and solved analog sticks), otherwise I think everyone agrees it's not worth the effort.

@Expa0 exactly. the moment i maxed out the master sword i had no incentive to use other weapons. So thank god even the maxed master sword has a limit.
