Re: Review: The Silver Case 2425 - Style Over Substance In This Pair Of Early Suda51 Epics

having now played it, the complaints about control issues are baffling, especially in the first half (ie silver case)--they're extremely simple, and if you have trouble with the rotary dial style you can just hold l to bring up shortcuts for each command

it also pretty clearly marks spots of interaction and almost forgoes all puzzles about halfway through, so most of its cryptic-ness seems to come from the story alone

having played 25th ward as well now, the cryptic-ness is even less present with the game spelling out all puzzles for you if pressed and the control scheme, while different, is not much more clunky. i can see the complaint about the characters, but there are plenty of likable ones here too. again--baffling review

Re: Poll: So, How Do You Pronounce 'Live A Live'?

somebread

@HADAA i'd argue the tempo implied is slightly different ("liver-live" without the IPA implies less of a stop/more slurring between sounds, could put this in better words but my linguistics course was like a year ago) but yes it's a dialect-based thing

the article is asking how we pronounce it, not whether that's the correct way, i don't really assume there's any argument

Re: This Dark Souls Lore Book Looks Like The Ultimate Resource For Fans

think i'll stick with my dark souls trilogy compendium, thanks, put my faith in the theories of randos like lokey about as far as i can throw them

honestly, to some extent this irritates me--one of the joys of dark souls is theorizing and coming up with your own conclusions, and codifying it in a text (unofficial as it might be) would very easily lead to one common agreed upon theory/people pointing towards it as the "canon theory," kind of dismantling that on the whole

Re: Random: Fake Nintendo Soundtracks Are Apparently Being Sold At Rip Off Prices

reminds me of a year or so ago when i found out some facebook group was printing bootie vinyls of vgm, specifically because of their doshin the giant release ( https://www.discogs.com/release/16673454-Tatsuhiko-Asano-Doshin-The-Giant-OST )--baffled me because i cannot figure out the target audience for a bootleg, but limited press, vinyl in 2021 (let alone people listing it as "rare and valuable")

not sure how i feel about multiverses kind of being the Big Thing in media lately (last 5-6 years especially) this seems to be another one? jurys out right now

edit: that description seems to all but confirm it's something like that. will be interesting, but it feels like it's kind of losing its novelty
