Re: Nintendo Confirms That amiibo Sales Have Now Reached 21 Million

russellohh

@Rob_mc_1 errr......... a potential 200 million? Outside of a few thousand diehard fans, collecting all 50 amiibos (4 million games X 50 amiibos=200 million, i assume that's what you meant)
the total cost per user would be $650, before taxes, assuming every item was purchased on sale and not bought from a scalper. Buying all 50 amiibos on Amazon today would cost about 1,960.
$650 ...That's more than i spent on my PS3, 2DS, Xbox 350, and Wii U...combined. The total cost on Amazon or eBay is more than every game system i've ever owned, plus my 200 game library.
That's not how potential works. POTENTIALLY 1-5% of users would pay nearly $1000, or up to 2,000 on Amazon, to play smash bros and own some dolls. There's no possibly way anyone at Nintendo thought 100% of Smash users would buy all $1000 worth of amiibos. 21 million seems a perfectly valid number. "Every 10 year old playing smash would immediately buy 2 amiibos at $20 each for $4,000" is not.

Re: Nintendo and DeNA Smart Device Game Details Coming on 29th October, With Investors Demanding Specifics

russellohh

@Trinexx When i used a windows phone, i was amused at the sheer number of "totally pokemon red" or "fire emblem why not" games that were clearly the GBA or DS title, sometimes with the word Nintendo scratched out, sometimes not.
The game itself was always a crappy match 3 puzzle game or an endless runner. For having what feels like a few dozen titles, the windows store sure sells a lot of identity theft crap...

Re: Editorial: It's Far Too Soon to Go Download-Only, and Physical Retail Still Matters

russellohh

@donniedarkenson @TheRealThanos I see it as the opposite, actually.(Opposite of what Thanos said, i agree with donnie) When my $400 copy of Earthbound finally gave up the battery ghost, i no longer owned a working copy of Earthbound. Nintendo and amazon weren't thrilled when i demanded a new copy, since i didnt own the game anymore, due to its age. My $10 digital download, which i got on sale for $2.50, is still mine. My Wii digital purchases from a decade ago are still on my wii u, and soon, my NX. Likewise, a $60 older PC game a friend bought yesterday felt to the ground, and cracked- the store won't take it back, and its one of the few games that doesn't come with a Steam code. I picked it up on Steam for $4 on sale, many years ago- still mine. If my entire house burst into flames right now, i could walk to my neighbors house and download the game, for free, legally, and play it within minutes, while sobbing about my burned down house. That $60 disk? He owned the game for minutes. Unless Valve goes out of business tomorrow, i'll own that $4 copy of the exact same game on 5 PCs for the next 100 years. And even if they did, so many digital downloads are DRM free, ill just put it on my Amazon and iCloud, and re-download it whenever. As for pulling the servers- that doesn't change anything from digital to physical. If the titanfall servers are down, i still can't play it if its a disk or not. Owning the disk doesn't magically make the servers reappear, and replug themselves in. Only in SimCity whatever, where the single player requires internet, is that almost true - but it would still be the same for disk or digital. I guess you could say if Steam went out of business, then you might not be able to re-download any of your old games. Well, your keys would still work on the original publisher's page, and even if they didnt, Steam has 50 competitors you can take your keys to, or rebuy the game for ten cents. Theoretically a publisher could POSSIBLY erase your copy of it, but in over a dozen years of digital gaming, that doesn't happen- Rare has pulled DKCountry a few times from the current store, but never once removed it from systems. If you already purchased the game, you can still re-download it, years later.
I read your threads, (Thanos) and you're well spoken and very articulate, and clearly given this a lot of thought, but honestly, everything you said goes against my experience being a nearly digital-only gamer for years. People constantly say "oh no, my dog ate my DS cartridge, guess i need to buy it again for $40" or "oh no, i dropped my $130 copy of metroid prime trilogy on the floor and stepped on it.... now i need to buy it again. " They need to buy these products again, because they don't own them. They never owned them. They own a tiny, fragile, archaic piece of plastic from a long-gone era. While my friend is openly weeping over their $128 copy of Prime Trilogy (check the prize on amazon right now!) I'm secure with my $5, all digital copy of the same series on my wii u, that i bought directly from Nintendo. If my wii u's flash drive exploded this very second? Well, the smell will annoy me, but its okay. I own the digital, cloud-saved backups to every save file and download of the games. It would take 20 minutes to redownload all 7 or so GB and put them on another flash drive and plug it into my all digital wii u. My digital $5 copy of Prime Trilogy, my 25 cent digital copy of Mirror's Edge, and my $4 copy of Skyrim, digital, all grant me exponentially more control, savings, and ownership over titles that, all together, i spent less than 30 minutes worth of paycheck on. hopefully, in a month or two of saving, my non-digital friend will be able to finally afford another fragile, glass-like disk that will shatter into 100 pieces if it so much as gets poked funny. That one metroid prime disk cost more than all 65 of my Origin games put together...

I just double checked my math. That single copy of Metroid Prime trilogy, new, OR of Xenoblade Wii USED at gamestop, either of those fragile, easily snappable, leave it facedown on your coffee table for 10 seconds while answering the phone scratchable plastic games, costs more than my digital, unbreakable, undeletable copies of
all 25 command and conquer titles
the entire metroid series
the entire dragon age series
every mass effect
skyrim
oblivion
and Earthbound
combined.

Digital forever.

@Tasuki You can keep it up all day, and you mentioned many, many consoles from 10-20 years ago. Congrats! You're old. Sega hasn't made a console since my 21 year old best friend was in 5th grade. The Xbox I bought when she was 11. Thank you so much, for being the fanboy of Nintendo- and no console anyone else has made in nearly 20 years. "I only own a Wii U , and a 360, oh and 20 years ago, i bought a neo geo, and back when Bush was on his first presidency, i totally bought an Xbox. now, my opinions of the Wii u are...."
Fan.
Boy.
.
The fanboy is even stronger with you than i assumed...

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd October (North America)

@Freelance i couldn't care less if anyone hates mario kart or yo-kai or persona. But when i'm getting post after post of ZELDA AND YO-KAI ARE GARBAGE YOU'RE ALL DUMB YOLO it just gets annoying. You think games loved by hundreds of millions of people world wide are stupid? Great! Move on. Post on another link. Get a hobby, Get a job. I see stupid juvenile crap like that, I'll call it out.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd October (North America)

russellohh

@Ryu_Niiyama Trust me, if i were going to call out every idiotic troll that goes "incredibly popular well-loved games are stupid, and i'm brilliant for not liking them, you SHEEPEL" it would take all year. Move along, trolls. I have work to do, and if i get one more reply of "i'm 200x too smart to like zelda, mario, mario kart, yo-kai, smash bros, persona, mass effect and all those games are garbage and i'm brilliant" i'm charging you trolls $50 a post.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd October (North America)

russellohh

@Ryu_Niiyama yes, but that typically happens on weeks where we only get Bob's Bowling Adventure, a port of a mobile game.

Barbie is looking at persona, zelda, yo-kai, and going "eww garbage, everyone's opinions but mine are terrible", then posting 10 lines about how we should respect everyone's opinions. When you're calling out three of the largest selling games in human history as garbage that is beneath you, someone can take you to task. Just because she hates popular, fun games that are highly reviewed and well regarded doesn't mean she can be a whiney little *** about it.

Re: Nintendo Download: 22nd October (North America)

russellohh

@Barbiegurl777 All of those ideas are great! You did none of them. you simply looked at a 10/10 reviewed game coming out, a 9/10 game on sale, and said "ugh its all garbage!" Everyone Is entitled to their opinion. So when you learn that, and stop spam posting "every game i don't play is garbage", the rest of us would appreciate it. Thanks!

Re: Sources Suggest Nintendo NX Is A Fusion Of Home And Mobile Hardware Powered By "Industry-Leading" Tech

russellohh

@MJKOP so mario's smash friends, mario's yoshi world, dk freeze, and rayman that i have on Steam.
GRRRRRRR. i likely will pick up yoshi world, tho. was it better than epic yard? kirby super star was really hard around the arena, and the meta night levels, and dream land 2 had some rough boss battles. Epic yarn, however, was unplayability easy. i was afraid yoshi yarn would be the same

Re: Sources Suggest Nintendo NX Is A Fusion Of Home And Mobile Hardware Powered By "Industry-Leading" Tech

russellohh

@MJKOP @rockodoodle Mario Party 10, zombieU both have 60% ratings, and I've played both- they deserved it.
And of course, one is a mario title. So.......mario mario mario, and a title with a 3/10 review that earned it. and yes MJ, Pikmin 3 was good...then you listed a bunch of mario titles i already listed.
So, in terms of games with above a 60% average, meaning total crap
we have
Splatoon
mario 3d world
mario kart
mario bros
mario
mario
mario
mario
and....
Bayonetta.
lego city just squaked by with an 80%.
woooooooooo 4 games and mario!

Re: Sources Suggest Nintendo NX Is A Fusion Of Home And Mobile Hardware Powered By "Industry-Leading" Tech

russellohh

@JaxonH Again, i have well over 2 dozen replies to my comment.
Every
single
person
names mario maker, mario 3d world, and splatoon, mario kart, mario bros, mario mario mario mario.
no exceptions, at all.Literally, not ONE. "There are totally more games than what you mentioned, like Splatoon, Splatoon, and Splatoon".
Thank you. I've heard of Splatoon.
I am seriously contemplating offering a $10,000 reward to the first person to mention a QUALITY Wii U game besides Mario and Splatoon........

Re: Sources Suggest Nintendo NX Is A Fusion Of Home And Mobile Hardware Powered By "Industry-Leading" Tech

russellohh

@MJKOP i'm the same way, and i have no problem spending too much money on games. Its just........ the wii u library is just lacking. No Pokemons, no Zeldas, no Metroids, no Fire Emblems. During the Gamecube days, id always buy the GC version of BMX, Metal Arms, robotech, and a dozen other games. Now, the Wii U ONLY has exclusives- and very, very few at that.

Re: Nintendo Launches Updated Developer Portal Website

russellohh

@CadenH Look up LLC, Incorporation, and a few related terms. You can use Wikipedia for now. Being a corporation typically stops you from being sued to an extent- if Caden the Guy accidentally steals an IP or an asset and doesnt realize it, he can theoretically have his house or car taken as assets. If Caden Company, LLC gets sued, but his office is just a $200 computer and a pencil, then the suer can take...his pencils.

@RoomB31 @MJKOP Ill start by saving I sold 450 video games two years ago, so its not like i'm not big on buying games. I am really choosey about games lately, (mortgage, two car payments, family etc) but honestly.... what are there besides the games i listed? There are no pokemon, zelda, metroid, kirby, fire emblem or fzero games on the wii u. No fallout 3, fallout 4, or dragon age or mass effects. A bunch of indie games- 90% of which are $1 on Steam. What am i missing, people?!
