We're rapidly approaching the craziest shopping season of the year for the Holidays, with Nintendo and its rivals gearing up to compete for our hard earned money. From Nintendo's perspective it'll be focused on exclusives for 3DS and Wii U, most of which will naturally be first-party.
Nintendo of America has now posted one of its Holiday New 3DS TV commercials online, with this one focusing on a mix of old and new titles. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is joined by whippersnappers The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes and Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon in promoting the portable. Notably it's still the New Nintendo 3DS XL leading the charge, as the smaller model is only available - at the time of writing - as part of a bundle with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
It seems sensible to focus on three of the biggest franchises, while the emphasis on the XL model is hardly surprising considering the hardware options available in the region.
Check it out and let us know what you think of this commercial - is this good Holiday marketing for the New 3DS?

Buy a NEW 3DS today and enjoy.........2 exclusive games you can't play on older models!
I plan on getting SMD for christmas so this furthers my hype!
US gets SMD earlier and we in Europe get M&L earlier. That's a good deal, if you ask me =)
@Angelic_Lapras_King To be fair the DSI didn't have too many exclusives.
@mariovslink62 Expect that entire online DSi Store with over 200 games.
Say what you will about the quality of those games, it's still more then those 2 New 3DS games...
Not a bad commercial since it's probably marketing specifically toward children. It's just a shame there aren't any 3DS games on my holiday list this year. I'm not saying there aren't any good games to pick up this holiday season for the system, there just aren't any that peak my interest.
@Angelic_Lapras_King Dat Amiibo support though
On a more serious note, I recently upgraded to New XL, my motivations being the ability to play Monster Hunter with the C-stick + Binding of Isaac and Xenoblade.
@Angelic_Lapras_King I know that Xenoblade is the exclusive but what's the other one? Issac? Which is something that you can play on steam as well?
@Artwark I wonder, I don't recall anything else myself ATM
Still, the gameplay of Isaac fits a handheld greatly in my opinion. I own it on Steam and probably will on 3ds too. Same with Terraria.
I love seeing 3DS commercials.
@Artwark Yeah, but as far as the 3DS version goes, you can only play it on a New Model.
Even before the New models, the XL was the system always features in commercials, so this doesn't surprise me.
You know I can back talk all I want about my New 3DS but at the end of the day I like it for all the little improvement. But that being said, I wish we could get something for upgrading, makes me feel like I upgraded too early, lesson learned. When the NX comes out I'll get it bundled with the Pokemon Dazzling Diamond and Perilous Pearl edition games.
@Angelic_Lapras_King And one of them was designed specifically to offend people!
Holiday commercials already. Halloween hasn't even passed yet. Guess they're getting to it early this year. Eventually we'll see it as early as the day after Labor Day.
I really want that SMD game. I'm hoping by the end of this week to order the New 3DS for myself. I want to be able to customize my 3DS faceplates. I just hope they release those awesome Pokemon faceplates that Japan got. They look amazing. Not really excited about the Triforce game and already have Smash. I saw a commercial for Yoshi's Woolly World on Disney channel tonight. It looked amazing. Haven't gotten it yet though. Really want it!!!
I've been buying uses DS games because I've exhausted the 3DS titles I've wanted to play. Nintendo isn't releasing anything I'm interested in.
It is kinda sad that after a year, there's only two New 3DS-exclusive games, and both of them are lower-resolution ports of games that came out on another platform years ago.
How did they not mention the port of the best game of all time... Xenoblade Chronicles?
@Angelic_Lapras_King 3* gl playing super smash bros FOR 3DS on a Wii U. that and smash run.
EDIT: misread that, one then... since the 2nd exclusive I think your talking about is also on Wii U.
@leo13 new 3ds exclusive, not everybody has one...
The new 3DS doesn't need exclusives, the stable 3D is reason enough to get one (judging from what brief store demo time I've had).
That said, I clicked in here to verify that the smaller model still hasn't surfaced in any form I'd be willing to buy. Yep, nope, article answers my question perfectly.
People seems to be negative towards N3DS. Understandable since it didn't get more exlusives or games that fully utilise its features. But I'm happy with my N3DS. And it appeared in the perfect time for me.
The old classic 3DS has pretty broken touchscreen which is so inaccurate I can't even type on this thing. It is like 0.5 cm off from the position of the stylus, to the left or right depending on the side of the screen - and for someone who actively makes art on it, the inaccuracy was very annoying. And on top of that, the overall shape of the system, and its buttons is looking pretty broken...
New 3DS was a good choice for me as I definitely didn't want to buy a 3DS XL system (I experienced DSi XL - hard to carry and pixels everywhere). N3DS is still small enough to fit in my pockets. And its screens are bigger (and DS/Virtual Console games in original resolution look very nice! No need for magnyfing glass.) but not big enough to disturb me with those harsh pixels. And the 3D effect. Oh, I love it. If only there were more cover plates to choose from... At least in my region, kind of stupid to import a piece of plastic for like 30-40 USD.
@manu0 But I am pretty sure it was a 2016 game after the digital event, it's just that NoE updated the release date. NoA might do the same.
@Parkour_LMan So? Doesn't change my point. And at this point NoA won't be moving M&L to this year, lol.
@Angelic_Lapras_King True. If it weren't for my kids breaking my 3DS XL in half, then I wouldn't have purchased the "new" XL model. But on a positive, I always play my 3DS with the 3D all the way up so the steadiness of the "new" model is truly appreciated. Also, RE Revelations is a joy to play on the new model. Great for Halloween
@KTT The better 3D effect seems pretty cool, but my 2DS was $75 brand new. I could only get about 50 for it if i sold it, and the new 3DS is 250 ish. Paying $200 for that 3D...ehh. I'm holding off for the NX!
@KTT I had that problem with the touchscreen, too, but then I figured out that you can reconfigure it through the system settings, and now it's much more accurate.
@BulbasaurusRex I did try reconfigurate it several times, making errorneous inputs on purpose, but that didn't change much. The only area where old's 3DS records the stylus input correctly is right in the middle of the screen - a sweet spot. The farer from the center, the inaccuracy increases, (being bigest in 1/3 of the screen, it slighty decreases moving stylus even further) no matter how much I tried to "fix" it in the settings. It really saved me that Colors! 3D have zoom feature, without it drawing would be a hassle. But using MiiVerse, notes or keyboard (and even shuffling in Shuffle) was hell.
@russellohh Fine enough, especially if your older system works just fine. I was about to change the system but I waited because I had that feeling in my gut they will anounce something New (pun intended). N3DS is still not perfectly perfect (eg c-stick instead of circle pad) but it is indeed a nice upgrade and was definitely a good choice for me and I'm really happy with it!
Making erroneous inputs on purpose shouldn't have had anything to do with it. Are you sure you went to "System Settings -> Other Settings -> Touch Screen" in order to recalibrate it?
