Absolutely NOT. I haven't used this technique myself (nor am I that interested in it right now), but removing it at this point would invalidate people's legitimate time trial scores and/or render them unbeatable. That would be a terrible, terrible decision. My design philosophy is that once a game's released and players are fighting for high scores, you leave the game alone unless something is horribly broken.
Also: a 1-2 second advantage over the course of 3 laps will practically never matter in a chaotic online matchup.
Aw mannn, I got my first three eagles in the new open (and BARELY missed getting an albatross — the ball was moving just a tad too fast and glanced off the pin), but I screwed up my last drive and finished the final hole with a double bogey.
@Damo "Polygon put on its best games journalism hat and delivered a remarkable piece of reportage". In an article about selectively picking out negativity from the internet about a hot new product (which is somewhat akin to selectively picking out crabs from a barrel full of crabs), in order to stir up some good old-fashioned community ire. Whilst also accusing a website of insinuating racism for pointing out a lack of skin color diversity in the character roster. Self-awareness, dude.
I'm getting to the point where I'll buy most of my games digitally unless I think they're something really, really special that I want to have a hard copy of (like P4G and FFXHD). I'll buy games like Mario Kart digitally simply because it's more convenient.
@shigulicious He'll keep making $50,000 a day as long as people keep playing it. Removing a game from the app store doesn't stop people who've already downloaded it from using it, and the ads will also still work (which is where he's getting all of that revenue).
I never downloaded the game because it looked pretty damn terrible, but after reading the horrible, horrible things people have been sending him I feel kind of bad for the guy.
The Wii U VC is a total joke right now, but if they released everything at once most of it all would be buried forever. I hate that they're doing it but I can see why they are.
Just wanted to point something out real quick: film/television and video games are very different beasts. It's one thing to watch Walter White murder innocent people on TV, but it'd be quite another thing to actively engage in helping him to commit murder in a video game.
@Snkfiend Oh I know there's no chance in hell that it'll die, but I still wish it would. It glorifies and engages players in [virtual] depravity, and I believe that to be wrong.
(and by "die," I mean that I wish no one would buy it, and it's sad that people do.)
I fail to see how anyone can extract any genuine pleasure from extended torture sequences where you're expected to pull out someone's teeth and electrocute them to gain information, or feel anything but shame by visiting a virtual strip club.
Didn't read the whole article, but I actually agree here with Damo for once. It's disgusting that this series is so popular. I gave Chinatown Wars a brief chance just to see what all the fuss was about, but I dropped it quick. In what warped universe would I want to help the bad guy commit crimes?
It's a seriously messed up series, and it's one of the very, very few that I honestly wish would die out.
How is this even being argued? From a hardware standpoint the Wii U seems to be barely more powerful than current gen consoles. There's no way it'll be able to churn out what the PS4 can, and that's a simple, easy-to-understand fact. I can certainly understand developers not wanting to waste time scaling down graphics for a system that has barely any install base.
This is going to be a Wii situation again. It's going to survive (or thrive) on exclusives and Nintendo's brand power.
^^ lol, seriously. It's all going to come down to whether Nintendo's games will make it sell. They probably will, we'll just have to wait forever for that to happen.
I find it amusing that people are PO'd at this. Yes, Amazon should bow and humbly ask pardon for trying to sell products.
That they hardly ever have Nintendo consoles in stock is a bit interesting though. Maybe it has something to do with the 3DS screen scratching debacle awhile back?
Damien is a much bigger "douche" for running/allowing this story and that pic to begin with. Enjoy the mindless fanboy hate you're intentionally stirring up, I'm sure it's lining your pockets nicely.
It's funny because I've been thinking basically the same thing about the 3DS that he's suggesting - I basically want a bigger, more powerful GBAM. I hate the clamshell design and the dual-screens, and I couldn't care less about 3D.
What he's saying about MH is BS though. Tapping L swings the camera towards the monster, and even after spending 200 hours playing with dual-analog controls in Tri, I felt comfortable with the slightly new scheme within seconds — I'd go so far as to say it even makes the game easier. If I had to guess I'd say he's probably never played a MH game before and is just struggling with the controls in general, which are nearly identical with previous versions.
Mannn I wish they'd add online at least as DLC or somethin'. I thought they did a great job with the controls in the demo, and despite the framerate drops it's a really pretty game.
I'll pick it up eventually; I already put 180 hours in MH3 so I'm not in a hurry to jump on this without the online component.
@Slapshot I think you misunderstood me — I was referring to NL's posting these Pachter articles as inflammatory/embarrassing. I really don't care what Pachter says about Nintendo, one way or the other.
