Meanwhile, Pokemon Shining Pearl was not on Top 30.
Peoples really like Diamond than Pearl.
Monster Hunter might be right there again next year with Sunbreak
@Anti-Matter Look again, Shining Pearl is #5.
@JasmineDragon
Oh, yeah.
At number 5.
I didn't noticed that. 😅
Can somebody please tell me how among us, a game that died long ago in literally the second half of 2021, did better than smash and mariokart?
@Slinkoy1 Market saturation I would guess. This is the list for 2021 isn't it?
Nice. Monster Hunter Rise for the win. ^^
Aw I was hoping to see Bravely Default II and Shin Megami Tensei V up there. Oh well, I could see why these two are going multiplat soon.
I wonder if Pokemon Diamond/Pearl would be higher than rank 3 if they were counted together.
Also, I'm impressed Miitopia snuck onto top 30
I am just shocked and ecstatic to see a Metroid game doing so well!
But depressing that lots of old games, I.e. Pokémon Sword, have sold better than Metroid Dread. Also, SMT V not even breaking the Top 30…… 😩
@Anti-Matter,
You got me looking at the list, but the Pokemon game is there, perhaps like me you just assumed it would be In first place.
@Slinkoy1 Among Us is very cheapnand digital only, except for a very expensive special edition. Mario Kart and Smash sell more physical.
@quigtendo maybe because SMTV just came out a few months ago?

Wish we got figures. Since Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were listed separately, does that mean together they would take the #1 spot?
@Slinkoy1 just because you and your friends stopped playing it does not mean it “died”. It’s definitively not at its peak, but it’s still a rather active game. It’s always been more of a “play with friends” than “with randos” game, though.
When that game sells to someone, it usually sells copies among all that players friend group.
There was so much noise about Metroid Dread that one would think it would have easily broken the top 10.
But as i predicted, the majority of people will not see value in a game that takes less than 10 hours to beat, has no replay value and costs $60.
When spending $60, people want more than a game you can beat on a single weekend, go figure.
@Gamer_Zeus its has nothing to do with that. Metroid was never big in Japan. Doubt Human Fall Flat or Clubhouse Games have much on the replay value.
@Wiss2wiss yes still surprised that a high profile JRPG release didn’t manage to break into the Top 30 in Japan though, even with about two months sales
@Gamer_Zeus my son is addicted to it, beating it at least four times now. He found it too stressful and scary at first but he absolutely loves it now, much to my Eternal surprise. It absolutely does have replay value.
I wish these lists included actual numbers…
SMT Is a niche franchise. It sells better in US. It’s not as mainstream as Persona series.
@Specter_of-the_OLED dumb logic. MH Rise is literally #1 on the list and soon is gonna be multi-plat regardless. Also SMT V will be multi-plat “soon” just like P5 will be.
Monster Hunter Rise at the top? Japan kind of based.
@Specter_of-the_OLED SMT V just released and it becoming multiplat has not been confirmed at all.
@Arawn93 Monster Hunter Rise is a multiplayer game and Capcom wanted to expand its player base even further so of course it make sense for that game to be multiplat. Shin Megami Tensei V and Bravely Default II are single player JRPGs, games that usually sell well in Japan but often doesn't stay in the top 10 best seller chart for long so it make sense for those to also become multiplat so to cater to a more hardcore audience and make better profit from the games.
@WallyWest Not confirm but is a back-up plan on Atlus part since it's in the data mining leak already. It really depends if the game sell well on Switch or not for the long run. If not, going multiplat is its plan B.
