The bosses are no harder than previous Zelda games. It's just more people are playing these games then ever before. Expect these "difficulty complaints" to increase year upon year as gaming expands further and further.
Amazing Article! Really makes me wish for a Switch port of the 3ds Ace Attorney games and Apollo Justice! Would be fun to have a X10 worst cases too from the series as a counterpart. 2-3 Turnabout Bigtop springs to mind.
The only console most people have in the UK is a PlayStation. Of course, Nintendo and Xbox have their fans but the blind association with gaming and PlayStation is one of the reasons the whole Activision Blizzard deal thing is having the UK as a sticking point.
You shouldn't have played Limbo after Inside. It's like playing Portal 1 after Portal 2!
Why didn't you just play Limbo first? It's still a very very good game. It's only inferior when looked through the post Inside lens. And it's really not that hard or infuriating at all....
One major omission.Yoshi's Crafted World - Haunted Level with Clowns and Knives! Wow was that something else. Such a calm gentle game and then you're suddenly running from a giggling knive wielding maniac clown. I can't think of a bigger contrast in gaming.
@Friscobay enough with the sexism! Men and women should be treated equally and both have their opinions heard. Please take your sexist drivel elsewhere.
Are the South Park games not on switch too? Stick of Truth and Fractured but Whole are also incredibly Paper Mario 1-2 esque in their game design as well.
Definitely disagree that Bioshock Infinite is a "bad" game in any sense of the word. If anything it's an underappreciated masterpiece whereas Bioshock 1 is a recognised one.
@NatiaAdamo 70% of the player base is not on switch. 70% of the game sales are switch, but the game launched day 1 into Xbox game pass. Essentially masking 1 of the 3 console developers figures for the game.
Glad to hear progress on this is going well. Don't be disheartened Gilbert and Co. A long time Monkey Island fan here, I love what I see and I absolutely cannot wait to play it and get stuck in. I've got my Grog, Voodoo Spells and Three-Headed Monkey all ready to go!
Not playing Portal is like not having played Super Mario 64 or Doom. One of the most important, industry changing and fantastic games that has ever been released. Both games are masterpieces to this day. Play them.
So excited for this. Not just the games but the museum mode, interviews and all the lovely extras that tend to come with Digital Eclipse games. Something I'd genuinely consider getting Day 1, even though it normally goes against my principles.
Good job he didn't find Mario Kart. Nintendo's lawyers would have been onto him in an instant for daring to show their game on something outside an official Nintendo channel.
What a fantastic read! I had no idea these Pokémon retrospective articles existed. Great article and I'll be reading the other 8 over the weekend! Kudos Nintendo Life 👍
@GrailUK I always thought of it as Dont being one word without the apostrophe. The lack of grammar threw me all these years. So I was calling them "Dontnod" with Dont rhyming with Font, Want etc... I knew it never made any sense, but I also knew they were French...
Whilst I don't want any reviewer to feel unwell, I can't help but be concerned at the admission that the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles game wasn't finished and completed before a review was done. If not the reviewers fault, the site in general is poor as how can anyone review a game without finishing it. The current problem with video game journalism today in a nutshell.
My favourite Video Game adaptation ever is Castlevania. So many nice nods and touches to the games, whilst being able to tell a good story along the way. Will be interesting to see if the new series is as good without Warren Ellis on writing duties.
@MrGawain This x1000. Downloaded golf story in the sale also to hit the download error. My tip for you is to keep clicking on the icon on the home screen and then "continue download". After a few minutes it should eventually work.
Thanks for the sale tip. Unfortunately the update switch bug meant it took several restarts of my switch to actually get the download to work. I'm hoping in the E3 conference Nintendo can also confirm they've been able to fix the damage the last update has done to consoles.
River City Girls 1 was absolutely superb. Great fun combat system (matches Streets of Rage 4 in my view), amazing soundtrack and plenty of replayability. One of the most pleasant announcements of E3 so far with the sequel and older localisation.
No World's end club as a side mention? That's also a solid title, not perfect but also well worth a playing for fans of Zero Escape and Dangonronpa. Very much enjoying Famicom Detective Club myself I have to say.
There are several four letter words to describe the individuals in that video. Were I to state them here I would be forever banned from this site, but those men most certainly are each and every one of those four letter words....
@KateGray Then why does the tagline have dub in it?
I clicked on the article expecting there to be an announcement about a dub?
(I prefer Subs but that tagline is very misleading)
My switch is going strong but I mostly play docked. Only playing handheld for flights and train journeys (back when those were a thing). I'll definitely need Nintendo to fix the Joy Con drift on any switch pro before buying one however. Two left joy cons drifting so now only using my Pro Controller as well. I shan't hold my breath.
Can we all refer to this as Sonic Colours please and not Sonic Colors?? As a British/European site and considering the game originally even had the name officially changed for the region over here as "Sonic Colours" it would be nice if the author of the article didn't automatically defect to American as opposed to the English language.
Can't help but feel Satoru Iwata's loss all the more with the direction Nintendo seem to be going. It's also very clear to me that things have gone downhill further since a certain Mr "Bowser" took up a more prominent position as well. Sales may be great for Nintendo but the long term fans are being royally screwed.
I had to dig out my old Prima Strategy Guide from the garage for the Sunshine replay on All Stars. Compared to Mario games innovating and being brilliant it always feels like Mario Sunshine is trying to iterate on the Rare N64 Platformers. Sunshine feels more like DK64 or Banjo Kazooie than an actual Mario game. Hence this blue coin shenanigans.
@ThanosReXXX So true. The Y and X axis from geometry is what always gets me when I switch consoles. I also don't see the logic in it. Going from Tony Hawk's 1+2 on Xbox to Marvel Alliance 3 has killed me.
This article a thousand times. I own all three consoles and every time I play switch I constantly mix up the X and Y buttons. The A and B ones are fine, but why the Y button is lower than the X on the controller is beyond me. At least on the GameCube the X and Y buttons were both above and to the side of the large A one. I eventually get there, but as the article do truly states....many deaths later.
@nessisonett For what it's worth I'm with you in agreement on this. I don't get the Epic games hate either. In the past year Nintendo has had anti consumer limited time physical and digital releases, and people are calling out Epic Games as a villain?! I'm not chuffed that another Indie Developer is gobbled up by a big gun, but totally agree that Epic/Nintendo/EA/Activision are all the same these days.
Reading the comments where's the love for Famicom Detective Club?! That's some genuine old Nintendo history coming out for the first time in the West! Mario Golf, No More Heroes, World Ends Club, Ninja Gaiden, Capcom Arcade... Genuinely a really good direct.
The most amazing thing is these Gal*Gun games are made by the mighty Inti Creates. I picked up Double Peace a few years ago based upon the strength of the developer and the games really are mechanically boring and just not fun at all. Maybe the 3rd dimension is a curse for them.
Far far far too may ports in this list. At first glace around a third is entirely old games... I don't think old ports should be eligible unless they are a full on remake ala Resident Evil 2/3. I love No more heroes 1+2 to pieces but they really should not be in this list....
Very fun but wow is it hard at times. I still have no idea what to do in the Timeless Room... Had to turn the difficulty down for one room as it did get too much. There's an element of randomness with some of the disc spawning which can give the feeling of tarnishing a good run. But the quick restart is so instantaneous that I'm trying again before I release I'm annoyed. A tad pricey at around £13 I'd say but it will probably be a game I'll come back to in chunks, so may yet get it's money's worth.
@AhabSpampurse I'm afraid so. Not just from the TV but also when Sylvia rings from the disco too... Thankfully the HD visuals and blood being restored make up for it. But it's worth knowing. I also found the Wrestling moves significantly easier to pull off with the controller this time too
Couple of notes for those after I've 100% the game yesterday. 1) Whilst the blood is back after the EU version having it missing, the Genki Rockets song has been removed both from the TV and the soundtrack itself. 2) The baseball missions are no longer wiimote sensitive, so striking harder is tricky compared to the original. 3) Loading is a tad longer and the loading Minigame no longer functions properly. 4) it's still an absolutely amazing game and one of my all time favourites!
Couldn't disagree more! New N Tasty is much more playable compared to the original, looks better, sounds better and is a faithful remake that just improves on things. Complaining about precision and atmosphere is nonsense. I played the original a year before I played New N Tasty. The precision and atmosphere are perfectly matched. This reviewer is just living in the past with nostalgia goggles on. A proper review please Nintendo Life...
You missed out Disc Room which is also out today. That has looked fab from what I've seen and is a Devolver Digital game. Definitely worth adding to your list here for people to see 👍
Only play handheld for plane or train journeys. Or when I go on holiday. Otherwise I treat it like any other home console. The analyst saying to remove docked mode has obviously been smoking something...
I feel like this is the first ever gen of gaming where Nintendo have dropped the ball. Yes, saleswise it's great but some of the admirable qualities of Nintendo are fading. Quality control was a cornerstone of Nintendo and the drifting is appaling. The limited time releases of digital content is something even EA and Activision don't do. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was missing from All Stars (ok that last one isn't as bad...)
I wonder if there's some management change in the company causing this slide. Concerning...
Just started this now and so far it's more of the same. I like how the Legendary Pokémon aren't part of the Crown Tundra Pokédex, meaning it's much easier to have a full regional Tundra dex without having to worry about legendary trades.
