Konami has provided our first proper look at gameplay for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection. The extensive video comes courtesy of PlayStation Underground (so no Switch gameplay specifically here) and includes gameplay from several of the games included in the collection.
What's nice is that it looks like each game comes with its own custom border with key artwork, though it's possible this could be an addition specifically for the YouTube video - here's hoping not! Regardless, the games themselves look like solid ports of the originals, with authentic visuals and audio throughout.
At the time of writing, there's yet to be any news on a solid release date for the Cowabunga Collection, but it's earmarked for sometime later this year. We'll be sure to update you once we know more. In the meantime, you can always check out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge from developer Tribute Games; we thought the game was spectacular in our review, calling it "the best Turtles beat 'em up ever made".

cant wait for this! loved shredders revenge, but that was a warm up for this! 😄👍
Everything but a release date
I won't be surprised if this ends up a Limited Run Games release at the end of the day.
@CharlieGirl
I reckon LRG will probably do a distribution release, but multiple retailers are already accepting pre-orders for this game with a "December 31st" release date.
So excited for this. Not just the games but the museum mode, interviews and all the lovely extras that tend to come with Digital Eclipse games. Something I'd genuinely consider getting Day 1, even though it normally goes against my principles.
@CharlieGirl DekuDeals shows it being available from three physical retailers, so I don't think you have to worry in this case.
This and Shredders Revenge are my most wanted games for 2022. Got Shredders Revenge just waiting for this now.
Already pre-ordered from Best Buy several months ago. This just needs to be a physical own for me
I love how comprehensive this set is! Tossing in the Game Boy games and all three Tournament Fighters games (they are all very different) really makes this worthwhile, plus it will be great to have the arcade authentic originals too.
in 1990, I never would have believed that 2022 would be the best year for Ninja Turtle games
Just gimme the dang release date already!!!
I am amused at how the co-hosts avoid mentioning any other platform that is not Sony. I get why, but it is still amusing.
Now that I have shiny, new, modern Shredders Revenge, I'm not sure I still want TMNT arcade.

That's cool.... but I'd much rather have a release date. I don't need people telling me how great the games were, because I know how great the games are.
Arcade Turtles In Time is phenomenal
Growing up through the TMNT craze of the 80’s, I’ll tell you these games were so hugely popular, especially the first arcade machine. Getting to play with others using four separate controls on one cabinet and then finally having it come to NES was insane back in the day. This collection is on my shortlist for the year - just need a release date!!
C'mon Konami give us a release date.
I just want the release date lol
Turtles 1 and 3 for the NES( well Dendy in my case) where two of my very first games I ever played. And the cartoon was one of the first cartoon series I watched. It was a time when american media started to come over to Russia. So I am also very excited for this release.
Shredder's Revenge will be a birthday present , together with Pocky and Rocky. This year has really cool 90s stuff.
@Advantage They were so popular. I felt like The Arcade Game just lived in my mind rent-free for months on end. I'm also really hyped for this, especially after playing Shredder's Revenge!
Dang, still no official release date. Hopefully that August 30th release date is true.
Really want to play Manhattan Project on switch years before cfw becomes an option to me lol
I have nostaglia only for the NES and SNES games, so the price is a bit to high for my liking. I'm gonna wait for a sale.
Just need that release date.
On the one hand I want it, but on the other hand Shredder's Revenge was peak Turtles, so I kind of wish I played them in the opposite order.
@WoomyNNYes I'm the same. I had hoped this collection would arrive first but then it never. I tried to hold off on Shredders Revenge but ended up buying it last week. I'm not sure I need the collection now.
I love watching them try to talk about classic NES and Game Boy games without saying Nintendo. I too remember my youth playing the Eight Bit Home Console.
I really wish Konami would figure out how to make their games full screen. That's pretty disappointing that even Turtles the Arcade game isn't full screen. Hamster with their Arcade Archives let's you adjust the screen size however you want. This should be standard. There asking $40 for this? I could overlook before because they were budget releases, but you have to do better at that price point.
@thinkhector 40 bucks is pretty great for 13 games
i think while realistically you could scale up to full screen for the two arcade games.. you have to have them run on a different emulator or mess with the coding and that's a lot for a budget title
@CharlieGirl just be patient. It's not going to be a LRG......
@jimmyvalentime too bad Sega didn't take notes from this for sonic origins.
@jimmyvalentime Yesh, but l like I said: "THIS ISN'T A BUDGET TITLE!" That's the problem. The games should be full screen. Period. Stop. All of the NES games on Virtual Console Online are full screen. This is an issue that Knoami keeps getting away with. I overlooked it in their other collection because they regularly go on sale for $5. I'm not paying $40 for this. They need to fix it.
Cowabunga Indeed!
More Heroes in a Half-Shell, Turtle Power!!!
... Wun can only hope!
This is my big want of the year. There’s so many games I’m sure I’d like but haven’t gotten but this will be an instant grab. Those games were my childhood and I know the arcade one still holds up. Always thought the gameboy ones looked great but never played them and could never get far enough on the nes one (but I did beat part 2 😉) Get me this game asap
Yup watching the video brings back memories. I spent a lot of quarters at the arcade for arcade games and played the nes and game boy games. I’m looking forward to playing this collection.
