It's been a tough week for Super Mario fans - a handful of his games have been taken away by Nintendo, including the discontinuation of the Switch Online exclusive Super Mario Bros. 35.
If you didn't get the chance to play the game on the final day yourself, our video team (comprised of Alex, Zion and Jon) has got you covered. They took this chance to have one last session that ran for just over an hour.
While they weren't about when the game went offline, many players (including the NL crew) have now shared screenshots of what now pops up when you try to go online with the game:
Did you get in any last-minute matches of Super Mario Bros. 35? Would you be open to its return? Share your thoughts below.

I haven’t seen enough articles about Mario dying on March 31st, can you post more?
Farewell Mario 35. See you at Mario 40!
(Honestly, they could keep adding to this for anniversaries as tech advances! Mind you, I suppose folk would still complain. smh)
I thought I would play SM 35 one last time but meh. In the end it just wasn't worth it for me.
@Handy_Man Just click on literally anything else. Come on.
Cutting this off was worse than not selling the 3D anniversary edition...you had six months to get it. Nintendo Online is pretty lame as it is. Taking off something cool is NOT a good thing.
It was a good time waster. No more than that. I personally have zero problem with N decision to remove it.
Four days later and we're still getting articles to all things March 31st.
Can't help but feel Satoru Iwata's loss all the more with the direction Nintendo seem to be going.
It's also very clear to me that things have gone downhill further since a certain Mr "Bowser" took up a more prominent position as well.
Sales may be great for Nintendo but the long term fans are being royally screwed.
While I did enjoy the game every time I played it just didn't completely hook me as I thought it would. It's definitely a fun game and concept for sure. It may be apples to oranges but Tetris 99 is my jam. As @Axlroselm just said it was a good time waster. I won't think I'll miss it very much if at all.
@pip_muzz
I doubt Bowser has any say in things like this.
Iwata was in charge when they released the limited edition of SNES Mario All Stars for Wii and charged 50 quid for it.
Nintendo was much more anti consumer in the old days to the point they couldn't state RRP in Europe for price fixing charges back in the day.
Basically everyone complaining about Nintendo now is suffering from some serious rose tinted glasses syndrome.
@pip_muzz They were pulling off stuff like this even when Iwata was in charge
All Stars on Wii was not only limited time and similarly priced, but it was practically completely unchanged from the SNES version and wasn't even based on the more complete version of the game that included Super Mario World
Are they shutting down Mario 35?! I really wish this site had warned us!

@neufel,
Come on, there has been more than enough articles on the subject, and the advertising clicks must be a factor.
@pip_muzz I had an nes, snes, And n64, then I started doing drugs and dating. Now I’m married and have a switch my first system since the n64 and I couldn’t be happier with Nintendo.
I downloaded it but literally never played it.
@FineLerv
You missed out bud, was great fun.
Enough with beating the dead horse, NLIFE! We know it was taken down. You've only reminded us 47 times.
I played it a lot on it's final night, I think tons of people were. Took quite few screenshots just for the memories, it's a shame the game was so short lived.
@TheFullAndy Yeah, I know. It's just that my gaming time is so limited these days. I still haven't tried Tetris 99 either.
@FineLerv
Recommend that too but it is rock hard.
I was able to win Mario 35 many times but 2nd place is the best I can do in Tetris 99 after many hours of play!
