With the majority of Nintendo Switch games aiming to get their moment in the limelight before the release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in December, it's raised questions about when exactly the Diablo III Eternal Collection will arrive.
Blizzard has previously stated it should be released "on or before" 21st December and a new listing by Target now suggests the game could be arriving as soon as 2nd November. According to a Reddit thread via GoNintendo, this release date aligns with the first day of BlizzCon 2018. If the game was made available then, it would certainly be a nice way of kicking-off the annual Blizzard event. This specific date also goes against existing retailer listings using the placeholder date of 21st December.
What do you think, can you see Blizzard releasing Diablo III Eternal Collection on Switch well before December 21st? Would you make time for this game once Smash has arrived? Tell us in the comments.

"Would you make time for this game once Smash has arrived?"
The answer is "Yes".
Handheld Diablo 3 everywhere I go? Yes.
Also releasing it on the first day of Blizzcon seems like a smart move.
I always figured it'd be fun for them to release a week or so after Blizzcon, and have copies available for purchase early AT Blizzcon as an extra bonus for those who go. Either way, having the cameras showing people playing together on their Switches between panels would be some fantastic advertising.
I'll be getting Smash Bros. but it's a game I usually only play for a bit here and there otherwise I get a little bored. Other games are much welcome.
Can't wait to spend hundreds of hours into the game ... again!
This is the first time Diablo is released on a touch screen device, I wonder if they have support for it? It will be better than mouse, squashing those monsters with my finger.
Not a rumor this is true., I'm trying to think this way and will it to be true., lol. With this and Victor Vran Overkill Edition, which is spectacular fun as well on my Nintendo Switch I will be in gaming bliss till Smash Bros Ultimate gets released., Man the Nintendo Switch just freaking rules right now, it is quickly on its way to becoming a completely must have gaming console. If we could just get an updated e-shop and some home screen themes it would already be there.
It wouldn't surprise me if they did. They need a big Blizzcon announcement this year and with WoW just releasing the newest expansion a few weeks ago I don't see any big WoW news happening. Likewise I dont see any big announcements for Heroes of the Storm or Hearthstone and except for tournament scene Star Craft is pretty much dead.
hmm. this might be a December or January 2019 buy. as I'll be per-ordering smash in November of this year.
@Nincompoop its really not diablo if theres no spaming the left mouse button. Tried it in PS4, loses some of its magic when using the controller
day one buy for me. can't get it early enough.
Can't see a better date than 2nd november, specially since that month looks pretty empty so far, only with Pokemon.
Also I bet Ark: Survival Evolved and Team Sonic Racing will be released within that month.
@diwdiws
I plopped 5k hours (2001-2003) in D2 and 1k into D3 and wish I was able to use a controller during those times as I found the game easier to control on my cousin's PS4 copy. I do not like using the mouse to move and spam in these types of games unless its a 3rd person view (which I hope the 4th entry switches to for more of an MMO style hybrid experience like D3 was originally going to be).
I think that sounds like a realistic release date, spread out enough from the big 3 1st party releases with the time between Super Mario Party and Pokemon Let's Go pretty much being another 3rd party focused timespan.
Whoa, there's a totally inappropriate swear in this that has totally shredded my delicate sensibilities. plz fix thx
Diablo III is gonna be a title to get for sure. Kicking it off day one for their con, though... I mean, if so, that day's a wash, outside of all of the money they'll make. Attendees will just be glued to their Switch screens. lol
I don't care when it comes, I'm buying it day one.
Can't wait to play it, it will be the first Diablo game that I play.
@TurboTEF what? are you implying that its easier to use a controller rather a mouse? Really its basically click what you want to hit, click where you want to go
@diwdiws
For general movement, yes, twin stick controls are superior to me vs clicking to move away from an enemy attack/aoe
Meanwhile, I have to play FFXIV with a KB/M because playing an MMO with a controller is terrible to me
I'm weird, okay
@TurboTEF a little bit weird handicap. but ok i guess?
@TurboTEF on the flip side, there is no targeting in Diablo when using controllers, so... pick your poison
Sorry, for thr multiple posts
I'd play this over smash anyday.
As someone who has followed video game news for a very long time, I've learned never to trust a release date until it's announced by the developers or publishers themselves.
My wife and I will be getting it regardless so to me the sooner the better
Smash and Pokémon.. meh pass. Diablo 3 on the other hand. **** Yeah
I could make all the time needed and I will as I like actual GOOD games, not mediocre fan service. I won't touch a Smash game again, ten foot poll commentary could follow. That brawler is played out, boring as hell, especially if you want nothing to do with the usual online stereotypes into it.
Diablo console controls have always trumped for actual combat the PC version. I happily put up with the load screens into dungeons on Diablo1 for PS1 just to not have to put up with the click choices. Clicking makes menus easier, combat crappier.
So looking forward to playing this game again.
PC, PS3, PS4 and now Switch! Happily grind away a few hours.
For those that are new, spinning those swords is a great way to spend your time but doing it in Hardcore mode is even better! Nothing like swinging a knife edge on a knife edge!
