His name is Bernie "Stolar" typo in the title. But anyway this guy hated Japanese videogames especially 2D platformers and JRPGs and was very anti anime he intentionally campaigned for only games that westerners would like on the, Saturn, Dreamcast and early PS1 days which is why there were barely any JRPGs and amazing 2D or 2.5D gems while he was in charge. He actually was the one that got to decide that we would not get localized some amazing 2D platformers and RPGs because he had a 0 tolerance policy for them. So as a hardcore SEGA and PS fan I can safely say we really blame him for the fall of the Saturn and Dreamcast in the west and the initial terrible games available on the PS1

Did Miyamoto forget that the Super Nintendo came with Super Mario World or the NES came with ROB and other games bundled like Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros.?

Rarely comment but I just have to say this game is awesome and a breath of fresh air. Lots of replayability, kinda interesting story and the gameplay is great and a lot of fun. There are a lot of mediocre new beat em ups that have come out in the last decade and this isn't one of them. Highly recommend to fans of beat em up games like Final Fight, Double Dragon or Streets of Rage and to fans of say something like Splatterhouse or Hotline Miami because this game is a like a cross between both of those. Also there is a lot of depth to the combat and stuff you can do.

Breath of Fire 1-2 on VC first JRPGs since Earthbound on 3DS right?
Hopefully Super Mario RPG and Square Enix SNES era JRPGs are next and America gets them too!

Bought my 3DS at launch and have only had 8 real streetpasses.
Seriously Nintendo needs to release a thing where you can connect once a week to 3DS friends and streetpass them online so we aren't all left out. This is getting ridiculous.

Xbox 360 version or PC version has the original music tracks which are amazing.

I'm very Very VERY angry and disappointed by this and I feel like they are PURPOSEFULLY delaying it now just so it can simultaneously release on NX and Wii U on Q1 of 2017 so it looks good in their fiscal report earnings.

Very sad about this Nintendo Wii U owners should be getting Zelda in 2016, Its been delayed now 2-3 times? and we were promised 2016.

Bittersweet story but nonetheless I find the atomic bombings in Japan to be disgusting. Not only did those bombs barely kill ANY military soldiers but they killed MANY innocent people that weren't even a part of the war. Cowardly display of power.

Thats all nice and dandy Nintendo but what about the removal and censoring of ingame stuff though?

Did Japanese players complain about the outfits being too revealing so you changed them for the west?

Also SMT fans and JRPG fans in general are fine with having "unhappy endings" in stories so if you feel regretful for a decision we live with it. Heck many WRPGs have morality decisions that you don't agree with and leave you feeling bad when its over.

I'm just worried Nintendo will stop releasing SNES 3DS VC games after this month or something like they did previously with NES and GB/GBC games. We got 1 every few weeks and after we received like 10+ games they just stopped.

Very sad missed opportunity and I can think of 50 games I want on the snes vc for 3ds.

Would be a funny prank if you visited NoA's headquarters with a 3ds like this in your pocket and everyone streetpassed you and started questioning each other if the game leaked or something lol.

Where are the RPG elements?

Pretty sure these mobile phone users don't even consider themselves gamers so I fail to see how they could be the core audience for Nintendo.

This is the slippery slope, first they remove costumes and then Nintendo localizes games and removes actual story content.

Removing story aspects is absurd.
Imagine if Shin Megami Tensei IV only had 1 ending instead of the 4 endings you can choose just because Nintendo felt that the "kids" that would be buying a T or M rated game aimed at JRPG fans would be sad by the bad ending in a game...

Played some Sega 3D Classics after hearing this.

Removing Indians and replacing them with Cowboys is like actual history.
I actually think they made it worse by replacing it. Maybe Japan thinks westerners hate Indians and we must love Cowboys because thats what they associate with America because of movies?

Again with this? Stop it Nintendo. Pokemon X and Y are Rated E and allow for petting the Pokemon all over and Fire Emblem Fates is Rated T and had you petting characters on the face and it was removed? I don't understand the gaming world we live in anymore where removing content from the Japanese version is perfectly normal and fine to do. This is very disappointing.

The game is more of an 8/10 in my mind because its fun to play with friends but if you play alone then its a 7/10 game.

About time Final Fantasy games started coming to Wii U VC. Seriously Square Enix why did it take you so long to localize vc games for the west? Most of them have been out in Japan for years now.

Well technically there have been studies on older people that don't play Sudoku or Crossword Puzzles and those that regularly play them and it showed that the ones that did had brains that functioned faster, were able to recall things easier and didn't have any problems remembering things or solving problems in their minds while the others struggled more.

I think simple exercises are always important for the mind.

This is pretty cool it would be nice of Aonuma notices this and maybe gets inspired for a Zelda U dungeon and makes it reliant on sound and noises instead of relying on seeing similar to the Shadow Temple in OoT relying on what you cannot see.

I find it disgusting when voice actors/actresses have no respect for the Japanese artists vision of a character and what the original version of the game was intended to be. As a voice actress/actor you are an artist and should respect art just like the game developers in Japan would respect your art in voice acting.

2015 didn't have many good 1st party and even 3rd party Wii U and 3DS games... Sees like all the good stuff is coming in 2016.

The whole meeting Lisa in Mario Kart 8 again and her being "your love" and stuff and you didn't even ever meet her or know her age or knew if she was even a real girl? I mean for all you knew it could have been a 12-16 year old girl or something or it could have been a 35 year old guy just using a female mii for fun.

Nice story and nice ending but there are some stuff here that most people should be wary of when meeting people online this is the 1 time in a 100 where it goes ok and things are actually what they seem.

Japan already has like almost all the NES, SNES, GBA and DS Final Fantasy games as well as Chrono Trigger and Secret of Man and they've had most of them for years now... I highly doubt we will get them in the west. Square Enix NA/EU seems to have forgotten about Wii U Virtual Console sadly

Also this censorship actually makes the game more racist by refusing to have a Native American outfit and instead switch to it to a Cowboy... that is like replacing African tribal outfits in a game with an American plantation owner from the South. No seriously its on that same level.

By censoring it they made it worse.
Kingdom Hearts has the Peter Pan world with Tiger Lily and the Indians and that is a Square Enix game and Assassins' Creed 3 on the Wii U has Native American outfits and indians so why censor Bravely Second?

This is pretty dumb considering that many T rated Western and Japanese RPGs allow for full character customization, including bust size.

Why did Nintendo feel the need to remove a character creation feature that is in just about every RPG with character creation for the past 15+ years?

Before this happens our fellow Nintendo fans in Europe need to receive the original because it was a big disappointment that they never received it.

Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey is another one Europe never received. I guess Atlus just hates Europe or Ghostlight didn't care about publishing it over there.

I appreciate Nintendolife more than any of the other dedicated Nintendo sites like mynintendonews or gonintendo even if they do post more news their site layouts and writers aren't as good as Nintendolife in my opinion. Plus I really enjoy the Nintendolife opinion and story articles written by the staff (^_^)

Censorship IS Censorship.
We should be getting ALL costumes but instead removing and replacing costumes gives us something different than what Japan received.

Why remove the costumes in the first place? Why not add new costumes and keep the old ones? Bayonetta on Wii U kept old costumes and added new Nintendo ones.

Why couldn't Fatal Frame V do the same?

Obviously its Nintendo being parents to adults buying an M rated game again and I"m getting sick of this.

2015 has been a bad year for the Wii U and even the 3DS but more for the Wii U.

Hardly any main series franchise titles no new main series Zelda, Pokemon, Mario, FZero, Metroid, Paper Mario etc.

My honest opinion is that Nintendo is slowly not caring for the Wii U as much anymore and are busy developing NX titles so Wii U games get slightly delayed because they are starting to care more on NX title development now.

2016 will probably announce the NX and maybe Zelda U will be the last big Wii U game and it will be multiplatform with the NX like Twilight Princess.

Honestly as a long time Nintendo fan I'm a disappointed in Nintendo's treatment of the Wii U and how they refused to give us main series games instead we get side spinoff games and experimental games that we didn't really want.

I have a similar story about playing and loving Super Mario Land as a child. It was my favorite Gameboy game and I played it so much and I always needed new batteries. My favorite level was the Egyptian themed one and I loved the music.

Lies and excuses, I expected better from you Nintendo.

Small indie companies and even studio like NISA and XSeed managed to localize way more niche titles than Nintendo yearly and those companies have very small budgets compared to all the money Nintendo has.

Nintendo is just using excuses, he should have stated that priorites at Nintendo aren't for localization but not that is "hard or more complicated"
