it's genuinely such a blast to play a Very Dreamast-Type Game in a way that nails all the best parts of that era of games. like, the reason people keep bringing up nostalgia imo (aside from the obvious, long live jsr / jsrf) is that it really just hits all the high points of sitting down and picking away at something very ambitious and Fun that got washed away with the advent of the Ubisoft Open World Formula. i think if people enjoy games where you Build Speed and Go Fast even if you hadn't played jsr / jsrf you'd still enjoy it. honestly well worth it for the price point if only because Nobody is doing it like this anymore and i think thats something to support

edit: imo it's good when indie games charge a lot also but that's neither here nor there

oh i didnt realize it was from the Red Strings Club people!!! this has definitely shot much higher on the list of games to check out when im not swamped, i love when games commit hard to "look you're going to have to make a choice and keep moving"

excellent game. the characters and the way it feels to be slowly exploring more of the nooks and crannies of the station while running into even more threads about the people you meet was....so wonderful. I've been waiting for the last DLC to hit before I do another run but i'm still tempted to jump back in now anyway.

i got the collectors edition of this because i heard how good it was and it's really wonderful seeing this team get to grow and build off of the incredibly strong foundation they set back during labyrinth of refrain. and even though the story is definitely MUCH less bleak than refrain (at least, as far as I can tell from where I'm at 60%/thirty hours into the game), it still really knows how to pack a punch. what a weird thing! i'm really hopeful this one gets the attention that it deserves

the character writing in gnosia is SO GOOD. genuinely takes advantage of the time loop format in such a fun way.
edit: and not to be predictable but "you can be the third nonbinary character on the ship if you want, the other two are the best character (I would and have died for them) and the worst character (said adoringly)" was such a selling point for me

@Moistnado It got out that their CEO at the time, Matt Conn, was harassing a ***** ton of his staff and made it a super hostile work place. I know he resigned and some of the other senior staff left but I don't know how much of his enablers are still running around. It honestly makes me kinda sick to see him trying to pal around with like, SWERY and other devs to try and rehabilitate his image after getting outed as a creep and awful boss like that.

That said if the money isn't going to Conn or other people who were abusing their power in the company I'm definitely going to have to check this out when it finally comes out.

I got it on release day and burned through it faster than any other VN i've had before, it's genuinely a very neat take on the things that it is

I remember seeing this coming soon on the eshop- i've been waffling over if I wait for more reviews to come out, but even the C-range reviews have gotten me very intrigued in how this goes. The fact that some of the major characters are non-binary (although going by something I saw in a review, handled very...frustratingly? to put it one way?) might actually be one of the things tipping me over into just trying it out now.

I know that it's like 95% judges recognizing big names but I'm really holding out hope for Ikenfell to win, it really snuck in as one of my favorite games of 2020 at the end of last year. I loved the character dynamics and the ways it explored a lot of gay and queer stuff in a really casual way that you really don't see in media that isn't lgbtq-led. Plus, how often do you see key party members with neopronouns in games?

@Scrubicius "Property is fake" in the sense that "property" is a concept that we made up, and not something that has any inherent actual natural worth. Property, typically has no real relation to the physical object itself in any way that a normal human being would conceive of without being taught- a landlord "owns" a couple apartment buildings, even if the tenants are left to their own devices to take care of upkeep or the "owner" never sees the building outside of a cursory inspection. Not to stretch the metaphor, but we see the same thing with intellectual property: the game is not "owned" by the people who made the game themselves, but by the broader corporate apparatus. No matter how any of the designers and builders of the game may feel, they ultimately have very little control over this thing they have made themselves because it is not "their" property. Even when the people who made, or even just associated with the creation, have long since croaked, the object itself is "owned" by a corporation that is entirely tertiary to this (mickey mouse's marathon sprint from public domain being a clear example of this). The "ownership" of this IP is fake, because it's arbitrary, and decided by the people who would profit most from this and not from a more democratized process or the wishes of those actually involved in creation and usage of the "IP".

Or, in conclusion, property and laws are fake and you are simply mad because you are angry
