In France, films are always being released on wednesdays, I think it's a legal thing so it happens quite often that we get some anticipated releases earlier than some other countries. Years ago, I read that some big Star Wars fans came to France to watch one of the newer films before other parts of the world.
18/21 but this quiz is harder for Europeans like me as we didn't have the same covers for some games. Some games never even made it to our shores back in the day!
@Princess_Lilly Oh no, the steelbook is going to be an international version but the discs are going to be exactly as the ones you can currently buy. Authoring new discs would cost way too much. Big Hollywood studios always repack their discs in new bundles, steelbooks and so to boost sales but once a disc is created, it's just used over and over.
@Princess_Lilly I understand your point but the disc is supposed to be sold in the USA and Canada where people from Québec are native French speakers. This dub is actually in French Canadian which is different from the one from France.
And btw, the film was mostly animated in France.
Plus, the iconic Mario voice by Charles Martinet has always been in English even in Japan.
@Princess_Lilly The Japanese version is a dub based on the English script si it makes sense that it has the original English version and the other languages spoken in North America.
Even if it has strong Hokuto no Ken vibes, the art doesn't seem as refined as what Tetsuo Haro used to do at that time. However, this art style makes senses considering how popular the manga was at that time in Japan.
I vited for the japanese version, no matter how iconic the NA/EU cover is, it looks so generic compared to the japanese cover.
I got myself a pair of IINE Elite Joycons and at least, I can use them as a separate controller. The idea is nice (the joycons are definitely way too small for adults) and it looks good but there are better and cheaper alternatives. I chose the IINE ones but there are also the Nexigo and NXYI controllers that are basically the same.
I think that the art style is not as good as the first game... They added too many effects and it looks rather generic compared to the lovely style they created inTurbo. However, I will pick this one eventually because I really loved Turbo.
@RupeeClock So true. When I first read the title of this article, I thought it was about fixing the D-pad, which is not half as good as a Nintendo controller should be.
I also have 3 8bitdo controllers but the Pro controller was supposed to be perfect for the Switch and they have different purposes. The Pro controller also lacks analog triggers when used on PC but it is not where it is supposed to be used so I can't consider it as a flaw unlike the D-pad.
Nintendo just needs to be clever in the way they will name their next system, I think Wii U and 3DS were not easy to understand for non-gamers whereas the way Sony named its systems is really easy to understand. Switch 2 would be obvious and not confusing even if the name would be underwhelming, everyone could understand it is a new version.
@Serpenterror Look at the main illustration, you can see the 4 turtles, April and way too much space on left-hand side. If Splinter is not in that illustration, it means that there is room for more playable characters so I guess Casey will eventually be announced and will be on the main art.
@Specter_of-the_OLED The Wonderboy series has always been about confusing players. So I guess this exclusive version of a collection with the same name makes perfect sense and somehow consistent with the mess Wonderboy games have always been.
The idea is pretty good but the button placement is not really ergonomic... Which is weird from a company that makes most of the best arcade stciks available.
As a French reader, I can tell that the resellers asking for 330€ are seen as expensive (like Micromania aka Gamestop France), the price asked by 90% of sellers in France is 299€, however, we have seen some discounts happening from times to times.
In the last few weeks, I have seen a few offers at 269€ (I often check Dealabs for that) so that would make perfect sense that this price would eventually become the new regular price.
About Chrono Trigger on PS1/3, in Europe, we cannot play the original PS1 disc on a PAL PS3 as the discs are still region-locked but it is easy to create a US PSN account and buy the game from the US store as there is no lock on downloaded games. I did that quite a lot when I wanted to get some games to run at 60Hz instead of the slow PAL versions sold on the european store or to get games not available in my region. With an HDMI scanline generator and once the smoothing is turned off, the games are just perfect.
@nhSnork Unfortunately, no matter how popular the anime was, we didn't get a proper localized version of the earlier Tsubasa games either. Bandai localized some "anime games" in French as Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya were already popular but Tecmo decided otherwise for its Tsubasa games and released Tecmo Cup instead for all westerners whereas it would have been a huge success in France, Spain, Italy and probably some other countries... Like you, I am sure that a good game could have introduced the licence to countries where the anime was not on TV.
However, localisation would have been difficult as all countries tempered with the names of the characters.
Tsubasa not famous in the West? Maybe in English speaking countries but in some other European countries, it was all the rage in the late eighties/early nineties. (I am from France btw.)
@Shnaps And the French version was translated by Nintendo historian, Florent Gorges. I bought a few volumes in French (my native language) but I have to admit that I didn't really enjoy it. It is not the way I imagine Mario outside of the games and the design is far from Kotabe design.
It's a shame only covers Sonic games released on Nintendo consoles. I think the PC is now the best way to enjoy most of the best 3D Sonic games as they are available on Steam and often bundled.
Sonic Generations really looks amazing with a decent graphics card on PC.
@presenttense I have the same question. Plus, I don't have a Nintendo Online subscription at the moment which means that I will have to pay to play online whereas online will be free on Steam.
In France, Mario Bros. had the same cover as the US version. This cover might have been used for budget/classics re-realease.
And the Japanese version might have been drawn by Miyamoto himself as this how he draws Mario.
I sold a PAL Little Samson (loose) as part of a bundle a few years ago for about 75€... I think you just made me want to go hiding somewhere people won't see my tears...
The M30 is the only controller that feels like an improvement over the original Saturn controller, it is wireless, compatible with many other devices and it is sold for half of what is asked for this controller... And the official bluetooth Retrobit x SEGA Saturn controller is also going to be sold really soon for half the price! I don't know who is going to buy this considering the target of such a controller.
This illustration is quite a nice hommage. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Dragon_II:The_Revenge(NES_video_game)#/media/File:NES_Double_Dragon_II_packaging_front.jpg
Same here but I know why I do not enjoy it. When I was a kid I spent countless hours on VS. fighting games such Street Fighter 2, various KoF and many other 2D games. Because of the strict rules in these games, I felt that SSB relied too much on luck but the detail that made me undertand why I felt lost is when I recover, my character is not face to face with the oppponent and that's one of the most confusing thing in a fighting game. I bought SSBU back in december, spent about 10 hours and decided to sell it.
Zelda Ultimate Collection which will include Link to the Past Remaster, Ocarina of Time HD, Link Betwwen Worlds HD and Wii U ports of Wind Waker HD and Twilght Princess HD. Emulated 8-bit and Game Boy games as "bonuses". I would pay the price of the console if something like that is getting released.
I bought a 256gb card from Wish about a year ago for a price that was too good tout be true and indeed, the card actually had 8gb of physical storage despite showing up 256gb un Windows... Hopefully, I was able to get a full refund but in the comments, I read that many people were using these cards for their Switch and weren't aware that they were using Fake cards....
I feel puzzled. In a few months, Retro-Bit will release official bluetooth Switch-compatible SEGA controllers that look as good as they were 25 years ago, and on the other hand, 8bitdo has always released controllers that are highly recommandable and the new form factor and the triggers seem to improve the original design. I might have to wait a little bit to make a choice... or buy both! xD
I have the SFC30 controller and among the thing that makes it great, the D-pad is exactly like the one found on SNES controllers. However, on these controllers, the D-pad looks like NES one... Not sure if it will be convenient for fighting games...

Re: Mario Movie Scores A New "Limited-Edition" Steelbook, Pre-Orders Live
@HammerGalladeBro Oh that's funny that he also played in the latin Spanish version. He also did that for the French version.
I just checked his wikipedia page and the guy is actually fluent in French and Spanish so that makes sense that he would star in the dubs he could do.

It's going to be released in France too and it won't be a store exclusive. So it is quite likely going to be available in other European countries as well.

Re: Feature: Switch 2's Mouse Support Is Exciting, But Which Current Games Might Also Benefit?
Even though it won't be as good as a proper lightgun, but House of the Dead could be nice to play with a mouse-like device like the PC ports.

@Valkian24 It was quite likely done by Koji Ogata.
