Re: Guide: Which Switch Games Are Not Compatible With Nintendo Switch Lite?

kuliddar

Reading comments here like "well they are no great loss". This where people think too subjectively. One of the big pushes of the LITE is to bring in the younger crowd at a more "affordable price'. Most of their ads go that way. But, one of the most popular franchises for that crowd won't be available to be played on Switch Lite. I present to you "Just Dance". That's going to go well during the holidays....

Re: Hyperkin Isn't Quite Sure What Route To Take With Its N64 Clone Console Yet

kuliddar

@Cosats Almost illegal. What the heck does that mean? It's not illegal at all. Quite frankly its the first of many N64 clones that will be released in the future. It serves a purpose for people who just want to play from time to time. I have no need for it since I have original hardware but I know quite a few people that have been waiting for a device like this.

Re: Hyperkin's Next Party Trick Is A Nintendo 64 Clone

kuliddar

Very interesting. I acquired again a N64 to hook up to a CRT but I might still get this down the line as a back up like I did for my Retron 5. Looking forward to the reviews of this. Like others mentioned, this will likely open up the clone 64 market. But heck, I`m just waiting for more affordable TG16 solution lol

PS - I hope 8bitdo will start looking at N64 controllers now

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want From A Switch Mini?

kuliddar

I doubt a mini would come with a dock. In Japan, they already offer a sku with no dock for the current switch. However as long that IT CAN BE DOCKED then that's fine. Fused controllers is almost a certainty if they go smaller. In any case, I would get a smaller one for my son if its compatible with current docks.

Re: Video: This Personal Video Game Collection Is The Greatest Of All-Time

kuliddar

@johnvboy That's pretty much what he's saying in that video. He probably does make more money that many of us too though which is fine.
I think what many fail to realize is that game rooms just don't get built overnight. Its years of collecting, vs space, vs financials vs where you are in your life. There was a good thread on reddit on this recently and looking at the type of response was that many individuals with now dedicated game rooms are in their 40s. There is no instant grat on this. 7 years I've moved with my family into my house and finally this year starting to built it. Should be ready in 6-12 months Nowhere near this extreme though rofl

Re: Nintendo's French Boss Says We Should Expect More Switch Announcements From EA

kuliddar

Not to pop anyone`s bubble but EA hasn`t done any remasters. Last official statement is that they rather look forward than backwards. That being said, Burnout Paradise is being remastered so that could be a change in policy for EA. So maybe all consoles will be getting the original trilogy of Mass Effect remastered that everyone wanted. I`m not holding my breath though.

Re: Nintendo Reiterates That It's Not Interested In Virtual Reality Or 4K Support

kuliddar

Totally agree. Even more so that an affordable 4k solution for the Switch is pretty much impossible at this point. The majority aren`t even interested in 4k....they just upgrade to it because that`s what is being offered on the market. Personally, I couldn`t even care less. I`m still running with my two 1080p plasmas and have no plan to upgrade them any time soon.

As for VR....pfff....glad Nintendo isn`t wasting much of their time on that. Its a gimmick when it comes for gaming and will remain a niche market.

Re: SNES Classic Edition Won't Be Sold In Canadian Province Of Quebec

kuliddar

I think its ironic something like this happens on the 40th anniversary of law 101 which is why this is happening. Its an archaic law that imo no longer has its place in a lot areas. I always understood the fundamental of the law and agree with it up to a certain point. However over the years separatists and anti anglophones have perverted the law for their own agendas.

Whats worst in situations like this is that people, like yours truly, just ordered it and had it shipped elsewhere which in turn did not encourage the business' in my province and did not give the government his tax portion on product sold.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

kuliddar

I managed to get one at 2minutes and 7 seconds after pre orders opened on BB Canada. I'm pretty happy.

There is a bigger issue and I don't think Nintendo is fully to blame here. Scalpers are using bots much like concert and high profile sports team tickets. Its a plague but people are suckers and still buy from them so unless its deemed illegal worldwide , this kind of practice will continue.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

kuliddar

@Shellcore Dude, just using his name to put in a rant on Nintendo and trying to spin it in one direction or the other is such a douche move. Of all things he mentioned, this is one thats going to stick to many. Guy easily forgets that most Switch players have another console as well and might not even pick up a title of his...if he ever comes up with anything else even if its only, say on PS4.

Re: Oddworld Creator Lorne Lanning "Has No Faith" In Switch

kuliddar

I think it comes down the Odd World is no longer an interest point to anyone except nostalgia players. In the the world of social media today, even a couple years ago, blaming someone else because you couldn't get promo is a load of BS. I suggest he looks at what FDG has done so far. Funny how they are in the top 5 on Switch pretty much everywhere in the world right now.

Cartridge systems didn't stop third parties to stop supporting the VITA as well....just saying.

Finally using Iwata's name for excuses is completely disrespectful and low no matter how you try to spin it.

Not saying Nintendo is perfect. Far from it, but this kind of ranting is simply burning bridges between the dev. and Nintendo's player base.

Re: Video: Unboxing and Testing the New Nintendo 2DS XL

kuliddar

I have an original 3DS XL. Considering the only 3 remaining 3DS games I'm interested in (so far anyways), Ever Oasis, Metroid 2 and Mario+Luigi Superstar Saga don't even require "New" 3DS, I have little reason to upgrade it at this time. I probably won't too. I would like to concentrate on games for Switch.

Re: Sega Forever Aims To Revive The Company's Past On Mobile, But Could Come To Switch

kuliddar

@Damo I think he knows but retro is pointed to nostalgia and a lot of these players hardly play on their phone or tablet, they do it on home and handheld consoles - even buy specific emulators for it.

For sure its a quick way to make a few dollars but even my 7yo enjoys playing more on a console than on a tablet even classics such as Ice Hockey for NES.

Anyways, on my end, I'm not even bothering to have a look. Bring it on as VC type like NeoGeo if you want then I'll look. But its just fact that playing on a tablet is worthless 98% of the time.

Re: We Know There's An Appetite For Virtual Console On Switch, Says Reggie Fils-Aime

kuliddar

@impurekind Did you buy the Switch for VC or for new games? I bought it for both fully knowing that VC will come. If I would of just been concerned with VC I wouldn't of bothered getting a Switch and just would of stayed at this time with my Wii U. I bought a Switch for new stuff first and then VC. I want VC just a bad as everyone else but I also know that Nintendo is pushing Switch to what it can do now and in the future...not in the past. Its marketing 101. I will agree with you that what is frustrating is the way Nintendo always escapes the question. Going back to interviews since the Switch official release announcement, I'm thinking they originally had planned it at launch then potentially hit some sort of snag in whatever they planned to do then decided to put it on the side and concentrate on the "here and now" which was wise imo (if this is what happened of course). I always go back to the following statement from Reggie during a Wired interview back in Jan.

Wired: Is there going to be a discount for us if we buy the games again on Switch?

Fils-Aime: What I would say first is, we recognize that some of our most passionate fans have spent quite a bit, whether it’s with Virtual Console on Wii or Wii U, and we recognize that consumers are rightly concerned about moving to Nintendo Switch without backward compatibility. My comment is: Stay tuned, we understand the concern, more information to come.
There’s 40-some odd days between now and launch. There are more details to come. And at that point we’ll be able to define all of those various details of that online experience.

Re: Talking Point: EA and Bethesda Highlight Nintendo Switch as a Portable Powerhouse at E3

kuliddar

I think that if a publisher goes on saying that its portable but still asks to dish out 60USD/80CAD for a game, there is a serious problem.

Here's my thoughts: I don't want gimmicks and I don't want butchered ports. What I want, while fully understanding limitations in some areas, is the best game/game port that a dev/publisher can give. I might be alone, but I truly think that doing an Amiibo feature in Skyrim is wasting manpower and gimmick where the game could be even more polished considering its roughly half of the special edition. They didn't need to have Amiibo nor motion controls, people wanting to get Skyrim on Switch would of bought the game anyways.People that are not interested because they either have it already or just don't like the genre, the gimmicks won't add to their interest.

Re: Three Months After Launch, People Are Still Queuing For Nintendo Switch Consoles In Japan

kuliddar

@NEStalgia I can't speak for the US, I said I lived in Canada so I base the experience on that. You have the direct channel and the distributor Channel. Direct channel will usually go to the bigger box stores (BB, Walmart, etc) while the distributor channel (which gets its from the Direct Channel) will send it to whatever business is affiliated with them (mostly the independents). So I got mine at a Microplay which a competitor to Ebgames in Quebec only so its not a huge company but they are direct and get a constant flow fo Switch every week. Like I said, I called them at first, they said call Monday or Tuesday. Called Tuesday, they got them, reserved one, picked it up the next day and they had a dozen there. Its the cycle they do every week. I saw a few independent video stores that are not direct get them as well. I even came across one unit at a Shoppers Drug Mart. I actually saw a couple at Walmart too locally but I think that was a fluke lol. In any case, they are there. I had very little effort to do to get one. That said, I guess it depends where you are in the world. Fact, Canada has a lot less population than the US

Re: Three Months After Launch, People Are Still Queuing For Nintendo Switch Consoles In Japan

kuliddar

@Danpal65 The stock "issues" seem to be only in certain areas of the world. As some others posted here, in several other countries its very little wait or no wait at all to get a Switch. I'm in Canada and when I decided to finally buy a Switch it took one week and a few phone calls to local retailers.

What we often read as in "restock" tweets are like "Back in stock at Amazon, Gamestop, Best Buy,Toys R Us", etc. People don't bother looking at smaller or independent outlets that usually have a batch in stock every week. People should start looking there instead focusing on big brand stores. The price is the same in the end and your odds are better.
