The issue at hand is also the buying habits of gamers are changing. GamePass and PS+ is taking a lot of users time. Nintendo is already very late on its base online services, now its even worst. The economy also is not helping as many decided to hold from buying any new games (again GP and PS+ comes into play).
I will buy Sparks of Hope as I loved the original game, but no game now is worth paying 80$ CND when there is such an offering of services. I will buy Sparks of Hope down the line...just not right now.
My god! Its a friggin Kart game!!! This whole fisco is almost as bad as the SW Battlefront II mess up when it was originally released. I don't know what the hell is wrong with SquareEnix but it's been really going downhill for the last few years. Jesus....
You can really see the Journey vibe on this game. Simply adored Journey so I will definitely check this out on Switch. I'm surprised that Sony didn't grab this considering the success of Journey on PS3/PS4.
I have the original on PC but will get the enhanced edition on PC and might pick up at someone point the Switch version as well. Planet Coaster on PC (the spiritual sucessor of Roller Coaster Tycoon made by Frontier as well) is fun, but I never felt it was as magical than RCT3.
My GBA SP AGS-101 make GB, GBC and GBA games work. It's easy to find as well and much cheaper than this. It's cool about transferring via dock "a la Switch" for a screen experience but there are several ways to have this on the big screen. In all, its a nice slick product but that is overpriced for what it is.
@pip_muzz It is and it looks pretty good with the filter options you have within that package. I also have my original NES cartridge so this is a no for me.
In the end, those on the road a lot just get an extra dock or bring their current ones with them. Its cheaper and smaller. Just hook it up to your hotel TV.
Happy this is finally coming to Switch. I have the first one and enjoyed it. In fact, FDG Entertainment has been releasing solid games in the last few years. Monster Boy & The Curse Kingdom was an absolute joy to play; Blossom's Tales was fun trip through nostalgia and Venture Kid was a nice attempt at Mega Man.
The few that I have bought have been great. I was actually playing Double Dragon last week. Tweaked it in settings for best display like the old days. Still have a whole bunch in my want list.
I was subscribed to Nintendo Power for years. It was always special to receive the latest issue. When I was a kid, I thought that Nintendo was talking to me directly as the magazine had my name on it and not my parents in the mail box. Nintendo Power and Electronic Gaming Monthly (first run) will always have a special place in my heart. BUT...as much as this is a great idea, it will not work. Paper publications have been struggling for years and even more so now. Locally, there used to be 4-5 gaming magazines on the stands every month. Now it's 1-2 only...if they are there at all.
It's nothing new. Its just simpler to access. It was always there.
That being said, last night I was playing some Wii U and went in the eShop. I thought to myself, "Why can't we have at the very least the same UI?" It would be so much easier to navigate through.....and less bland as well.
@Toy_Link I think there are still some copyrights issues for the N64. Another reason why you don't really see any clone systems of the console anywhere.
Cool if Mario Sunshine finally gets the remaster it deserves. I would expect though that the first title to come out of this would be Super Mario 3D Worlds as it is an easy port from Wii U to Switch.
@NEStalgia 8k is more a flashy gimmick than anything else and the human eye cannot tell the difference. The only media it can help is gaming, nothing else...but that's likely not enough. Movie productions are still in 2k and the few that are over this get a 2K DI for distribution in theaters, the same applies for streaming (4K streaming is, well...not really 4K). Its also very expensive to produce in 4K+ which is why many don't bother in the first place.
But yes, long term its going to be streaming one way or the other but probably not for another 10 years.
Very surprised by this. Unfortunately, Gamestop (EBGames here in Canada) is on its last few miles. Even the renewed EBX stores can't save them. The reputation these stores have, plus the little games vs trinkets and knick knacks there are on shelves and the usual holier than thou attitude from employees all comes to one inevitable thing: Permanent closure.
People may still have a hard time accepting this but digital is gradually taking over and looking around, I see Best Buy having very little games on their shelves (just top stuff), Walmart is again more mainstream stuff. Here in Quebec, a major player is shutting down all of their stores in the province gradually over 2020. Enjoy the upcoming next gen consoles folks as it will be the last one with physical discs.
Unfortunately E3, as we know it, is on a life respirator. Technically even Microsoft isn't truly on location as they present in their own building across the street.
I still believe that E3 is a good platform for developers / publishers / gamers to come together so a scaled back E3 is likely. Lets not forget it is still the most watched conference and its a launch vehicle for holiday products.
@OorWullie Despite dev stating the the sales are poor across the board and that Switch was actually the best one, I still believe that once again a game got lost in the load of gems that no one can find due to the poor UI of the eShop.
Absolutely loved Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battles. I'm actually doing a second play these days. The DK DLC was fantastic as well. I'm curious where that would lead if it was indeed a sequel. New characters added? Could it become a little bit like SSB where more Nintendo characters join the fight?
I could`t watch all of it. This is so much a blatant rip off of the switch its insane, all the way to the joy-con grip which looks almost like a Dreamcast controller when their ''joy cons'' are connected.
@Minfinity I know right. There is so much stuff in there that, with the crappy UI, it's pretty much impossible to find that hidden gem let it be on sale or not. I use the wishlist a lot. It's the only way I found to at least keep myself up to date on games I find interesting on the eshop. Don't understand why Nintendo is so stubborn in keeping this UI.
My wife is going to want this. She plays the heck out of it on Wii U. However I wonder if you need to hold the joycon in your hands. The Wii U version has this leg belt where you put the a Wii Controller and off you go.
There has been a lot of changes to the marketplace recently which really makes me think of just putting the crap I can't sell elsewhere on Amazon. Their policies are starting to go against sellers and I'm wondering if they really want a real marketplace at all or just one with distributors that will get fulfilled by Amazon.
You need to fail sometimes to get better. Basic principal of learning. I enjoyed (still is) Wii U for what it was. It had great games on it that were often in the top 10 rated every week. But the marketing of that thing was just awful and I grew tired very quickly of the gamepad especially when being forced to play on it when co-op. I played 90% of the time with the pro controller only. Still no regrets in having one.....and its still has some of the best version of some games for that generation such as NFS Most Wanted and RE: Revelations.
PS - Wii U still has a better eShop UI than Switch. There I said it...
Despite owning a nice GBA AGS 101 which plays is BC to GB&GBC I might still get this for the balance of the system. The docking sold me though. However, I am curious if any filters will be added for this function.
As a Canadian parent who refuses to even let Fortnite in my home for my near 10yo to play: I am sorry for these parents who can`t make the right decisions for the kids let them play Fortnite, GTA or CoD. Yes lets blame everyone else.....
Doesn't look half bad. Might get this at some point since Nintendo seems more content on doing a new Mario Kart on mobile rather for the people who spent 400$CAD on its new console
They should of just released a Switch package with no dock, end of story. I get why they released the Switch Lite in the wake of the end of the 3DS but it seems to me its going to put a lot of confusion this coming holiday season on parents that don't really follow the industry.
