All cons of digital with no pros of physical. Before someone points that you can borrow or resell them, you could do it with digital as well, if only Nintendo was willing implement it.
@mikegamer fanboy much? They didn’t review the game. It’s their visual and performance analysis. I’m currently playing CP2077 on Switch 2 and I can confirm that it definitely dips below 30 fps, especially in the Dogtown area. Ofc this isn’t the whole game and most of the time the performance is solid, but don’t expect smooth sailing everywhere. At the end of the day this is a massive game running on a 10W system. The DF’s analysis is spot on.
CP2077 would be another Switcher moment and I wouldn’t be surprised if CDPR decided to release it on a new system. I’m guessing that MS is working on bringing their games on as many platforms as possible, so CODs and Fallouts are very likely. Anything from FromSoft or Rockstar would be a very welcomed surprise.
@timp29 Doubt it, as MS doesn’t publish or host any of it. They simply allow users to use their consoles as dev kits. It’s up to the user to provide files. Yes, you have those emulators popping on MS store, but MS actively bans them, so Nintendo or Sony have no legal ground here. And even if they allowed to host emulators, they aren’t illegal. MS has adopted this philosophy a while ago (you can do it with XB1 as well), to give users a simple way to sideload whatever they want as long as it’s sandboxed from the XB retail, to discourage jailbreaking community from completely cracking open their systems (as this is the point where they can do real monetary damage), like it happened with Switch, for example.
I got refurbished series S for around €150 and I can’t stress enough how excellent value it is (even for MSRP). I dumped pretty much 70% of my whole game library, dating back to Gameboy, SNES through N64, PS1/2, GC to Wii, to an external drive and use XS as all in one machine to play them. 90% of my X360 games work out of the box and ofc all my X1 library is there too. The amount of functionality per dollar (or euro in my case) I got from that machine is simply unreal.
I turned my Wii U into an emulation centre. Absolutely brilliant performance (Wii, GC games run natively) and you have an option to play without a TV. Since the VC on Switch case is lost, I don’t feel even remotely bad about it. Switch is for everything else.
Let me get this straight. So Epic knowingly broke terms of service on both platforms and now they’re trying to weaponise their customers, because of THEIR business decisions? This literally translates to “Dear customer. Thanks to you, we’ve made A LOT of money on the mobile platforms of your choosing. Now we want to make even more money and in the process, we will hold you hostage. Thank you for your cooperation.”
Don’t blame the scalpers. Blame people who buy it and companies that, by this time, should have known better. Implementing few simple countermeasures would vastly improve the situation, like: splitting pre order stock availability in batches, implementing anti bot systems, introducing one item per customer limits and most importantly, assuring customers that more stock will be available in the near future.
@Giancarlothomaz if I remember correctly, Switch supposed to be a platform for whole family of products, so I’d expect them to add more products to the Switch lineup, rather than start something completely new.
I’m a sucker for those impossible ports (if done well of course). There’s something oddly satisfying seeing all those huge AAA titles, next to Nintendo games on the home screen of a portable device. At the moment, this is as close as we can get to every gamer’s wet dream.
The MP accounts should be linked to Steam, PSN, Nintendo etc account and apart from the play time it should show percentage of completion. If you have never played the game, you can’t review it. Simple. And if you want to review bomb it, at least you’d have to buy or rent a game. Until that time, user reviews shouldn’t be allowed at all.
@TG16_IS_BAE Whatever they did, it works for them. While I understand it’s the cost, performance, battery life balance, and I’m not going to pretend that I know better and would have done better 3-4 years ago, but all I know that today, I’d buy a Switch Pro in a heartbeat. I just hope that nVidia can deliver.
Switch’s cartridge reader costs $6 in retail and takes roughly the same amount of space as an SD card. Not to mention that with time, those cards will be getting cheaper. What would be the point of getting rid it of it? In fact, what I’d love to see is quite the opposite. I’d like Nintendo to have an option to transfer all my digital purchases to carts (for an extra charge of course). And if Nintendo released a dock with extra cart slots, I’d be in heaven.
@gergelyv I played it on dolphin and I was able to push resolution to 1080p with HD textures + 2xMSAA and it looked really good, but still textures as well as lighting didn't look as good as in this video, hence Switch version looks better overall IMO
@NoTinderLife what are you talking about? You have to look at the aligned sales, not totals. Software attachment rate for the Switch is currently 6.35, Wii’s in more or less the same period of time was 6.9, DS 3.6, 3DS 3.5, WiiU 7.7.
@Andy_Witmyer you picked 2018, which is pretty much worse case scenario in last decade or so. Besides US will reach that number in next 2 - 3 months. The flu numbers are for the whole year. So to match that 60k, you have to have one of the worst cases of flu vs best case for the corona, in half of that time and you need to shut whole country down. Yeah, it’s much worse.
In all fairness that’s 11% in 20% of the time, as we’re talking about whole year worth of sales and Switcher was released in mid October. It will be interesting to see first quarter of 2020 sales.
Personally I don’t like the idea of a kickstarter campaign. It wouldn’t take a lot of funding for W101 port, and I wouldn’t be surprised if the sales reached 1M copies. I understand the idea or crowdfunding small, indie studios, but Platinum isn’t one of them. They’d definitely get a solid return on that game.
