@Maxz I dunno, that scene with Marilyn Monroe in a bathtub in Seven Year Itch is a good one too and Bound has lots plumbing scenes where you notice Gina Gershon fixes things without making a big fuss unlike the Mario Bros.

@GoshJosh the Mario movie is fine for what it is but on an animation wizardry level Spider Man is an absolutely gorgeous technical achievement and The Boy & The Heron is such a rich film in narrative and themes so it’s not really surprising Mario didn’t win.

In any case just look at it being given a nomination as an award itself rather than being disappointed it didn’t win.

@FishyS yep, a lot of non-gamers need to get out more too. You have got people now who just stare blankly at their phone for hours looking at garbage, even going to the pub you will see people at a table not talking to each but staring at their phones.

People, the internet is just for finding out information or to give you something to do when having a long poo!

My gym bag has the Tri-force on it and I always seem to get a random come up to me in the gym to start a conversation about Zelda. I once wore a Pokemon shirt at a gig (might have been Jamie T, I was very drunk at the time so I can’t remember exactly) where a girl came up to me to start a conversation about Pokemon as she thought I was wearing it to be trendy so she made me prove I do play Pokemon by naming the pokes on the shirt and I have lots of other examples of meeting gamers in the real world.

That being said I do find the shut in gamer types are insufferably boring to talk with.

Daredevil: Born Again is an incredible comic, just long and miserable in the best possible way. It’s also nice to see Rye Lane get some love, it’s a really good film and so many British films get ignored even by the Brits themselves.

Music for me was falling back in love with The Yeah Yeah Yeahs after seeing them at a festival. Movie wise Godzilla Minus One is like Toho putting a middle finger up at the American Godzilla films to remind them how to make a good Godzilla film. Telly I loved Extraordinary, the soundtrack slaps and the characters are fun and relatable. Books I really enjoyed Final Girls about a bunch of sole survivors from slasher horror type attacks attend a support group together. Comics I finally read the original Tank Girl run, so bloody brilliant.

I don’t agree on the Best Switch Icon 2023 Award, I find it really boring.

@VoodooTrumpet you should try Edinburgh instead of Glasgow, it’s one of the best cities in the UK. Plenty of great restaurants, clubs, beaches, hiking spots, places to visit and deep fried mars bars to eat.

@Woodyshoe it SHOULD be alright, the Joycons are different and better tech than the Wii Remotes so it won’t be like the embarrassment of the Wii Samba De Amigo game.

Thing about this to me is with someone as brilliant as Masahiro Sakurai is why not have someone put under him to learn from and soak in all that know how and possibly take over the franchise, even if they don’t take over the franchise it’s a great way to develop younger talent.
