I love Switch lite. The smaller screen can be a challenge for some games, particularly those with small text, but overall it's just great for the portability. Really glad it was created.
@tobsesta99 If you really liked Mario Golf, particularly gameboy/gba era, that's the crowd Golf Story appeals to.
One aspect Id like to see them improve is course leaderboards for all time best scores. The original Golf on GB included a top 5 leaderboard for each course...Id like to see top ten or so. It really added to the replay factor trying to beat your best scores.
I hope they double up on the amount of main dungeon areas. The shrines were fun but Id like to see more unique dungeons aka OOT. Dont get wrong, BOTW was great.
Loved it. Diablo 3 for $25. Playing the heck out of it right now. Lego Worlds for $7.50. Have about 20 min play time. Seems ok but currently on backlog.
Now to the grand finale...
I went to Target on Thanksgiving evening. The xbox one s with Jedi Fallen Order was accidentally placed in the $150 slot with the xboxes that dont include the new Star Wars game. (Its supposed to be $200 on sale.) Because they put it in the wrong spot, they honored the $150 price.
So there it is, my Mona Lisa* of Black Friday deals: Xbox One S 4k with Jedi Fallen Order for $150.
*well it's at least one of the lesser known Van Goghs.
I have a difficult time getting past the dated graphics of NES/SNES titles. They were fun when they came out, but I mainly paid for the online services so, while new releases might be interesting, if Im being perfectly honest I probably wont be playing anyway.
I made it to the cashier with this game at Walmart on Thanksgiving, mistakenly thinking it was on sale for $20, but I passed on it at the $30 price point. (It was Bestbuy that had it for $20.)
I picked up $25 Diablo 3 and the less popular Lego Worlds for $7.50 (Nintendo store). I have low expectations for Lego Worlds, and I binged on Diablo yesterday.
Not every Smash Bros game has all the Smash Bros characters. But it's cool we have one that does. Im fine with a future Pokemon game trying to get them all in there, I don't need this one to. Then again, when your catch phrase is, "Gotta catch em all"....
Enjoying the game so far...not having every single Pokemon isn't a dealbreaker for me....but it would also be be pretty amazing to see.
The Disgaea series is for those who felt Final Fantasy Tactics wasnt long or deep enough. (Niche group consisting of this one guy who works on a lighthouse)
If its just a direct link...then I dont even see a story here.
And I agree with those who have said that a reduced price for Pokemon only would confuse kids/parents, unless it was made crystal clear up front what was being purchased.
While my enthusiasm for switch has cooled off recently, I have to admit there are some interesting new releases here. Dark souls, Diablo 3, Lego hp, amutant league, and Disgaia 1 all have my eye.
For 15 bucks you can get the steam version and a whole lot more at one of the best package deals in a long time at humble bundle. Check out the unity bundle, you wont be disappointed
Lets talk about the elephant in the room. Octopath is kind of boring. Im into the second chapter with all 8 characters and, Im enjoying myself and Im bored at the same time. Story is of course a huge part of that...if not all of it. I guess thats the thing...you really recognize the lack of good writing when a game has a sprawling campaign length.
I'd also like to see rpgs of this style develop more of a Diablo like loot/equipment system, from the equipment screen where you physically drag and equip your armor to the massive variety of loot drops with sets of equipment that give you bonuses. I realize there are limitations here due to lack of a mouse and other issues...Im just saying Id like to see a creative hybrid combination of the 2 styles of games.
Ultimately, Octopath is a good game with a great graphical style that is marred by the lack of story and not enough other fresh elements for it to achieve legendary status.
Now if you'll excuse me, Im off to level up my characters.
I made it through maybe half of the first game before the lack of variety and the generic story did me in. Tactics are good, but it gets stale after awhile knowing you are playing a game that is broken storywise.
Well that's too bad...sounds like a good premise that is too broken to purchase. I don't understand how something so broken makes it to the release stage.
Ive been wanting to do this for years...the only thing thats stopped me is an utter lack of programming skills and the lack of willpower to follow thru
@Pod I'd say it's more of a low budget civilization style thing...but in a specific time period. The problem is that it feels very phone appy, plus what I mentioned above. The game has potential if the devs gave it just a little more tlc.
What I dont like about world conqueror x is the upgrade system that gives you more powerful items every time you play...rather than a system that resets on every new game...like the civilization series. So basically...upgrade your tech tree once and you're now more powerful at the start of every game. I stopped playing because it felt like a cheap system that took away from the strategy.
I have no interest in hunting...yet I am not a vegetarian. Basically Ill eat someone else's kill. That makes me a bit of a hypocrite.
But now that we've gotten that out of the way...hunting games do nothing for me...at least games where hunting is all there is. Games like Far cry and others are different...because its more than hunting, and in far cry you actually use your kill for something purposeful.
I dont see anything wrong with a hunting simulator...it just isn't my cup of tea. It'd be nice if these simulators focused on hunting for food and not sport hunting. Not sure how this one fares in that regard.
@Preposterous Thank you. I watched the video and thought...ya graphics are dated but acceptable....as long as the game is fun. It sounds like it is fun.
It's a steal for 15 bucks. It can be frustrating...but boss fights are like a dance...there's a pattern to everything. When you figure out an enemys weakness and then exploit it...victory is very satisfying. There's a way to minimize backtracking after defeat...I wont say what it is though it probably isnt really a spoiler. Great game....really enjoying it so far.
As far as being banned...it depends on who banned it. If it was nintendo, good call. Us government....not so sure about that. You have a right to expression even if its idiotic....you'll just pay the price for it in bad pr.
Face painted black with monkey like creatures in the background. Sorry...that's too close to racism for my liking. Of all the billions of insane ways to go for a Pokemon episode, why go here?
