I feel like Forever gets a bad rap. I don't have all their games, but the ones I DO have are pretty great, even the Panzer Dragoon Remake. But I'm not a hardcore gamer, so maybe it's a question of perspective and expectation rather than quality.
I have this and I love it. Coupled with Genki's Covert Dock, it makes a great way to get Switch games on a bigger screen when traveling. Makes playing Fitness Boxing in a hotel room much easier.
I have a few favourites I replay every once in a while, simply because I love those games and/or the worlds those games portray. Those games are the reason I don't subscribe to the "games have to offer lots of different choices/characters/etc to be replayable" argument. If you love a game, just like if you love a book or a movie, it'll be infinitely replayable regardless of whether or not the content changes from run to run.
These Switch Pro rumours don't make any business sense to me. I get that hardcore gamers want one, but the Switch is still selling extremely well, so why would Nintendo release a new version right now? The smart thing to do would be to wait until sales of the current Switch start to plateau/slow down, then release the Pro to stimulate a new round of buying.
I bought a couple Pokemon happy meal toys when they were in McDonald's (Pikachu and Rowlet) and the Detective Pikachu from Burger King. That was before this sort of scalping behaviour became a thing. From now on I'm not going to buy any more if they show up again, because I don't want to be taking some kid's joy away from them.
@Mr-Fuggles777 There was a crash bug in the Playstation version that people reported when the game went live. My guess is that Nintendo found the bug in the Switch version as well and made them delay the release until a fix was available and certified.
I know I'm being naive and it'll never happen, but part of me hopes Nintendo will surprise us all on April 1st with a free update to the collection that adds Mario Galaxy 2 to the pack.
They're still there; you can see a slightly darker circular area beneath his chin. It's hard to spot because of the shadows, but rest assured that Mario still has his nipples.
I think it's important to state that this game has a comprehensive suite of assist modes to adjust the difficulty of puzzles and combat, so those of us who are unable to handle high-difficulty games can adjust it to our skill/capability levels. I'm going to buy this game purely to support a developer who is willing to compromise their vision in order to ensure that everybody gets a chance to enjoy the experience they've made.
This is the same team that made Xenon Racer and Race with Ryan, so temper your expectations a little. It might turn out great, but the team has a poor track record for quality, especially on Switch. and has never done a game like this before (all their previous stuff have been racers).
Man, if this collection contained all the major Tomb Raider games, I'd be hyped. Even more so if they decided to throw in the twin-stick shooters and Lara Croft Go as a bonus.
I have the CF011X to use as an occasional second screen for my Surface, and it's pretty neat. I don't have room for a traditional monitor that's always on the desk, so having the CF011X on a shelf that I can quickly set up when I need it is awesome.
What's the difficulty like? I love Shantae as a concept, but the only one I've ever been able to complete is 1/2 Genie Hero, and that's only because I discovered a way to get lots of gems at the start and max out her stats.
I didn't know this was a roguelite. I thought it was a basic Amnesia clone, but now I'm very intrigued. I may have to check it out when I have a bit of excess cash.
@DevlinMandrake Thanks for talking about Event Horizon. I've been curious about it for a long time, but never picked it up because all the reviews I could find online are on the mixed to negative side. But after reading your thoughts I'm going to get it next time it goes on sale. Have you tried the sequel? Should I pick that up instead of the first?
And I agree with you completely. Policing this sort of thing is impossible, and if Nintendo DID decide to curate more tightly, the Internet pundits would complain that Nintendo wasn't giving deserving indies a fair chance. That's what happened with Steam; they heavily curated their storefront and the pundits said that indies weren't getting a chance at success. So Steam implemented Greenlight and the pundits said that wasn't good enough, so Steam just let anyone who wanted to publish do so, and now the pundits complain that Steam is too open and needs curation. There's no winning with this, so remaining open and risking the occasional asset flip getting through is worth it in my opinion. We have to take the bad with the good.
I'm interested in this game, but the review doesn't really dive in-depth into the information I'm interested in. The eShop listing says rally races have procedurally generated tracks; what are those like? Also, is there the ability just to do point-to-point rallies in Free Race mode? Are those procedurally generated? Some more details about the gameplay modes would be appreciated.
I loved the look of Racing Apex, but the gunplay/weapons turned me off. Now that they've removed that aspect, I'll seriously consider picking this one up!
I love games like this. I bought the janky Truck Simulator USA a while back and enjoy it immensely, even though it's a poorly made game that I wouldn't recommend to anyone except people like me who are so desperate for a truck driving game that they're willing to forgive weird bugs, poor graphics, and tons of jank. I'll keep an eye out for this, but after Xenon Racer, I'll wait for reviews and a price drop before buying it.
@Kalmaro If you can't decide between Doom Eternal's Switch port and Animal Crossing, then AC is the way to go since the DE Switch port got delayed (https://www.destructoid.com/bethesda-re-confirms-that-doom-eternal-is-coming-later-on-switch-but-the-delay-won-t-be-massive-578620.phtml).
It would be really cool if Nintendo hired these guys to make an official demake of Three Houses. I loved the GBA Fire Emblem games, but the 3D iterations just don't have the same charm for me.
I find the default difficulty perfect. I can understand hardcore RPG players finding it too easy, but there are tons of hard turn-based RPGs (and hard games in general) out there that they can play. Let us hard-casual players have this one to ourselves.
It's like how hardcore gamers say that it's okay for Sekiro to not have an easy mode because it's not for us casual gamers. By that same token, it's okay for Pokemon to be easy, because it's not for you hardcore types.
I enjoy this game, but it can get pretty tough for me, especially the night stages. I hope one day they include a free drive mode where you can putter along any of the tracks without AI opponents and lap limits, so I can experience the beautiful environments without hassle.
This will be a weird comment, but labelling this as "News" doesn't really fit. Maybe you guys should consider labelling stuff like this "Insights" since they are interesting and give insight into the development process and such, but aren't really news.
@ZombieGavinS If you owned one of the publisher's previous games, the discount is increased to 66%.
I picked it up since it was so cheap, and I have to say it's quite entertaining for the price. It's a tad simplistic, progression is slow, and I wish there were more arenas to stunt around in, but it's a pretty chill experience good for killing a few minutes here and there.
I was interested in Gods and Monsters, but had decided to skip it because of Ubi's microtransaction shenanigans . I'd forgiven all the MTX for Assassin's Creed Odyssey, but they've gotten more and more aggressive in games released since then. Hopefully this delay means Gods and Monsters will remove all that stuff and give us a complete game where we can get everything cosmetic without having to either pony up extra cash or grind out currency for hundreds of hours.
I for one am super excited for this to get released, and am super happy that Nintendo is investing in products like this. I have my fingers crossed we'll eventually see Switch versions of Style Savvy and Endless Ocean in the future.
At first I wasn't interested because of the running portion, because I don't really want to be thumping about in my room, but then they showed silent mode and I'm sold! I'm currently using Fitness Boxing as my daily exercise and loving it, but this might be a great alternative, especially since it targets a lot of different muscle groups.
I put 80 hours into this on PC. It's a really good action/adventure. Sadly, it seems people were expecting it to be a spiritual successor to Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines, which it definitely is not, and so it got received poorly. I won't double dip right away since I want Luigi's Mansion, but I'll definitely grab the Switch version later on, provided the port is good, of course.
From what I've read about the Witcher 3 port, it seems like it's going to be a good one. Makes me wonder if they could potentially bring Cyberpunk 2077 over as well. That would be amazing if they could!
I think this might be for a physical release. The game's been available on the eShop for a long time now. I actually bought it not too long ago at half off. It's a fun, chill fishing experience.
@Aneira I think having a review of a game like this would be valuable/useful to someone who likes the property the game is based on and is thinking about picking up the game.
I bought it digitally before release, before word of the state of the game got around. I'm waiting for the 1.04 patch before digging deeper into it. I hope they sort it all out because, despite the horrendous pop-in, the game is a ton of fun.
I bought this on PC because of the theme and love it. I can see why it's not everybody's cup of tea, but it was fun for me. Even better, the devs actually listened to feedback and implemented "Divine Blessings" for those of us who had a hard time with the default balance of the game. There are also Divine Burdens for those who want a harder experience. It's very rare for devs to be so responsive these days, so I'll probably pick this up on Switch as well, just to support them.
@Charlie_Girl Thanks. I wish more people shared that opinion. Every time I bring up the idea of adding accessibility options to a game, I get bombarded by people like @RasandeRose who feel I should be excluded from the hobby because I'm not capable of playing these games without the inclusion of easier modes.
I hope they remove the 1-star limit for making the game easier. Sucks that those of us with cognitive issues are punished for playing on easier difficulties.
Was there a mobile version of Gear.Club 2? I enjoyed (and still play) the first game on Switch, but the tracks felt a little short since they were designed for mobile gaming first. I'm hoping that if Gear.Club 2 is designed for consoles first, the tracks will be a bit lengthier.
Town seems interesting. From the description they gave, I'm thinking Game Freak is going to use the game to experiment with the Pokemon move system without having to take the risk of changing up a core Pokemon game. Hope the main character is customisable, though.
Other than that, Civ 6 might be a purchase for me, but only if the Strategic View is still in (they removed it from the mobile port), and being able to play FF9 and 12 also intrigues me. Oh, and Capcom Beatemup Bundle! I love me some classic beatemups!
Is this a first-person dungeon crawler along the lines of Etrian Odyssey? The screen shots accompanying the review are really poorly chosen, because they don't show what the game looks like during gameplay. And even the written text doesn't do much to clear things up.
I would love to have this game on Switch. I loved the Mad Max game Avalanche did for Warner Bros Interactive was and this seems like it'll take everything from that game and expand it. Fingers crossed they manage to get it on here. Otherwise, I'll just wish for a Mad Max port instead.
