Am I the only one notices the crazy motion blur?

While I'm generally interested in racing games, rally in particular, I wonder how much sense such a game makes on a system lacking analogue triggers for the minute throttle and braking controls needed, especially in rally games, where you're constantly "on the edge" of traction.

Another mobile port? Gear Club isn't terrible but, still.

@Bunkerneath Poor Vroom in the Night Sky, it's always the go to title when talking about bad games. Thing is, there are many far worse games released since that came out. Especially over the last 18 months.

@sixrings It really, really isn't.

@Scollurio while it is frustrating not having analogue buttons, it just makes these games a bit more challenging. You could just tap the acceleration button when needed instead.
I managed to fully 100% every car and challenge on Need for Speed Most Wanted on my WiiU with out analogue buttons.

@Dizzy_Boy One of the sticks would make a fine analog throttle.

@Dizzy_Boy I know about that, did it all through the 90's! Also once you're reaching sim-territory, this is not cutting it. Depends on how serious/realistic this game takes itself.

Hey all,

I'll try and clear a few things up for you to help you all out.

I've written tech for other companies and worked on games such as F1/Dirt/MotoGP and event F1 motions simulators for an F1 team. My aim has always been to make this one of the best rally sims available for handheld devices. If you do a little research you'll already find that this game has been praised for its controls across the globe, as have some of my other games for other companies!

Controls are FULLY remappable, so you can setup an analogue stick accelerator if you like.

This game is not easy, it is a full sim, you will need to brake for corners, this is not an arcade thrash racer. Every track has a leaderboard and your best ghost is uploaded to the leaderboards, you can race against against any other persons ghost to try and beat them.

I've spent 9 years to date on this title, it has always been about how the game plays, so if it doesn't play well for you, I will want to know why!!

[Oh and it already has put some AAA devs to shame on other platforms ]

The big question is this going to be a $10 game like it is on Mobile or are we going to be Switch taxed.

Great to hear. Rush Rally 2 was one of my favourite games back when I gamed on my phone. I'm very excited to get this on Switch.

@sixrings that is a big question! Switch users will have access to Live Events with out paying for an IAP, in fact I have "planned" some more content which will likely be free on Switch when ready, but IAP on mobile. I can also tell you that it will be much less than half the price of v-rally 4 too.

@Brownmonster will it have local wireless play?

I've played this game to death on mobile and it is a great game. Can't wait to play it on the Switch.
This game deserves to do well, I hope people research the game property before dismissing it.

@sixrings Yup. One issue though (and this goes for all Switch games) is that you both still have to have an internet connection, even when playing on a LAN. This is a Nintendo requirement to pass. It is also cross-platform so you can play against other devices.

@Brownmonster you mean you need each system to have a NSO account? That doesn't make any sense. I can play splatoon or Mario Kart wireless play or lan without multiple NSO accounts. In fact I can disconnect the internet altogether and still play multiplayer.

@sixrings All I know is that I needed to get official Nintendo approval for wireless LAN play. It is probably because I allow communication with other devices other than Switch, which is why I had to conform to this requirement. I can probably patch it at a later date to allow LAN play with Switch to Switch without the internet, I'll send them an email anyway and ask!

@Brownmonster One of the few mobile games I've ever loved, and a day one purchase on Switch. So happy you're bringing it over I wish you much success.

@sixrings OK so the reply is that Switch to Switch LAN comunication is actually OK without internet, but I would have to do some trickery to support this method! Basically supporting other platforms is a security risk so I have to verify the users over the internet to pass their requirements. I'll put it on my todo list anyway if it is important to you!

@Brownmonster I love Rally sims, and this one is looking rather fantastic, and I always appreciate when the developer takes an active role in the comments, so sign me up, I shall be purchasing this on release day.

@Precinct1313 Thanks, if anyone wants to do a little research they will find that I am very active in the Rush Rally 3 gamer community, and all comments are usually taken on board. In fact the Live events system was designed by about 10 of the hard core players!!

I am mostly interested in price really.
Though I really want a decent rally game on the NX.

@KitsuneNight The higher the price the better the game ! Seriously though, it will be reasonably priced given the work that has gone in to it. It certainly plays better than the other Rally games I've played on Switch so far, but then I'm biased

I haven't played any on the NX yet. ( Waiting for WRC 8 and a bit weary of V rally 4 ) but I've been playing, ( and swearing at ) most Colin McCrae rally games from the original up to Dirt Rally 2.

This game wil most likely be a day one purchase for me .

@KitsuneNight Thanks, WRC 8 is made by the same people as V-Rally 4, I hope they haven't just given v-rally 4 a re skin! TBH not too worried about the competition as I haven't seen any live footage of WRC 8 yet and it is super expensive.

@datamonkey product of 9 years work! this last one was about 2-3 years though! I have written all the tech and engine myself too for all platforms!

@Brownmonster do the graphics look better on here than on iPad pro?

@sixrings Well that is a question, the Switch is quite old tech compared to the iPad Pro so I'm not sure you can compare them! However FYI I've set it up so you can configure tv mode and handheld mode with different graphics options. tv mode supports 1080p @ 60hz with pretty much everything maxed out just like the iPad pro (including anti-aliasing), handheld is 720p @ 60hz with a few options lowered. Of course if you want handheld to be less graphics to save battery that is an option too!

I have this in my smartphone and I love it, great desing, great details and great challenge.
And now this game come to Switch!!, Wonderful ^.^

Rather have one of the SEGA Rallys on the Switch

Always been a big rally fan since Sega Rally Championship on the Saturn!! Always love the beautiful scenery rally games display!! I’m Looking forward to this one!! Playing the hell outta Dirt 4 on PS4 still and Dirt Rally 2.0 is next in line!

Bet this will be a blast with the new racing wheel that's coming out.

@Brownmonster I would be interested to hear if you have played V-Rally (or other racing games) on the Switch, and what are your thoughts on them.
It used to be the case that there were no serious racing games on this platform; now there's dozens but they all seem frustrating and half-baked. How would you say that Rush Rally compares and contrasts?

I would agree that the others racing games seem half-baked (with the exception of Grid, which is good , however for me I've never enjoyed the feel of the cars in Grid, it looks nicer than it plays!).

I spent a lot of time making Rush Rally feel and play how I would expect a racer to play, 99% of people seem to love it on the other platforms, but there are a few who just don't get it and constantly say "Colin McRae is better etc etc", I used to love Colin McRae but since playing it again recently, it really has not aged well, and the handling is awful!

I have also spent a lot of time trying to replicate the feel of speed, this game draws ALOT of trees, and with trees come nice shadows on the road. Rallying is all about having lots of close stuff fly past, because of this, I'd say my environments are not as "polished" as the likes of Grid, but then they don't have to draw 1000's trees at a time! One thing with VRally that winds me up is the look of the shadow on the road, you can see where it is drawing all time!

This will be an early purchase for me, I could care less whether its origins are mobile or not, whether the accelerator is digital or analog. If a person puts enough restrictions on any game [for their own comfort], they'll be playing nothing at all. lol.
When it comes to graphics I truly believe that far too many people merely Parrot the words they hear... "Oh such and such game isn't running at xFps" or 'the textures look muddy' and so forth, just to attempt to impress another person. In reality, many of these aspects are almost impossible to really notice unless you're looking for them. I still [play the older Wipeout, PSP's which weren't graphic intensive and love them. Graphics mean almost nothing to me, handling on the other hand, means a lot. People are still b1tching about 4 k graphics when the human eye can't even see in 4k. I mean Pft.
