@DontPlayDumb Huh? This has nothing to do with piracy.
This software is most likely being removed from the eShop because either (a) the licensing agreement with the publisher in Europe has ended or (b) they are getting ready to replace the old version with the new one and don't want DSiWare competing for sales, confusing customers, or splitting the user base.
Not sure if your username a hint that you are teasing/trolling, or if you missed that point in the original story.
This application is fantastic for anyone serious about learning to code, but you have to be dedicated to learning (putting in both the time and effort) if you want to get anything out of it.
Hard to recommend the DSiWare version when an improved 3DS release is on the way before too long - unless you just want to download games that are already to scan and start playing.
(Too bad NoA apparently doesn't like soundtracks - so far they've only offered Majora's Mask as an end of year reward and the Super Smash Bros for Wii if you bought both versions. I think soundtracks are one the coolest Club Nintendo prizes that have been offered.)
@Shane904 Go to the link in the article (http://www.photonstorm.com/art/tutorials-art/16x16-pixel-art-tutorial) and scroll to the bottom of the page. You'll see a nearly identical cat to what is used in the game.
It's blatant and obvious infringement. Honestly, I expected problems from Meme Runner before this.
@Deanster101 Hearthstone is just a different game.
It isn't free if you are playing online Arena matches (at least that is my understanding), it uses a more traditional "freemium" model where microtransactions are encouraged, it offers a more traditional type of CCG gameplay. Most importantly, Hearthstone isn't available on Wii U.
(Note that you could also just play Lucadian Chronicles for free if you want on Wii U. Both are good games, obviously one is bigger than the other.)
@Captain_Gonru Well, I call online modes the "meat" because I think it's more fun to compete against other people... but he probably just really enjoyed the puzzle-like structure of the campaign mode. And there's nothing wrong with that. I guess just the fact that there are different things you can choose to focus on is pretty interesting with a game like this.
One thing that I'm not sure gets across: there is no "card playing" in this game. You construct a 5 (sometimes 6) card deck, where positioning of cards and special power interactions matter, and then put that into an automated battle against your opponents selected cards.
Finding useful combinations and trying to predict what your opponents might throw against you is really neat, but the game is low-key enough that you can easily play while watching TV or doing something else. (I find that really relaxing and convenient.)
Tough to give this game a fair rating - it won't appeal to everyone, but is undeniably a game worth trying (especially since you can try playing before deciding if you want to spend $8 to unlock the full game).
Lucadian Chronicles is a strategy game where you set up your forces and send them into battle, then see who made better choices. It isn't highly interactive, but the strategy is deep enough that it's very interesting.
The campaign mode is essentially a puzzle; you try to figure out card combinations that will let you get past pre-determined enemy configurations, learning what kind of tactics do/don't work in the process. Every level you beat will give you gold rewards, and between battles you can spend accumulated gold to receive random "booster packs" that add three new cards to your available set.
The meat of the game is in the online multiplayer modes though - you can try daily challenges to earn more gold, compete in a ladder-style tournament, or battle against others in a draft mode. (Free play lets you try each once per day.) What makes this challenging is that you don't know what cards your opponents will throw at you, so making the best of your options really matters!
Honestly, I didn't expect much from the game... but having played the free version for a week I'm convinced it's worth owning.
I'd be interested in Amiibo figures if they were available at retail. They aren't, so I'm not.
On the upside, I've moved past being "rather pissed at how the whole stock and preorder debacle has been handled" into a blissful "just don't care"... so that's an improvement regarding my overall feelings on Amiibo.

@ArcAngel432
Grabbed the second code. You are my Monster Hunting Hero! Thanks so much for sharing.
Edit: Ahhhhgggghhh! After typing in the code, it went through but then I didn't hit download button quickly enough. Apparently someone else was doing it at the same time, and they got the code instead while I was writing a thank you note. Hahahaha.
@mralloverit edit shoot. number four, when there were only three codes to give away. oh well, I'll remove my email address and congratulate the people who beat me to the punch. (Also, thanks very much to @mralloverit for sharing!)
@PhoTonixL Haha... No kidding. I'd LOVE a code and have been refreshing and entering as fast as possible... but no dice yet. Beat to the punch every time.
But thanks to all who are sharing codes - pretty awesome of you!
I never would have tried this game if not for the free demo - and that would have been my loss, it's a great little game and playing has convinced me it's worth buying. Well done to the developers for putting this together!
The listed prices don't match what I see in Canada. Guacamelee is cheaper for me, Chasing Aurora more expensive, and I think SteamWorld Dig is different too... but the deals are very good for some awesome games.
Ended up buying 3 titles because of this sale, although I didn't really plan on buying anything when checking the eShop...
***Edit:***
Weird! The eShop prices have changed since I bought things. After taxes I paid $4.41 for Guacamelee but now the game is showing as (before taxes) $5.99 in the eShop. Canadian pricing, as of the time I write this, is provided below:
Wow, just played the demo version. This is a really solid game - anyone who enjoys collectible card games in real life should definitely play, and Wii U owners who want a fun little strategy game should too!
The free version is basically a demo - if the game sounds at all interesting, download it and start playing.
Hype. People are talking about Nintendo products they want, but are selling too quickly. If people weren't talking about that... what would the conversation around Nintendo be?
That said, I agree with you: Nintendo is losing a lot of points in my book too.
I'd rather have the steelbook case and pin, but suspect I'll be in the minority.
Looks nice, but until we actually find out about availability I'm not giving NoA any props. That Villager Amiibo looked nice too, and the Hyrule scarf, and the Gannondorf statue, and the Kid Icarus cards... All were "available" in North America but I've never seen any in person outside of the single pack of KI cards offered through Club Nintendo.
@Ryno What Nintendo is supposed to do (in my opinion): provide enough stock that people who want figures within 3 months of release can actually buy them without resorting to paying scalpers, and communicate openly with people about whether figures will be reprinted.
I'm not saying make an infinite amount. I'm not suggesting ongoing support for extended periods of time. But the only notable discussion around Amiibo so far has been how Nintendo did a lousy job providing enough stock to meet demand or to communicate accurately with their customers.
No outrage on my part though. If Amiibo figures aren't available, it's a minor disappointment... but life goes on. Do I really need a silly plastic figure anyway? Nope.
@NoEasyBuckets That's fair - and I should have clarified that 2014 was a down year for me personally, there were a bunch of good games but they just didn't appeal to me.
In the same way, I'd fully understand how a couple of ported games and a new Monster Hunter game would do nothing for some people, even though they have me totally excited.
I felt like 2014 came and went on 3DS without much noise - there were some good games, but nothing that really grabbed me.
But the story has changed for 2015: this year, there are a whole bunch of games that I'm eagerly awaiting. Xenoblade and Majora's Mask are remakes of games that I love. A new Monster Hunter release is hugely exciting. On top of that, there are a bunch of awesome eShop releases and (presumably) some unannounced third party games that will also be fun to play.
Good review. Love the Zombie/Marian Dice recommendations - both fun press-your-luck games that people would likely enjoy. Not sure this is a game I'll pick up, but pricing is appropriate so not a bad release for some people.
It's a free market. The game has every right to exist, just like how people who care about quality gaming have every right to ignore it or deride it.
Although I don't enjoy seeing trash on the eShop, and I do think this game qualifies as trash, it's never misrepresents itself and I don't have a problem with is being released.
I'm a collector. I've got a ton of Nintendo stuff spanning many generations of gaming. This holiday season has been disappointing because (whether intentional or not) the limited availability of many items means I simply can't get them without massive overpayment on the second-hand market.
Being unable to get these peripherals does nothing to help Nintendo, nothing to help me, and has basically killed my interested in Smash Bros entirely. I am the proverbial whale, but am now swimming in the wrong directly.
The Final Fantasy Theatrhythm games impressed me far more than I thought they would. Usually rhythm games aren't my thing, but Theatrhythm was just really well done.
Yet this announcement leaves me a bit torn: despite preferring Dragon Quest as a series, the music is less impressive overall. I'd probably still buy though.
Wanted the Villager one, but not for inflated prices currently being asked on the secondary market.
Even worse, bought the Wii Fit trainer as a reactive purchase after being unable to find Villager. Frankly, I don't even want it. Maybe I'll be able to use it for a trade?
If he suffered the way he claims while doing the Donkey Kong event, which I think is entirely possible, would that even cause the condition described? Aortic tearing would have forced him to be carted off via ambulance based on what I've read - it manifests suddenly, extremely painfully, and doesn't seem to be normally caused by overheating or overworking the way he describes.
That doesn't mean the working conditions should be excused - sounds like he got hosed on that job - but I can't help but wonder if the connection he's claiming between working condition and heath condition is being overstated.
Meh, it's just a baseless rumor so far. Doesn't seem worth the effort of spreading IMO.
The game might end up being cancelled (or might even be cancelled already) and that wouldn't be a surprise given how quiet development has been; but many Nintendo-developed titles go totally quiet until release. It's also possible that the game will be announced as ready for release with virtually no buildup.
I don't give this "rumor" any credit without specific sources or an official statement to prove that is true... sounds more like a baseless guess to me.
Here's hoping this makes it easier to track down a real GBA copy once the digital release comes out. This is a fantastic little game, and well worth playing on any system.
@Sampras You consistently talk about 2 frames per second difference... but that's simply not accurate according to any of the tests I've seen. The Wii U framerate fluctuates between 20-25 frames per second, sometimes falling under 20, while on PS4 it's a steady 30 and even on PS3 it remains consistently higher.
It's great you enjoy the game. But it's the worst performing version of a game that received middling reviews. It's being released months after all other versions, is currently more expensive, and will never receive the best rated DLC. Those are facts - not opinions.
Exactly: look at all the reviews and see what they are saying!
So I did that, and these are the common factors brought up in many reviews: framerate worse than other versions, weak use of gamepad, missing the most important DLC.
Wii U version is consistently reviewing as (technically) the worst version of the game.
Wii U version is by far the most expensive right now, since all other versions have been out for months.
Original reviews for Watch Dogs on other platforms averaged about 8 - good but not great - so now Wii U owners have the opportunity to pay double (or more) to get a lesser version of that not great game. Hmmm...
The game will still be worth playing for many people, but the apologists here need to back down a little bit. Poor port got a poor score, end of story.
@MikeDanger Now that's a great suggestion. Lego City Undercover has some issues of it's own, but sounds like a choice game than Watch Dogs. My "buy" list has been updated accordingly.
People can complain about the rating, but I'm seeing the same problems listed repeatedly from many different sources: very poor framerate, graphical issues, and a game that overall just isn't compelling enough to be considered top tier.
When you factor in that the Wii U release is happening months later than any other platform, performs worse than any other console, is considerably more expensive right now, and is missing the generally well-regarded DLC content... well, a 6/10 seems very reasonable.
I was hoping Watch Dogs on Wii U would be worth buying. Nothing I've seen or read online has convinced me that is the case - at least not without a very steep discount. Incredibly disappointing.
Wasn't that interested until I heard that PC drivers were coming. Functionality wouldn't be be so limited if that happens. Now I'm hoping they make more!
Right now, at this exact moment, Wii U still offers (for me) the best library of games of any current gen console - in part thanks to backwards compatibility with older Wii titles. But Wii U has hit it's high-water mark and is already clearly in decline.
C sounds about right to me, even though I love the system and look forward to playing many more games on it.
So yeah, I grabbed Kirby's Pinball Land from Club Nintendo. Gotta say, the NL review score is incredibly harsh.
Not everyone will appreciate old-school video pinball, but if you think you might (or have fond memories of games like Revenge of the Gator) then it's a pretty awesome freebie.
Kirby's Pinball Land isn't a fantastic design and certainly doesn't compare well to more technically adept games that we have seen released in the last 5 years or so. However, it was a decent video pinball game at release and remains an entertaining diversion.
Initially I wondered if it had aged poorly... but after playing it again in person the game is as fun as I remember (although maybe a bit more simplistic). Anyone who enjoyed Revenge of the Gator or other old-school video pinball games shouldn't hesitate to pick this up now.
I disagree with the review personally, and find it interesting that NintendoLife has by far the worst review I could find online.
Response seems pretty negative so far, and I agree that pricing at $8 feels high (especially when the app only works if other people buy-in too - price the app too high and you never get enough user base to make it worth using).
But this does fill a gap in the 3DS lineup. Nintendo has shown no interest in allowing communication of any type after shutting down SwapNote, which is a feature I sorely miss.
I'm curious to see how the quality is, and whether it includes the ability to send messages to offline friends or only when people are online at the same time.
For what it's worth, this probably isn't Loot Crate's fault - at least not entirely. The pricing is flat out bad, but Nintendo may have had a strong hand in that number.
Oh well. Bad deal is bad. Good deals still exist. Life goes on.
So basically MSRP for everything (including "bonus" items) in the package, limited to US buyers only, with no option for free shipping or ability to customize your order.
Hmm... Buying direct from online sources provides better value/selection, while various retailers are offering discounts or "buy 2 get 1 free" sales over the next couple of weeks. Unless the cinch bag and t-shirt are going to be really awesome, the Loot Crate asking price seems really hard to justify.
I'm not anti-loot crate, but this just seems like a bad deal. Hope people think it over before making a $150+ impulse buy.
Using all of the in-game graphics/artwork seems like enough to make this move legit by Konami... but it's still a very disappointing announcement. This book sounded all kinds of awesome. Too bad Konami couldn't just work out a reasonable licensing deal instead of shutting the project down.
So will Toon Link also use a pee colored support stick in the final model?
(Sorry Nintendo, but the differences between the first round of preview/production Amiibo models has me skeptical until we see a final model. The fact that so many of these figures still use support sticks is kind of worrying to me - it's like they didn't learn any lessons from issues the first time.)

It's great you enjoy the game. But it's the worst performing version of a game that received middling reviews. It's being released months after all other versions, is currently more expensive, and will never receive the best rated DLC. Those are facts - not opinions.
Re: Review: Watch Dogs (Wii U)
Re: Review: Watch Dogs (Wii U)
@MikeDanger
Now that's a great suggestion. Lego City Undercover has some issues of it's own, but sounds like a choice game than Watch Dogs. My "buy" list has been updated accordingly.
Re: Review: Watch Dogs (Wii U)
Re: Nintendo Might Not Be Making More GameCube Controller Adapters at the Moment
Wasn't that interested until I heard that PC drivers were coming. Functionality wouldn't be be so limited if that happens. Now I'm hoping they make more!
Re: Feature: The Wii U is Two Years Old, But How's it Doing?
Ratings are hard.
Re: The November Club Nintendo Rewards Are Now Up For Grabs
So yeah, I grabbed Kirby's Pinball Land from Club Nintendo. Gotta say, the NL review score is incredibly harsh.
Not everyone will appreciate old-school video pinball, but if you think you might (or have fond memories of games like Revenge of the Gator) then it's a pretty awesome freebie.
Re: Review: Kirby's Pinball Land (3DS eShop / Game Boy)
Harsh review.
Re: Teyon Games Adds Text and Voice Chat to 3DS eShop Mix With Chat-A-Lot
Response seems pretty negative so far, and I agree that pricing at $8 feels high (especially when the app only works if other people buy-in too - price the app too high and you never get enough user base to make it worth using).
But this does fill a gap in the 3DS lineup. Nintendo has shown no interest in allowing communication of any type after shutting down SwapNote, which is a feature I sorely miss.
I'm curious to see how the quality is, and whether it includes the ability to send messages to offline friends or only when people are online at the same time.
Re: Loot Crate amiibo Details and Pricing are Confirmed
For what it's worth, this probably isn't Loot Crate's fault - at least not entirely. The pricing is flat out bad, but Nintendo may have had a strong hand in that number.
Oh well. Bad deal is bad. Good deals still exist. Life goes on.
Re: Loot Crate amiibo Details and Pricing are Confirmed
So basically MSRP for everything (including "bonus" items) in the package, limited to US buyers only, with no option for free shipping or ability to customize your order.
Hmm... Buying direct from online sources provides better value/selection, while various retailers are offering discounts or "buy 2 get 1 free" sales over the next couple of weeks. Unless the cinch bag and t-shirt are going to be really awesome, the Loot Crate asking price seems really hard to justify.
I'm not anti-loot crate, but this just seems like a bad deal. Hope people think it over before making a $150+ impulse buy.
Re: Konami Demands That Hardcore Gaming 101 Presents: Castlevania Book Be Removed From Sale
Using all of the in-game graphics/artwork seems like enough to make this move legit by Konami... but it's still a very disappointing announcement. This book sounded all kinds of awesome. Too bad Konami couldn't just work out a reasonable licensing deal instead of shutting the project down.
Re: Nintendo Reveals 11 amiibo Super Smash Bros. Figures Hitting in Early 2015
Re: Review: Pixel Paint (Wii U eShop)
Not sure about the software - isn't it kind of pointless until there are decent export options? - but the trailer was AWESOME.
@vonseux No kidding. Miiverse is looking pretty good for this game - lots of great art being posted.
