Re: Nintendo Doesn't Plan To Censor Video Games Like Sony

darkfenrir

@TempOr I'm not sure about in the original game, but it doesn't seem there's aim for censorship anyway.

@DrLockdown yeah, the worst thing is that this can easily be solved by hiring a J-E translator! It's weird that the top brass of news site don't really have a translator enrolled, at least the likes of IGN at minimum, it's not like they need translator in a lot of amount too.

Re: Trials Of Mana Coming To Nintendo Switch, Collection Of Mana Out Now

@RupeeClock Here's a quote from the thread:

"And we know there was effort put into the code - character names can be more than six letters long now.

From what Neill Corlett said back in the day, trying to do that on his end would've done insane violence to the ROM. That's why Hawkeye & Charlotte were renamed in the fanTL."

So it seems they do remake the code at least in part- and this is a proof of it. So it must not be emulation is what I gather from here.

(And yeah, fan translation is pretty crazy, people that do it for fun without any sort of payments are amazing)

Re: Talking Point: Why Nintendo Is Right To Be Cautious With Mobile

darkfenrir

@Yorumi And I've played since the beginning... Like yeah, it's a bit oppressive at start? Not too bad, but it is rough. Once they started to implement feedbacks are when they started to really throw things though. Like ensuring first 10-pull get 5 stars now. (And for oldies, they get 5 star ticket)

Nonetheless by now they are massively so generous it's crazy, like during New Year log in I think we got 3 tenfold voucher and 2000 wyrmite for 7 days log in. There's also a lot of Quality of Life updates with making rooms (able to put conditions), crafting now can let you just skip straight to the next weapon tree if you have enough materials, etc.

Re: Talking Point: Why Nintendo Is Right To Be Cautious With Mobile

darkfenrir

@Yorumi Alright, for Fire Emblem Heroes I can give you that- they recently has gone power-creep mode, and starting to give less so we can say they are definitely less generous, and you definitely need tons more luck.

But Dragalia? That game singlehandedly is one of the most generous game out there, with players being given tenfold, summons by heaps. Not to count that Wyrmprint is now out of the summons, etc

I'm completely F2P at Dragalia and even now I already have 2-3 5* PER element, and still has 300+ summons saved up thanks to the fact they also lowered the amount of Wyrmite you need to summon (150 -> 120)

Maybe you can define what you meant on the "friendly to free players"?

Re: Reminder: Nintendo's Mobile RPG Dragalia Lost Is Now Available, In Some Countries At Least

darkfenrir

@rjejr Aah, gotcha then. That make sense, I also find that this one's English VA is definitely not the worse I hear (heck, I think even XC2 while I can bear it, is still worse than this one).

@Yasaal I'm also not at US/any of those select countries, and if you are using Android, just using APK is pretty simple matter since there's a lot of places that offer it (Although I understand reasoning of not wanting to go over the hoop to use apk). This happens a lot anyway, iirc games like PuzzlexDragons or like Terra Battle never came out of US for english version...

Nintendo is definitely one of the worst though, the other being Gungho and Square Enix (only for gacha/f2p games, their premium stuff is released everywhere for SE) off the top of my head. But in the end I figure that if I really want to play them I'll just use apk since it's easy lol

Re: Azure Reflections - Bullet Heaven Or Hell?

darkfenrir

@Heavyarms55 Ah, understandable. I haven't searched much of Touhou fangames admittedly, so I can't share much except those two since I played one, and Luna Nights got 99% positive out of 600+ review on Steam.

I'll hope more of the Touhou good fangames will be ported to Switch since most of them are on Steam orz

Re: Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Videos Show How Different Pokémon Types Will Follow The Trainer

darkfenrir

@DarkScythe13 I mean, maybe they'll still have those Vs. Seeker... And now you have unlimited Pokeballs by training against people, and then get the money but who knows, did Vs. Seeker ever come back after their introduction in FR/LG?

@MysticMask I think you do but I'm not sure, and when you catch Pokemon you also get EXP yes (Although getting EXP from catching isn't limited to this one). Nonetheless, the Pokemon you caught then you can throw away to the Professor to be certain type of Candy for stat-boosting (idk if this is for EV training or IV or what though)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

darkfenrir

@UnknownReader Let me check... https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/191386-tokyo-xanadu-ex/76101071

Here, this link shows the differences. So far I find it's really excellent game- except a lot of niggling annoyances on the story, as well as the fact that they reuse A LOT of the music (Some remixes will go a looooong way for that >.<) Often I felt like the music didn't feel fitting on that part of the game, and the changes are often too jarring.

And that's awesome, rip for that respawning though. I think I'll wait for Dead Cells / Hollow Knight for now (then buy West of Loathing xD)

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend?

darkfenrir

Playing Tokyo Xanadu Ex+ on my PC, almost finishing it so I hope I can finish it before next week comes. (Then I can play Cultist Simulator! So excited to play that game, plays really cool too)

@UnknownReader It's ok, play it however you want xD

And have fun at Smoke and Sacrifice, that one looks cool

Re: Feature: Vote For Your 2017 Nintendo Life Game of the Year

darkfenrir

Xenoblade Chronicles 2, an easy vote. It leads me to sink my teeth deeper and deeper into the story, while every step of the way I end up exploring, and having fun in the world!

Like, even though I want to go forward in the story? I find doing the side quest itself is already fun. I love to take care of side quest first, main story second. Do more exploration, everything!

This game is really my GOTY for Nintendo Switch (NieR still defeats it otherwise though, music and story, NieR had me hooked even faster and I love that game's side quest as well)
