E3 2018 has had plenty of big reveals over the past couple of days, but few made as many headlines as the one surrounding toys-to-life adventure Starlink: Battle for Atlas and its crossover with Star Fox.
The Switch-exclusive content - which includes Fox McCloud as a playable character and a real-life Arwing toy - has helped put the modular toy/space exploration mashup on the map, and the good folks over at GameSpot have bagged a whole 15 minutes of footage showing the Star Fox content in action. Check it out below!
As always, be sure to keep Nintendo Life bookmarked for all the latest Nintendo updates direct from E3 2018. And let us know what you make of Star Fox in Starlink...

Um...that's not Fox though. Why would they show the arwing and not put Fox in it??
Battle is kind of awkward. It looks like the spaceship is just standing and strafe left or right.... Its like an FPS mechanism but instead of a hand, they put a spaceship.
i'll wait the first reviews...
Its a shame it’s not a new Starfox with a pack-in Arwing amiibo instead. The idea of taking off and exploring the Lylat system instead of the same old linear levels would have been incredible, doubly so if it had 4-player online/link co-op with the whole squadron.
I'm guessing they didn't put Fox in the game yet due to his lines not being recorded. They've stated you can play the entire game as Fox, so hopefully he has fully voiced scenes like the other pilots. The gameplay looks great, too. Open space and planets to travel seamlessly and explore within and taking on missions. This is the Star Fox game I've wanted.
Looks like good arcade fun. Digging it!
Do we have to download 15GB to watch it? /s
I'll get it if Dinosaur Planet is in it and we get to see Krystal and Tricky again. OK maybe not Tricky.
Why is it not fox's voice?
Off the rails.....OK I KINDA GETTING EXCITED NOW
The gameplay looked better in the trailers but I'll wait to see more, Star Fox is an odd franchise at this point without a good home console outing since the N64. Instead we got the characters tacked on to the mediocre Dinosaur planet on the GameCube and the dreadful two screen nonsense on the Wii U, hopefully this rumoured racing game turns out well
I get the feeling Fox was thrown in, or being put in for the sake of it..
They should do a new proper Star Fox game like the originals, and they could have also ported that Wii U game with the motion controls removed for us to play in the meantime.
Ah well.
@carlos82 Hey, don’t sleep on Star Fox Assault.
This being the only Star Fox reveal is pretty disappointing.
15GB download. No thanks.
Dude I can’t wait for this
Not entirely sure what to make of this game, but it does look very nicely polished.
Umm, this game looked better in the trailer, when it seemed like it was closer to a Star Fox game, with space combat and not hopping around on the ground shooting at some monster for 10 minutes straight...
The other fox game on the Wii U had a good developer behind it. Too Bad they were told to include the gamepad into the gameplay. I'm sure if they had full control it would have been better.
So, do I need the physical Arwing to play as Fox? Im kinda done with ttl.
This game looks incredible. This is the Star Fox game I've always wanted. As soon as I heard the accessories weren't necessary and that the full game was accessible without them, I was sold. Although I did pre-order the Star Fox edition because, I need that Ar-Wing
@rjejr
The North American version doesn't have that download label.
So I'm thinking either A They cheaped out on EU region due to lower expected sales B EU region is a download code in a box and NA is a cartridge C they forgot to put it on the pictures in NA
Worth mentioning.
It's no man's sky with guns! We'll lots of borrowed ideas anyway. Waiting on this one as the combat looks really clunky. As mentioned above it looks like an FPS but with a ship sitting on the floor! Hopefully the additional weapons shorten the time taken to kill even basic foes. I was getting bored watching ign 10 minute playthrough let alone shooting the same tiny robot for 12 minutes.
This is so going to be in the PS4 bargain bin. Switch is its only hope - and mostly thanks to StarFox skin and toy
And I shall continue to miss you until you star in your own game again.
@JaxonH Thanks for the multiple choice quiz. I'm going with D sticker is on the back of the box. 😆
You know, I searched Google for awhile trying to figure out where people were getting that 15GB number from before I saw the pic on the nox. I still haven't seen an official statement.
Been a weird E3. News of that XC2 being retail in a box, or a new game, or something, I'm still not sure. Wishing that $20 Octoling was stand alone so I could get it for $16 on Amazon, I'm done with online. Watching them talk about unlocking characters in SSBU. The fact that I'm typing SSBU b/c that's how I always typed the Wii U version. Waiting for dates on TLOU2, Ghosts, and wondering about the PS5. And Dreams. And Yoshi.
I gotta tell ya, after the past 3 days I'm thinking it's time for me to quit gaming. Or at least gaming news, just Google what I need to know when I need to know it. Or just buy games blind, worry about it later. Did you know there is a $100 KH complete on PSN? I bought KH1-6 on PS4 for Christmas, haven't even installed it yet. Maybe I need to give up new gaming and just stick to my backlog. 😛
So I never played a game that uses toys/ambios. So do u need to use the toys or can you play all the content without them?
@rjejr
Plot twist: the retail release is a code in a box, and it still requires the main game to run.
Dead serious.
Try that Shining Resonance demo. Game is great.
Gameplay looks fun... although an Ubisoft game but I still feel some Nintendo touch here.
Day 1.
Day one for me and I am buying the ships!
@Capital70Q hey I forgot about that one, it had a few good flying levels too not much else going for it though.
@Majora101 don't worry that's not the only reason I deride it and I did so back in 2002 so I'm not being lazy today 😉 my biggest problems with it that it's just a very basic Zelda clone with limited exploration, that and the flying levels were terrible
Nintendo should just reassemble Treasure's Sin & Punishment 1&2 team and get them to develop a proper new Star Fox, like SNES and 64, with a new story and no tacked on control gimmicks.
Or they should give it to Platinum, outside of the dual screen gimmick (which was also the reason for the weak graphics) they did pretty well with Zero.
The game looks great but I'm not convinced about how fun it is to play.
This looks great, I just need to know if you can get everything through in game play before plunging in.
Hopefully they'll say something about content really soon :/ This game sounds like it won't be in a ton of production.
Is this motion control? it looks like it moves far too quickly and jittery.
Looks boring to be honest
Looks way better than I thought. I'm actually contemplating getting this.
I would LOVE to see a big Ubisoft Star Fox game.
Something about the way the Arwing is moving just feels off, not very space fighter-like. After playing actual Star Fox games, this doesn't seem like it would fit the bill. I was surprised that a toys-to-life game had a bit of seriousness to it, but the gameplay doesn't look all that exciting.
I agree. There's something off about the flying. Doesn't look like real flying. That's pretty bad.
@JRJalapeno Sorry this is super late but if you’re still wondering, you can play the whole game without physical ships. I would suggest getting the digital version of the game. It’s cheaper and comes with more than the physical?
@SimplyCinnamon53 thanks!
