I always wanted to see more on how games are made, so hearing that an industry veteran is doing a series where he breaks it down, within a niche that many people don't really cover is just insane. I have to sub.

@KryptoniteKrunch I agree! I never made the connection before even though Kirby's Dreamland is my first ever Kirby game but that hit stop he put in Kirby, he also put in Smash Brothers and it is a cool effect and seen in some other games as well.

I'm excited for any old Kirby dev knowledge!

Cool. The games industry, and Nintendo especially, can be fairly tight-lipped about development techniques and philosophy. This kind of insider perspective is pretty rare and interesting. On the flip side, I guess he's probably not announcing any new game projects any time soon, because these videos could send all kinds of mixed messaging about something like that.

Great, maybe the developers of the Nintendo sports games should watch it and learn how to launch games with a decent amount of content that don't make players feel sorry changed 😙

@Pigeon After recently finishing Kirby Super Star 100% and also being a Smash fan, it's a bit more obvious what formula he has for making games.

I'd forgotten about the outliers Kid Icarus and Kirby Air Ride.

I'd love to see him get the chance to go more out of the Smash Bros bubble. Seems like he's got a curse om him that forces him to only spend his life on that.

I wonder what the non-named games he's showing off are. In the Stop for Big Moments video, I can tell that the vertically scrolling shooter is almost certainly one of the 1940 games, but I can't tell what the horizontal psuedo-3D one is, and I'd like to try it out. Honestly, my only problem with this is that he doesn't list the games that he's showing footage from in the description. Otherwise, I absolutely adore this. Plus, when he does the small rapid fire showcase, I can tell that the horizontal one is R-Type, but I can't discern what the vertical one is.

Interesting. I'll definitely give it a watch. I'm always interested in game development topics. I've been watching Mark Brown for a good while now and I really like his newest series: Developing. I should get back into making games on my free time.

EDIT: I'm glad the English version is subbed and not dubbed. I hate it when they dub Directs and stuff.

Watched all three videos immediately. Almost not even worth saying, because of course they are given who's making them, but the videos are so professional-looking and informative. Love what I've seen so far, can't wait for more.

Given his work ethic and dedication (which I've respected since Brawl), it cant be understated how invaluable it'll be that he's doing something like this. And for free, no less!

I also love that the comment sections for the 3 videos so far are also substantial and sincere, for the most part. Kinda just nice to see a place not immediately fall towards jokes, memes, game begging, and trolling like a certain bird app.

When he announced he was doing something new a few month ago, I thought it might be something about game-design! It will be wonderful to witness the wisdom of Sakurai-san.
