A very busy week this week with WiiWare, Virtual Console, DSiWare and no fewer than two eShop releases reaching North American shores. Here's what's awaiting your purchase today.
3DS Download Software
Order Up!! (Ignition Entertainment, $9.99, 2,488 blocks) — Released at retail in Europe, North America can try this kitchen caper via digital download. We'll see if it's a tasty treat or more like mud in your eye with a review soon.
Slitherlink by Nikoli (HAMSTER Corporation, $4.99, 292 blocks) — The Nikoli train keeps on rolling through, this time bringing the less familiar puzzle form of slitherlink, which is all about connecting dots with lines. We'll line up a review soon.
Wii Virtual Console
Double Dragon II: The Revenge (NES, Aksys Games, 500pts) — Billy and Jimmy return to smash more skulls in this 2D beat 'em up. Expect our review to hit hard soon.
WiiWare
Save the Furries (SDP Games, 1000pts) — It's been a while since we've had a premium priced WiiWare title (well, a while since we had any WiiWare, really) but SDP's Save the Furries is here to plug the gap. A conversion of a popular iPad game that's apparently a bit like Lemmings, we'll bring you a review soon.
DSiWare
Lola's Fruit Shop Sudoku (BeiZ, 200pts, 45 blocks) — The official blurb says "this game is the easiest sudoku game in the world!" — sold! We'll put our most stupid reviewer on the case to see if Lola's Fruit Shop Sudoku can live up to its lofty claims.
Jewel Legends: Tree of Life (cerasus.media, 500pts, 66 blocks) — It might have one of the most generic names for a puzzle game ever, but when the official description says you have to "rebuild the world of the Hods in Jewel Legends: Tree of Life" you know you're in for a treat. Full review soon.
What will you buy this week? Let us know in our Facebook poll.

Surprised Double Dragon II came to the VC but good for the people who've been waiting six years for it.
I thought it was going to be something good like David Hasslehoff (I think it was him) said. @#$%
Ah hem... Where is the good games we were promised? Chris hoffman said he was really excited for today. Yet all I see are bad games, no wario land or kid icarus
Who is this Chris Hoffman and what does he know about Nintendo download games?
@James He is a news editor for Nintendo power, and he is very important because he tests the games early. He was even the one who had Mega man man legends 3 prototype before it got cancelled.
Order Up!! is $10.00? Wow; that's not going to do well at all, especially considering first impressions were bad. Dissapointing to see the 3DS VC is absent again as well...
Well I'm very happy with today's offering. Order Up, Lola's Fruit Shop (I have a mental block when it comes to sodoku--hopefully the preschool version will finally bust it down!) and a surprise match-3 game. I'm liking today's download selection!
order up is a good game but I wouldn't pay 10 bux for it. I think I'll just buy games that I have on my wishlist. I'm waiting for that Johnny game to show up on the eShop.
@TheDreamingHawk Yet look at the upset his false prophecies have caused! Repent! I'm just kidding, Chris. I know you read our site. Keep up the good work.
Hell yeah Double Dragon II!
Order Up is/was slated to be released as a retail version at the end of August. I don't know if it will still be coming out as a cart or if it will only be available as the download. I know that I'd rather pay the $10 than the $30 for the cartridge.
@James It isn't as upseting as the fact that we don't learn our download info early like euros do. Shovelware week is shovelware for us.
Double Dragon 2 and Order Up! are pretty awesome, and seeing a good NES Virtual Console game coming out on Wii this late in the game is an awesome surprise. The rest seem pretty sketchy... but two good titles in the same week isn't bad at all.
@Geonjaha We have had some form of VC ever week since the 17th of may.
Nothing too fetching for me, but there's no denying that DD2 is a game worth being happy about. No 3DS VC makes me cry a little. Seems that there's more general clamor for that than anything else. Ah well. For those of you that get Double Dragon, say hello to Jimmy and Bimmy for me, wouldja?
Chris Hoffman? So it wasn't Hasslehoff? @#$%!
Order Up!! Is great! I hope they release the download version in Europe, and Nintendo don't force them to charge full retail price for it!
@CerealKiller528 He doesn't like being hassled on twitter, either. Expecting spam on his page today...
If Nintendo doesn't tell us what's with the VC games Europeans shouldn't get so dang early, then I will be mad. (Unless it's a nintendo direct surprise)
9.99 for order up?! What are they smoking? I got the order up demo. It might be worth 1.99, but ten bucks? Do you want to sell games or put your company out of business? It simply boggles the mind. Pushmo was 6.99 and provided fun to a factor of 7.5 billion when compared to a stupid time management game like order up. How about getting a crappy job at McDonalds instead. At least then you'd get paid for your efforts as opposed to having to fork over 10 bucks. When you get bored of McDonald's you could just quit, with order up you have a spot taken up forever on your memory card and buyers remorse!
What a BLAH update.
@Shworange See why this week is complete shovelware?
We'll put our most stupid reviewer on the case
I love you guys too.
@Chicken_Brutus Good luck, you will need it for the 6 pieces of shovelware this week.
We get it, Hawk. You're not pleased.
@TheDreamingHawk Can't really talk about the rest, but Double Dragon 2 for the NES is an excellent game.
Now, where's our Heroes of Ruin demo?
@thedreaminghawk
No friggin doubt! This is precisely why Nintendo should just have virtual console games ready at the stand by to release at a moments notice. Shovelware week? No problem, we'll drop a VC title to offset the crap. Let's go, there's lots of NES and gameboy games you have yet to release, and start getting GBA and SNES games ready for us! Heck, I'm willing to bet some smaller, non upgraded N64 games would suit this task nicely! Besides, it's been a while since I played BlastCorps!
Well,uh,Double Dragon 2,cool i guess...
@AcidFox Not as good as the first game or the arcade port. I'll take the NES port of DD III please instead.
@Shworange N64 titles don't work well on handhelds, you know. 3D classics versions of SNES games are what we want, not a little kid sudoku game no obe will want.
@Shworange
Dude, they totally released a VC game to offset this week. That's Double Dragon II. I know it might not make sense to you, but Nintendo doesn't treat the eShop as a seperate entity from the Wii Shop. When one does bad, 9 times out of 10 the other does better.
@Shworange The demo only had one component of the game. According to the retail game descriptions, there are multiple restaurants and activities to play. I think it will be worth the $10, especially if the download version is the equivalent of the proposed retail cart.
YAY SLITHERLINK! one of my favorite nikoli puzzles! going to buy it naow... oh wait i gotta wait 2 more hours before the eshop updates
@TheDreamingHawk
Calm down, buddy.
@Shworange
And I wouldn't trust the demo if I were you. It is indeed a time-management game, but if you're judging off the demo... well, you're basically judging the tutorial stage.
Order Up! (for the Wii) has you working at the McDonald's-esque restaurant as a tutorial... and you quit it once you're done. The point of the game is to build up other restaurants, hire sous-chefs (each with their own advantages and disadvantages), order ingredients and spices (which can boost your food), and simply try to please customers (each with their own preferences that add to the variety of food on the menu).
So... yeah, it is a time management game. But it's also considered one of the best cooking games out there (many saying it easily beats Cooking Mama). It may not be your cup of tea, but that doesn't mean it's a terrible game/shovelware... that's like saying party games are shovelware (most party games are, but that doesn't make the party game genre shovelware... kind of like how most shooters are generic, doesn't mean the shooter genre is generic).
...wow, I logged in just to defend a Cooking game.
Eh, I've logged in to do worse.
@Mickeymac It is treated as a seperate entity. In europe and NA and Japan, the release pattern proves it. And don't deny it, this weeks VC game is bad, as it's not the superior arcade version we should have gotten instead. We need wario land please. If there is a coming soon section with said VC in it, I won't completely diss this week.
@Mickeymac - Um, I dont think that makes sense to anyone. Treating them as the same store has consequences, as week after week one of them suffers quite badly with bad releases.
too bad that double dragon 2 was not on the 3ds,might get order up since cooking games are fun like yummy yummy cooking jam,but only if it has a good review
@mickeymack
Sorry, I was talking more about the 3DS than the Wii. I should have been more specific. I am very happy about double dragon 2 on wii though. Kudos is definitely deserved there.
@workerbot and skotski
Thanks for the heads up. Oh and Skotski, don't worry about it. If that's the worst thing you do today, your ahead of the game buddy.
@Skotski I ain't yelling, just speakIng the truth.
Either way, I'm going to get Slitherlink despite my hatred toward hamsters. Looks decent, but not good. It's still a puzzle to spend my $37 dollars on, so...
im still waiting for retro city rampage to come out, thats all im waiting for.
@coolvw - Me too. Double Dragon II is awesome, but I've already got it on cart.
Double Dragon 2 is pretty sweet. Hope it comes to Pal regions. So many NES games I still want!
Wow, Double Dragon 2 came out of nowhere.
Double Dragon 2!!! Oh yeah
Nadda for me. Well, I do have 500 Wii points left over so I might get Double Dragon 2. I probably won't play it, but it'll be nice to have anyway, I guess.
@DreamingHawk: Dang! I left my small violin at Push Square
@LztheBlehBird I don't get it.
Regardless, I haven't quite lost my senses. That will only happen if there is no mention of Wario land today on the coming soon or in the nintendo direct. Complete lack of VC mention by reggie will result in Ness's baseball bat being tossed out my window.
I've been waiting Order Up I'm getting this in a heartbeat.
I actually thought the demo for Order Up was pretty fun and/or addicting. If it had been a couple bucks less I'd probably be getting it today. Can't wait to see how the full game fares in the upcoming review.
Bomb monkey arrives next week! Yay!
sigh... no Retro City Rampage...
Does anyone know when the Kingdom Hearts demo is coming out?
there's gonna be a kingdom hearts demo?
also i don't get what the big deal is with that order up game, it looks like one of those dumb games where you have to take orders and make food and try not to piss customers off. how can a stressful game like that be fun?
I really wish that we would get a 3DS virtual console game every week.
@Marioman64 Yep, it was confirmed at E3. Hopefully it'll arrive for the 4th of july.
@Toadfan It might come out near the release date for KH3D. (July)
Im going to get order up today. But I hate how its $10.00. I hope its worth it!
@marioman64: it's a lot to juggle at once, but the stress of it is part of the fun. when you manage to succeed, to get a little bit farther with each playthrough, that's why some of us like those sorts of games :3
@TheDreamingHawk The 4th of July is on wednesday.
Im gonna laugh so hard at the Lola's Sudoku review. Who will be their "most stupid reviewer"? LOLOLOL
Don't hassle the Hoff!
Do NOT get Order Up! It stinks! Get yourself another game with that money. Order Up! is a poor excuse for a game. It's a waste of life.
@firearrow505 I meant the week of july 4th. Hey, we got gameboy tetris on christmas week. Maybe KI: OMAM will come then?
Might get Order Up if I like the demo.
Meh, nothing of value this week. Double Dragon is nice, but I no longer have a Wii.
hey, its everyones favorite poster, oldgamesonly.
i have double dragon on cart but i will get it for wii too
My God they've finally done it. All you pups out there GET DOUBLE DRAGON 2 enough said. You probably wont beat it for awhile if you even get to the end but once you figure out the spin kick and the buster knee its over. Such an EPIC game why they take so long to have this come out... damn
@JNintendoNerd
And you're opinion is based on what? Have you played the full game already?
Well from a site someone sent me I knew about all of the games except double Dragon 2, so that was a surprise. Next week has bomb monkey and escape the virus, but who knows maybe they'll surprise us again and actually give us something new?
@jNintendoNerd just gonna copy pasta what someone JUST said to me:
theblackdragon said:
@marioman64: it's a lot to juggle at once, but the stress of it is part of the fun. when you manage to succeed, to get a little bit farther with each playthrough, that's why some of us like those sorts of games :3
there's an audience for everything. saying a game is bad in your opinion doesn't mean its bad for everyone else. now that E.T. game for atari, THAT'S a bad game
No wario land in coming soon... (Marvel pinbalk and bomb monkey though)
Nintendo direct BETTER have it, because I'm getting a little mad. Downloading slitherlink now...
OK this is weird... NSMb2 (The game, not the video) has 2 RATINGS. Does that mean it's complete already?
Nice to see the return of Bimmy and Jimmy on the VC. If I just didnt score an NES a few weeks ago I would have definitely picked this one up, but I think I will save my money since I can play my cart. This is probably IMO at least the best Double Dragon game on the NES.
Still waiting for Warioland.
Double Dragon ll! Yeah! I don't even have a Wii! Sme people will never be happy.
@TheDreamingHawk No Wario Land in Coming Soon doesn't mean anything. Right now Coming Soon is just showing eshop exclusive games. I really don't see any reason why they'd bring it up in Nintendo Direct either.
Can't believe It took so long for DDII to hit the VC. Getting this as soon as I can. Glad to have another VC game.
@James HE. IS. OUR. GOD! (in America)
Wow.... exciting.
Again, WHERE IS THE HEROES OF RUIN DEMO?! i'm tired of this waiting.
Ooh Double Dragon II? Awesome. That will make up for how crummy Double Dragon NEON looks!
Glad to see Wii VC getting good games. 3 weeks in a row.
I wish Nikoli would go away.
@MetalMario but... but they make the best logic puzzles ever. they've just only shown Sudoku and Kakuro in the US, but they have tons of other puzzles that have yet to become popular over here that are WAY more fun. you can try 140 puzzles for free here http://nikoli.com/en/ from the 14 puzzles they've made computer versions for (they have more puzzles that aren't as popular yet, like galaxies and... some other one I can't remember right now)
I was hoping for Double Dragon II for GB to be released, though I know a place in town that sells it for $3.99.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jvqji-GqNE
For anyone interested...
Yes Double Dragon 2! Yeah I also thought at first that it was Gameboy at first when reading this, buit Nintendo is goo also. I really hope that we get the awesome Advance Arcade version for the 3DS e-shop eventually.
the hell is my HEROES OF RUIN DEMO.
i could hardly believe we had the game cancelled for june to put it later in july. now you tell me the demo isnt up this week as promised ?
$#!%#$!@##tabarnak
and why, WHY WHHHHHYYYYYYYYYY arent you releasing PICROSS-e already ???
@samholy what would the e be? layers of 2d picross puzzles stakced into a 3d one?
I wonder when will we get Harvest Moon GB. I won't buy anything from the eShop until then.
And... I wonder who the reviewer for that fruit sudoku game will be!
Double Dragon II: The Revenge?!
ABOUT
DAMN
TIME!
Another excellent update. NoA on a roll hope they keep the VC going.
I'm glad I didn't spend all my Wii points yesterday, I've been looking forward to Double Dragon II.
Well i can care less about this week's offerings because they gave us Mega Man X2 last week.
Looks like I'm still waiting for July to get some retail games since nothing good comes out for downloads ever since Ketzal's Corridors came out and even that game isn't so great it's good but not great.
Double Dragon II is fantastic!!! I have it for my NES already but download it if you do not!
points DOUBLE DRAGON 2! I love that game!! download whoo! Finally a Virtual Console game I want on Wii
...So I guess nobody realized you could update Donkey Kong Jr. this week?
@TheDreamingHawk U Mad?
Another great week from Nintendo.I'm sure they love seeing the look on our faces, when they give us games that no body wanted.Truly, they are master trolls.
Considering the fact that quite a bit of games came out this month for 3dsware I'm surprise how bad the line up as been I'm sure we got Art of Balance Touch! But that was it. At least we get Bomb Monkey next week.
week #22 and still no Wario Land to be found....
Nothing for me this week except for Double Dragon II.
@LordJumpMad Say that again and I'll PK Flash you.
Regardless, we can all agree that Wario land NEEDS TO BE in america by now. It's been 4 months already since europe has recieved it, and I don't know WHY it's taking so long. Also keep note that the past 2 nintendo directs have had Eshop news of some sort, so I can hope we will actually get a game worth talking about for 3DS.
I'm actually quite interested in Slitherlink, as I'd never heard of it before listening to a certain Nintendo podcast and one of the guys talked up a retail version of the game that never made it to the States. Seems like a worthy alternative to Picross/Sudoku. We'll see...
Double Dragon 2 will be an instant download for me. I love that game a true NES classic
I'm not sure what brought on this Wii VC revival, especially this late in its cycle, but I'm absolutely loving it.
That is great. Double Dragon II! I was thinking about downloading Double Dragon recently, but I haven't yet. My NES copy still works. But my NES couple of Double Dragon II doesn't so I'm totally going to get it sometime. Possibly both if I cave in and do that, lol.
Order Up ;
Preparing dropouts for their future jobs. XD
Double Dragon II NES version? Arguably the best Double Dragon game ever. So many good times!
When's Kid Icarus GB coming out? I need it...
Now this is a Nintendo Download I can live with! I've wanted Double Dragon II for literally DECADES, and I finally have it! Anyone else just spend a few minutes savoring the beauty that is the Double Dragon theme song? It doesn't have the "umph" that the NES original had, but still a joy to listen to. I'm happy enough about this not to address the pink elephants in the room, Pit & Wario (oops, guess I just did, nevermind).
@Janett
In this economy and job market, try "preparing high school graduates with some college for their future jobs." I know college graduates who have had a hard time getting even menial, low-wage work. Dropouts may as well stay at home the way things are. Things are in a sad state for everybody except the 1%.
@ocarinadude14
Doesn't look like anytime soon. I check the ESRB ratings website every Thursday. Checked today and KI: OMM still isn't ESRB rated, so North America may be SOL.
While I agree that the 'order up' demo was awful, maybe the game is better. They would have sold it in retail so 10 dollars is better than 40. This is an awesome download week. Only missing a Heroes of Ruin demo to be perfect indeed.
Yeah this Wii VC revival has been great. Glad to see it hasn't been completely forgotten yet.
@FluttershyGuy Don't put too much stake into ESRB ratings leaks anymore. They've been tighter about letting the cat out the bag earlier (not just Nintendo platforms). Just cause Kid Icarus isn't on there doesn't mean anything because it'll likely show up the day of or after release.
I did like the Order Up! demo, but not THAT much. Saving my money for Theatrhythm, thanks.
I'm quite enjoying the Wii VC's Spring/Summer resurgence.
@FluttershyGuy You are wasting your time. ESRb doesn't really rate vC games early, and sometimes they get rated the day after release. It beeter come next week to accompany Bomb monkey!
I'm glad the U.S. finally got Double Dragon 2, a sequel much better than the first one AND the NES port is superior to the original arcade version it's based on. Europe and the rest of the world needs to get this title too.
As for Double Dragon III, Aksys should release it to complete the trilogy but it's not as good as part 1 or part 2.
lolol, Order Up is NOT shovelware. If you don't like cooking games, fine. But this is a game with great amounts of polish involved. Easily worth $10, $12-15 would've actually been appropriate.
Also, ignoring the demo, you spend a total of 10-15 minutes at the fast food joint. After, you move on to a "greasy spoon"-esque diner, then an Italian restaurant, followed by a place based upon Asian Cuisine (haven't played yet), then finally a gourmet restaurant.
Final level is a game show, after which (if the game is the same as the others) you can still play freely.
Not to seem like a freeloader, but I was looking forward to the Heroes of Ruin demo. That's okay though! With 30 plays and the excitement mounting, it is bound to be a GREAT game!
@Urbanhispanic Bimmy and Jimmy disagree.
I was hoping to hear something about MiiVerse.
After playing both 3DS offerings, I can safely change my opinion. Order up is actually an addicting game after I got past the first part. And slitherlin REALLY works your brain. I will let this week slide now, but Wario land shoukd at leasy come soon. And after finding out that NES DDII has co-op, I changed my mind about that.
DSI and Wiiware is still shovel ware though.
Yeah! Double Dragon II! I have my old NES cart, but finally, after 6 years of waiting, other people who didn't hang on to their old systems will have the chance to play it. Seriously, what took so long? Do Nintendo and Aksys NOT want to make money? I still can't believe Konami re-released Contra 2 and Contra 3 but NOT the first game. They even made a BRAND NEW Contra for WiiWare. What's the deal?
Boring week is boring.
Order up! on the Wii was amazing. Unfortunately the crappy cooking mama series became famous instead.
... sorry for the double post, I have no idea how that happened.
Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance now available for NTSC 3DS!! (NA!!)
Guys why are you even buying games when the new WII will be out soon. Leave your points to that system and download everything on there.
I love how people are slagging off Order Up!! without actually playing the game, and all the other titles are simply shovelware, despite none having played a lot of them. I wish I had psychic powers, as 10% of the people on this website seem to have....
*not having played...
Fanna! There are no "real" dragon, but rather kung fu!
Double Dragon 2, this Nes version, is for beat em up and non beat em up fans. Definately worth the $5.00.
