Re: Alienware Reveals Switch-Like Device Capable Of Playing PC Games

aetios

This looks interesting but might be tricky on a patent level? I dont know inhowfar nintendo has exclusive rights on the switch concept. And as always these tablets are made or broken by their price tag. if you can buy a full PC for the same price it kind of turns the whole thing into a much more niche appeal product.

Re: Video: Digital Foundry Takes A Look At Final Fantasy VIII Remastered

I've been really enjoying playing final fantasy 9 for the very first time on my PS1. The graphics, while dated, have a certain charm, with all the pre-rendered backgrounds and whatnot. In the remasters of the PS1 games, the characters juts kinda stick out like a sore thumb against the super blurry upscaled backgrounds. I'll get my hands on the original FFVIII some time instead.

FF12 on the switch looks fantastic though. They did a good job on that one,,

Re: Review: Automachef - Considerably More Complex Than Using A Microwave

aetios

From what I gather, this review mainly detracts points because the game is difficult and complex. However, i think that is unfair to the game. It is supposed to be complex - it's the whole draw. I certainly am not asking for a 9, but a 7.5 seems more than justified, going off the lack of other strong detractors described in the review. I will be checking this game out!

Re: Speedrunner Finishes Zelda: Ocarina of Time In Under 17 Minutes

aetios

@Alucard83 Well, speedrunning is obviously not about the story of the game. I would rather categorise it as playing with the game, instead of like.. playing the game, if you catch my drift.

Besides, most speedrunners usually start running games long after they play it casually. If you watch events like Games Done Quick you will notice that often, they really adore the games and are very knowledgeable about the lore. (Often, they are also not, though, which is always amusing...) Speedrunning, to them, is just... their way of enjoying the game over and over.

Re: Miyamoto Believes Nintendo Have Not Fallen Behind With VR

aetios

@sanderev How ridiculous to imply that the fact that something is stored in a digital format is what defines something as digital or physical. No, it is not the storage format. That would mean the NES, SNES, N64, PS1, and every video game console except some very early hardware-only games are digital only.

The distinction digital vs. physical does obviously refer to the distribution of those games. And the Switch very much still supports physical game distribution.

Please don't make a fool out of yourself.

Re: Castlevania Netflix Producer Thinks Pokémon Could "Absolutely" Explore More Adult Themes

aetios

I know this is about film, but i would love to see some more mature themes explored in the games. I cancelled my Shield pre-order yesterday because after thinking about it, I think I'm kind of tired of the story in mainline pokémon games. Give me a cool story that I can dive into with a team of pokémon and I'm all for it :3

They've done it before with Gale of Darkness and Colosseum, so they can definitely do it again... right?

Re: Eiji Aonuma On Returning To The Hyrule Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild

aetios

I really hope they switch up the world enough if they are going to go for and exploration-based game again. Most of the current world seems to be designed around the stuff you can find: shrines, korok seeds, to name a few. Personally I am hoping for a more engaging story (the story is, in my opinion, the weakest part in BotW) and more classic-style dungeons. I am LOVING the dark and creepy vibe the trailer is giving me, but I don't think I need another BotW.

I'll buy it either way...
