Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Was I expecting ball-busting and earth pounding announcements? No! We are close to the E3 show so why would Nintendo make huge announcements BEFORE the big event? (YES, even though the fact stands that they are not going to have a presentation like Microsoft and Sony.)

They will show off their games and I have faith that Nintendo is holding on some good stuff and they will share it with us at E3.

@WhoBeThat I hope that was sarcasm because otherwise, you sound like an a-hole, buddy. It is possible that SOME of us didn't get to play the Wii version. And now with the differences between the Wii version and 3DS, I asked a valid question. I guess that notion was lost among some people.

I never played any of those games but I definitely would give them a try...especially if it's in HD.

the only real way to get back at EA is to NOT buy ANY of their titles...even....the new Need for Speed game....which in my opinion, looks GREAT on the Wii U.....damn.....

The only game that interests me that EA published is Need For Speed. After I buy that game, I won't get anything else. This is just beyond ridiculous!!

I don't know if I should get the Wii version (never played it) or just forget about it and buy it for the 3DS. What should I do?

Also, I will miss the live broadcast since I'll be at work so i'll have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to see it. C'mon, Nintendo....drop some awesome bombs on us!!!

If anyone THINKS of selling their Wii U BEFORE the Nintendo Direct broadcast, let me know because I still don't have one.

Eternal Darkness was one of the BEST games for Gamecube. It deserves to be released on the WiiU VC so Nintendo can give the chance for countless gamers who never played it, to play it.

But this game was so different that it was a good game on its own. They still can use more enemies here in future Mario titles.

I bought the game last week....it's really great and I LOVE all the references. I played the hell out of GTA: Chinatown Wars so the controls felt familiar instantly. This is a good way to send WiiWare out in style.

I agree with the article. If Nintendo can speed up the re-releases of games that were up during the days of the Wii AND continue to bring out new classic titles like Earthbound, then the Wii U VC will be just as successful and profitable when it first arrived a few years ago.

I call BS on this so called "partnership" EA has with Nintendo. Though many people are tired of yearly releases of Madden, there is absolutely no reason for them to not bring it to Wii U; instead it's their way of saying they don't have faith in Nintendo's console.

I won't be surprised if Madden isn't the only game that EA decides to not bring to the Wii U while the other consoles continue to receive high profile games from them.

I have Super Ghouls N Ghosts on the GBA and to describe just how difficult the game is, think of it as if Battle of Olympus, Mega Man and Battletoads merged together into one game.

This would be a BIG deal if it came out for the Wii U. We have all been complaining about the mostly skeptical attitude from most third party developers when it is mentioned. With Rockstar willing to release games for the Wii U, other developers will be more willing to take a chance after they see more people pick it up. To me, it's a system seller and like it or not, Nintendo needs all the support it can get; especially since Sony and Microsoft are ready to unleash their new consoles.

While it's not one of my favorites from the NES series, this one was still fun to play through several times.

@Philip J Reed Your review is spot on and, in my opinion, Mega Man 4 is miles better than Mega Man 6.

I played the demo but I never got around to buying it for the 3DS. Should I get it or should I hold out until it comes out for the Wii U? Also, I'm facing the same situation with Donkey Kong Country Returns; I never bought it for the Wii and now it's coming out for the 3DS.

I know it's wishful thinking but ALL of the titles should come out to the U.S.

Ahhhhh......I remember this code as it could be used for several of Konami's older titles during the 80's. I used it for Contra as I STILL can't beat the game without it.

I agree with the points brought up in the article. It seemed like Nintendo assumed that everyone who bought a Wii before will just buy a Wii U but judging from their advertising, it doesn't show EXACTLY what makes the Wii U different (remember, a whole bunch of casual players bought the system and don't always follow the current releases and/or latest developments of a gaming console.)

People like us who come to websites like NL know what's going on and exactly what we get when we buy a new console so Nintendo needs to change their whole way of advertising the Wii U IF they want to attract the massive crowd that made the Wii the best selling console AND cater to ALL types of gamers.

I say, bring it on, Slick Entertainment!

@AbeVigoda I just downloaded the demo for MH3U on the 3DS so I will see if it's for me (never played it before.) But Luigi's Mansion is FUN and so is the online MP so give it a try.

I think, with Earthbound FINALLY coming to the Wii U VC, the GBA game has a good chance of coming out since there wouldn't be ANY reason for Nintendo to not release it. It's a matter of when. However, it would be crazy awesome if they accepted this guy's help.

We are all in agreement of two things: Nintendo needs to keep their promise from the Wii days of bringing classic games to their Virtual Console AND to make sure the prices are fair enough to pay for. Because these games are digital, the whole "licensing issue" becomes a major factor and it won't guarantee us free downloads when moving from one console to the next "future" console in line.

I like the fact that Nintendo is letting you re-download the retro games you had for the Wii by paying a nice discount; it's not full price and it is something they should make permanent. But if you want to keep the "retro" or "original" feel of the game, you can't expect upgrades that will change it altogether (i.e. online multiplayer.) The purpose of their VC service is to bring classic titles as is; if they wanted to add more to it or upgrade, they can just do a remake....it's that simple.

What I want for Nintendo to do is to continue supporting ALL of the retro consoles they started adding games for: NES, SNES, Game Gear, Master System, N64, Genesis, Commodore 64 and Arcade. There are plenty of titles left to release so please Nintendo: Don't forget about your promise to your loyal fan base.

Wow, that sucks. I have used the Forecast, News and Internet channels on and off since I bought my Wii back in 2006. But I really used the Nintendo, Everybody Votes and Netflix channels almost every time I played with my Wii.

It might be true Rocksteady is putting on a brave face by complimenting WB Montreal. But then again, WB Montreal could surprise everyone and develop a prequel worthy of the two Batman games before it. And there's also the 3DS game.....c'mon, you knew your eyes perked up when they described it as a "Metroidvania style" title.

While it's another third party developer saying they are not interested in making games for the Wii U, Deep Silver is NOT that relevant. The only game they made that was worth taking a look at was Cursed Mountain for the Wii.

Dead Island may have caught some gamers by surprise, it didn't light the video gaming world on fire and Saint's Row 3 is at best, a nice alternative to the "GTA-style" games that Rockstar helped usher in. I wouldn't sweat it too much, people. Once Nintendo releases their arsenal of AAA titles, third party support will pick up even more.

The man did a LOT for the world of video games and it's great he has been passing his vast knowledge to the younger generation who will take over once he rides off into the sunset.

Until that day comes, we can all continue to enjoy his ideas and influence. Now....make Pikmin 3 to appease your loyal fan base.

This is awesome! I'm excited for sure and can't wait to play them both.

Now this was a surprise. Given that it isn't selling as well as it could be, they are going to release it out here?? I'll be watching this one for sure.

Well the NES games had a great roster of music tracks but my favorite ones are Spark Man from 3, Bubble Man from 2, Toad Man from 4 and Skull Man from 4.

It was for the best. Why have the Wii U get a game that was thrashed with negative reviews and even more negative opinions from the people who played it on the 360/PS3?

Now, Nintendo can focus on the GOOD games.

This is an impressive lineup, no doubt. How will Wii U owners choose??

Ducktales HD, Bayonetta 2 and The Wondeful 101 would be my top choices.

Yes you should. Dracula's curse was HARD as hell, LONG as hell (about 17 + stages) but awesome! Let me know when you play it as I still have my coveted cartridge in its original NES cardboard box.

It doesn't need a price cut and shouldn't get one. They need to make sure they have a schedule full of steady releases. Games sell a console and Nintendo needs to be ready when the next Xbox and Sony consoles hit the ground running this fall.

Hmm....I'm curious as to what they are planning on showing during this "secret" event. They could show one or two secret titles and save the rest of the surprises for E3.
