well this is a pretty good showing for this week.....let's hope Nintendo keeps it going with at least ONE title for every category. It's not like they don't have ANY games to pick from **cough cough** sarcasm
@Wildfire the backtracking wasn't THAT bad. I liked the GBA and DS series sine I'm still a big fan of Symphony of the Night. If it wasn't your kind of game, so be it but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
@Wesker I'm with you there. I loved Castlevania: The Adventue Rebirth and still want Konami to make the sequel on it based on the 2nd Game Boy title. I'm not too keen with the 3D Castlevania titles that hit the PS2/PS3. I'm excited about this new one for the 3DS so maybe they will make one for the 3DS and perhaps continue the Rebirth series on the WiiU.
While I've never played Lords of Shadow , I did play Lament of Innocence and it was okay. I'm not thrilled with the 3D Castlevanias and I was hoping for another installment in the Castevania ReBirth series.
@Mercury Actually I thought the same thing was going to happen to me. I take it with me to work everyday and I get at least one hit per day. It depends on where you go and if people remember to turn it on and then close it so it goes into sleep mode.
If I wasn't working, I'd be at this site watching it with everyone else. James, I'm counting on you to get everything so I can read up on it as soon as I get home.
@Sean_Arron The Wii compilation was still good, controls wise. The only "motions" it required was for you to flick your wrist to chuck a grenade. It wasn't a game breaking fault at all.
Well the advantage of getting the Wii compilation was having all of the Metal Slug titles on one disc with a little bit of extras on the side. Assuming they release all or most of the Metal Gear titles, you can pick which ones you'd rather download. I bought the compilation and it's well worth it in my opinion.
I'll be playing through the special stages in Super Mario 3D Land while squeezing in a few sessions of Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition. Finally,if I'm lucky, I'll play a few online matches of Goldeneye 007 for the Wii.
Good points brought up by everyone. Like mickeymac said, the games you want to get don't have to be the mega status ones that get all of the gaming press. When the game drought is in effect, take the time to look at other games that are worth playing but don't get the attention they deserve. I have 4 games and they will keep me busy for a long while.
Good review Jon. The fact that it doesn't have an RPG mode doesn't bother me since I never played any of the previous titles. I just got SSFIV for the 3DS and realized that the simplified button combo touch buttons don't help you in the long run; I've been beaten pretty bad online but still play it often so I can get better. Maybe if you're up for an online battle, let me know.
@ToxieDogg This is still considered a classic title that made an impact on video games in general. I too love Metroid Zero Mission but it was MEANT to be a remake so of course it's superior to the source material.
I have the original GB copy and it's a rather ho hum generic platformer with the Castlevania name slapped on it. It's not the worst game in the series but the sequel outshines it in every single way. For those who never played it, give it a shot. Just be warned that you may not like it as much as you think.
Yes I agree that Nintendo needs to release more games that weren't already released on collection packages. They also need to release more SNES and N64 titles.
I gotta agree with #8; since the Genesis version is now available, Capcom should release the NES version. A lot of people didn't like it but a lot of people loved it at the same time. Get to it Capcom and don't forget to release Mega Man 6, Mega Man x2 and Mega Man X3!
It sucks for Sony, big time. But like others have said, you have to give Sony some time and then we will see how much of an impact it will make. Look at the 3DS; when it wasn't doing fantastic in the beginning, many people claimed it was beginning of Nintendo's downfall.
Great news indeed! Nintendo still has plenty of firepower and with Vita on the scene, the only job Sony will do is to make sure Nintendo doesn't get lazy with the 3DS
This game is definitely on my radar but I already know I want to get Super Street Fighter IV. Plus, I'm considering Dead or Alive as well. Should I forget about Dead or Alive or just go ahead and have 3 fighting games in my future 3DS library?
Rare has NOT been the same since its fallout with Nintendo and then Microsoft buying it exclusively. What has come out since then? A small catalog of games that don't compare to what was released on the N64. Rare has changed but not necessarily for the better.
A great move by Nintendo of Japan. I still have the original cartridge and while I liked the first one a lot, the second one blew it out of the water. Everyone should get this if they never played it before.
We can ALL agree on one thing: the online pass is developers' answer to how to make money on used/second hand games since they don't see profits from that to begin with. The only way DLC will return to its original purpose is for game retailers and developers/publishers to come together and work out an agreement. They could work on reducing the price of new games faster or have developers/publishers accept copies of games from people who don't want to keep it anymore and offer a $5 coupon towards a future game purchase.
It's stupid for retailers to take all the profits from used games while the developers get none. Then, the developers turn around and stick it to the consumers, even though not all of them buy used games. They need to come together and work something out where everyone makes their money without taking it on gamers everywhere.
We definitely need more support for Neo Geo as well as the other retro consoles Nintendo said they were supporting. NOA needs to ramp up their weekly digital titles because they could be making a lot more money instead of backing everything up.
I'd psyched that they will make another 2D Mario game. I loved New Super Mario Bros and with the new 3D technology, I'm sure they can come up with new game play ideas and stuff.
Since when does a game with a "7" rating considered crap?? It's one thing if this isn't the kind of game you'd play but it's another to write it off completely if you never played it before.
I'd like to have all options available to me. I can see buying digital versions of full games and then downloading them into the 3DS or Wii U and at the same time, going to a store and buying a boxed version as well.
This is good news indeed but I don't think this is their attempt to copy what Microsoft and Sony have laid out for their consoles' online infrastructure. They are launching what would work for the Wii U and 3DS while offering other stuff that makes it unique. I agree with other people who said that it should work for everyone who creates an account and that our experiences on it should be smooth and makes us want to come back over and over again, whether it's to buy new games or DLC or to play online games.
I'm thinking he means that whatever software they announce at this year's E3 concerning the Wii U will be ready to use when the launch date finally arrives. They don't want to announce a bunch of things you can do it with it and then when it comes out, you had to wait a month or two (look at the what happened when the 3DS launched.) It's a smart move and hopefully they learned their lessons from the 3DS launch as well as some of the mishaps concerning the Wii.
This installment was pretty fun to play through. And while I love Mega Man 2, it's not my favorite; that honor goes to Mega Man 3 (I love that game to DEATH)
Nintendo needs to revamp how many digital titles they release on the Virtual Console. It was one of their biggest selling points and so far, they are intentionally holding back on retro games that will sell well. We all have our wish lists but it's a matter of whether Nintendo will release specific titles that everyone wants to download.
They need to fix this before the Wii U is released so they can stand a chance on the digital content front. There are too many games and believe me, there are way too many people with Wii Points and aren't buying anything since WiiWare isn't exactly setting the world on fire to begin with. Please, Nintendo! Buck up and release more games and equally support ALL the retro systems you said you would support!
I was never a fan of NASCAR games and for Firebrand Games to churn out this piece of flaming shovelware will make sure no one who is curious about NASCAR games in general will give it a chance.
This was one of many SNES games that I played to death. It's worth beating it with the 100% rating because of the extra stuff you unlock (stages, mini games, different intro screen and music.)
For those of you who never played it before, please do it quickly.
