Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Developer Seemingly Revealed

Tobiaku

@RygelXVIII @HatesCheese Regarding the Amazon thing, could also be that Amazon want more money of each sale than Nintendo is willing to let them have, Amazon has done something similar with Disney and Disney movies. (Best source I could find regarding the Disney thing was this https://www.theverge.com/2014/8/10/5987921/amazon-puts-disney-dvd-and-blu-ray-pre-orders-on-hold but I remembered there was something similar with Disney)

Re: Tetsuya Nomura Contemplates Retirement And Concluding Kingdom Hearts

Tobiaku

@MJF I used to read OAG back when Billy ran that site. Was the best source for news about censorship of niche games. He is also the most well-known online personality I know about who quit, so best example I could use. My point was not all moved on. Some just quit.
And I didn’t like you calling someone gamergate losers, as Gamergate is not something I associate with losers.

Have a good evening

Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024

Tobiaku

Made a mistake while answering, thought I was still on the question above it. My favorite Nintendo franchise is Famicom tantei. But I was not introduced to it on Switch, I played on VC on my Japanese 3DS first.

@juxjox My worst eshop purchase is Shephy.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo Needs More Characters Like Paper Mario's Vivian

Tobiaku

@Weeze86 If you reread my original comment, I said Vivian is a guy in the original Japanese version. Just because trans rights and representation has changed does not mean the original version of this game is not still the original version. In the original version Vivian is male, and thats what I said. I never said anything translations or the Switch versions of the game.

Re: 'Tales Of Kenzara: Zau' Director Addresses "Constant Targeted Harassment"

Tobiaku

@PKDuckman Nichegamer is good for the most part.
But @Sherlock- linked a video that also shows it.

Anti-woke is not the same as alt-right.
And even if it were, you gave examples of female and non-white characters they don’t complain about, which proves my point that they don’t ALWAYS complain when characters are not straight white men. Otherwise they would hsve complained about those female characters who looks like super models too, for not being white and male.

Just so you know, plenty of great games made in Japan with Japanese asian characters as main characters (not white) and they don’t even need to be ninjas.

Re: 'Tales Of Kenzara: Zau' Director Addresses "Constant Targeted Harassment"

Tobiaku

@AeonicB I said the anti-woke crowd don’t mind playing games without white dudes in them. I’m anti-woke myself and like those games. I just used Dead or alive xtreme 3 and Senran Kagura as examples of games without white dudes the anti-woke crowd did not complain about. I forgot Zack’s name at the moment when I was writing the first replie. If you read @lizuka s comment I was responding too, they wrote "Even the comments on the review of the game are full of people offended by the game daring to exist and whining about something something woke so yeah, what he's describing is obviously actually happening. The vocal minority's constantly screeching any time a game dares have someone who isn't a white straight cis man in it in a position of prominence."

The point I was making are, we are able to enjoy games without straight white men.

Re: 'Tales Of Kenzara: Zau' Director Addresses "Constant Targeted Harassment"

Tobiaku

@AJWolfTill The whole point I was making was that the anti-woke crowd is able to enjoy games without straight white dudes in them.

If I was a woman I would probably still enjoy these games.

To your second point, I think they would not necessary be triggered by it. If the dudes in for example Uppers lost their clothes I wouldn’t mind it any particulary.

Re: 'Tales Of Kenzara: Zau' Director Addresses "Constant Targeted Harassment"

Tobiaku

@Lizuka If you CTRL F search woke in he review, you will notice that those that used that word there are whining about the anti-woke crowd, and one dude saying he is not there to spout do not buy woke products. And the anti-woke crowd is perfectly able to enjoy games without white male characters. For example, Dead or alive xtreme 3 is all female, plus one black dude you don’t play as.Another example would be Senran Kagura. All characters are Japanese asians, and all playable characters are female.

Re: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Will Restore Missing Posters In Patch 3

Tobiaku

@jowy_sw We clearly have different experiences. I’m just giving my point of view. I’m not saying there are no hypocrites on the anti-censorship side, I’m just saying as far as I have seen, there are more people on the anti-censorship side against censoring LGBT stuff than there are people on the other side who care about censorship of other things, like fanservice. I don’t think the anti-censorship side is perfect, but better than the opposition.

I mainly read about games that catch my interest. If something I’m not interested in gets censored, I’m most likely not going to read about it.
I care about censorship of games I play, while I’m not going to care about censorship of games I’m not interested in, I’m not going to support censorship, or mock those who do care about censorship of those games.

Anyway, have a good day ^_^

Re: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Will Restore Missing Posters In Patch 3

Tobiaku

@jowy_sw Yes really. I dug up the Spiderman article I mentioned
https://nichegamer.com/marvels-spider-man-2-removes-pride-flags-in-middle-east-version/
And here is the censorship thread from psnprofiles. Thread got locked due to trolls, and the fight thst ended up getting the thread banned is deleted, but you can still see the entire list as far as the creator had updated it until it was closed. If someone could provide him with proof a playstation game was censored, he put it on the list.
https://forum.psnprofiles.com/topic/85087-list-of-censored-games-ps5-ps4-vita/

Mods are one thing. Modding your own singleplayer game does not affect other people.

Feel free to tell me what subreddits you frequent, I could do with more subreddits to read than just kotakuinaction.

Yes you can generalize. You could also dig up people calling Hogwarts legacy woke and dump all the haters of that game into the Go woke go broke crowd if you feel inclined to do so.

I think Saudi Arabia bans LGBT stuff, there was some talk about China might be doing so, I know in Russia they get instant 18+ ratings, but most people on the English speaking internet mainly focus on Europe, America and Australia when it comes to these things. And Japan regarding Sony’s censorship policies.

I just ment to say I have seen more anti-censorship people care about LGBT stuff than I have seen people who are not part of that group as you generalize it, care about censorship of for example fanservice.

Re: Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Will Restore Missing Posters In Patch 3

Tobiaku

@jowy_sw All censorship is bad yes, and in a ideal world we would have had a complete database about censored games, but you can’t expect each individual person to remember every game ever that has been censored. And most people don’t follow games they are not interested in. I remember I saw on Nichegamer, a site you probably would describe as anti-censorship that Spiderman 2 had pride flags removed in Middle East. I remember the guy who ran the thread about censorship of PlayStation games on Psnprofiles did list every game people could prove were censored, including LGBT games. Until trolls got the thread locked. Depending on how often you need it to happen for it to be usually to you, it might not happen usually, but maybe LGBT games are not censored as often as games about other subjects? Of course all evidence I can provide is ancedotal, but I do see the anti-censorship crowd talk about censored LGBT games. More often than the other way around.

Re: Review: Tales Of Kenzera: ZAU (Switch) - An Emotional Metroidvania That Plays It Too Safe

Tobiaku

@Polvasti most of the boycotts are because of the involvement of SBI (and on Steam also the use of Denuvo), not because the main character is not a straight white guy.
And there is proof the creator of this game worked with the founders of SBI and ran a company with them, called Bebe sucre. https://thatparkplace.com/sweet-baby-inc-boycott-crushes-tales-of-kenzera-zau-as-games-total-concurrent-players-peaked-at-just-287/

Re: Lara Croft's Pinup Posters Go Missing In Tomb Raider I-III Remastered

Tobiaku

@SykoMuffin They will probably think that the censorship was pointless, and as someone else in this comment section mentioned, that some of those who don’t think this censorship is a big deal would probably care a whole lot if those pixels and polygons looked like a pride flag.
And when they realise women exists, they might look at Stellar Blade and notice female game characters based on real people don’t need to be uglified.

Btw, its possible to know real women exists and not think games should be censored.

Re: Pokémon's COO Wants To Keep Franchise Going For "Hundreds Of Years"

Tobiaku

@Astral-Grain You mentioned Hogwarts legacy in the post I replied to, how come you can credit the anti-woke crowd for a failed boycott of that game (a good chunk of the boycotters boycotted it because of the author of the world the game is set in made comments they didn’t like, not because the game is woke)

Yet because other people also didn’t buy Saints row it means the boycott of those who did it because they thought the game is wokeheld a fake boycott?
How come they can take the credit for the failed boycott of Hogwarts legacy, but not Saints row?

Re: Pokémon's COO Wants To Keep Franchise Going For "Hundreds Of Years"

Tobiaku

I wish Pokémon a great future, love collecting the cards, the new anime is fine despite I prefered the old one with Ash and the Team Rocket trio, I like the games but hope future games gets a bit more time before launch to be less glitchy. I have not been affected by glitches myself, but I have read some worriesome stuff online
—————
@Astral-Grain I think the new Saints row game maybe sold badly because of that stuff.
@Bret It got likes because people pressed the thumbsupbutton Either intentionally, or unintentionally without noticing it.

Re: Talking Point: Does Zelda: Ocarina Of Time Need A Full Remake?

Tobiaku

@TotalHenshin Can read a little bit but I am not very good Still would like to see them remade. Shin Onigashima atleast got releases in Japan, I have the GBA Famicom mini version, and I think it was on Virtual consoles too, meanwhile Time twist and Yuyuki never even got VC rereleases… I think Time twist might even not even have a spirit in Super Smash Ultimate (I could be wrong)

Re: Review: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass Wave 6 - Takes The Chequered Flag With A Safe Final Lap

Tobiaku

On its own, wave 6 is fine. I think Peachette is as stupid as Cat Peach or Tanuki Mario, and like them should have been a costume, not a whole racer. (Still better than Pink gold Peach, Baby Daisy and Baby Rosetta, atleast Peachette is from a non-Mario Kart game) the other racers are cool additions. The courses, while not bad, are not personal favorites either, but they are good. What really drags it down for me is the overall amount of Wii courses across the Booster pass… SNES got shafted hard, and Double Dash got a but shafted too.

Re: Talking Point: Which Old Track Do You Wish Had Made It Into Mario Kart 8 Deluxe?

Tobiaku

Mainly missing Mushroom bridge, Dino dino jungle and Delfino square. If I had those, all my favorites would have been in Mario Kart 8 deluxe. I feel whoever choose the tracks were too biased toward Wii, but to be fair, Wii fans would probably feel the same about Double dash if if I got to pick tracks, so let me be diplomatic and say I would trade Moonview highway and Daisy circuit for Mushroom bridge and Dino dino jungle and let them keep the rest of the Wii stages.

Re: Talking Point: Would A Third Wave Of Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Have Been Too Much?

Tobiaku

@Matl Nothing wrong with people wanting everyone back again (even if its sadly unlikely) and a port would be the best way to ensure it happens. People are free to hope. Either way, people are going to speculate who will get in or not. People have done so long before Ultimate. Its not going to stop just because the next one is an even better version of Ultimate.

Its not the end of the possibility until the next game is announced.

Getting everyone back would clearly be the ideal situation, that way everyone would get to keep their favorite characters.

Re: Talking Point: Would A Third Wave Of Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Have Been Too Much?

Tobiaku

Would love a wave 3! (and more!)
Loved the game before DLC, love the game even more with DLC, and there are still many great characters that could be added! Ayumi Tachibana (now that Famicom Tantei is out in English) Henry from Codename STEAM, just drop the cloth breaking and give her a black hole under her shirt like other female characters in Smash) Hershel Layton from Professor Layton, Reimu from Touhou, there are plenty of characters to pick from! Would love to see what moveset they would give someone from Idolmaster.
