I respect your opinion but i still think they are lowering the bar almost to the ground. At the very least, they are being pretentious by not simply calling this a list of "best products."

saying Nintendo "invented it" simply because it didnt exist before also doesnt really hold, for me. for example, nintendo arguably invented the analog stick (please dont @ me, ppl) for the n64, but to call the Gamecube stick also an "invention" simply because "it didn't exist before" is obviously disingenuous, imo.

for example im sure someone made a better cotton gin shortly after Eli Whitney (including, probably, Eli himself) but the invention was "the cotton gin" and Eli Whitney invented it, the first time.

Not really... that is what the word "invention" is usually reserved for: when you make something that is not simply iterative of what came before.

i got a Steam Deck last week and everything "just works," and if i can dream up literally anything to try that usually "just works," too.

i havent been feeling Nintendo's first party games since roughly odyssey so there are pretty much zero downsides.

the analogue triggers and bumpers on Deck are DIVINE, incidentally. SO glad to have em back in my life ❤️

every time theres a "cant wake the switch 2 console" in the CONS section, it should be Nintendo that loses a point somewhere, somehow. ludicrous to deduct points from this product because of Nintendo's greed.

OTOH, why is this particular controller being reviewed here, when its obviously been purposely designed for steam, pc, xbox type applications? it doesnt even work with swotch 2 out of the box 😂 😂 it makes no sense at all. this controller got absolutely robbed in this review for no reason. this one should be on Time Extension where it might have been appreciated for what it actually is. (🙄)

(PS - no mention of the controllers absolutely coolest feature: switchable triggers that feel PHENOMENAL in both digital and analog modes. you can even make one digital and one analog 😱 and zero mention of it made.}

incidentally, what is the "invention" of Switch 2? RTFA, I guess, but are we just calling any product brought to market and "invention," now?

if they come out with some games i "just gotta" have, ill be tempted of course, but 450 for a Nintendo is just too much for me and ill never pay it. if they lower the price over time (no longer counting on it) itll eventually hit that "sweet spot" of library : price and ill get one, just like i did with 64, cube, and U back in the day.

but for now, i got a Steam Deck a week ago, im WAY happier with it than i ever was with my Switch, it does far more than play the games it was designed to play, and it fixes almost everything i dont like about switch. bonus: im no longer disappointed by nintendo first party games every 2-6 months 😬

yeah, ive not enjoyed the Switch generation. RIP Nintendo, c.1985~2015 🥲

I agree with you to some extent, but they should have BROUGHT IT with first party games. this year should have been chock a block with heavy hitters, or what is the point?

my favorite Nintendo is the one that tries as hard as they can but still remains the underdog. so the opposite of what we are seeing 😂✌️

it seriously feels like Nintendo waited 7-8 years to follow up the Switch yet still somehow rushed it. They lost me on this one: I got a Steamdeck last week and havent been this blissed out over a console since Wii, launch day. 🤩✌️

OTOH i don't believe the strategy of re releasing their first game as their "third" game is all that hot in the first place, so.

IMO FF7/Chrono Cross wouldve been a much more satisfying and interesting pairing. ✌️👍

I tend to agree. I think what we are seeing is the author's personal excitement being expressed, which is cool, but this being a "news story," it's not really appropriate, here.

I tend to think of this site as more of a blog. it helps soothe my discomfort regarding the relative lack of journalistic standards here and there. ✌️ (no offense intended, it is what it is and obv ive stuck around)

If the author wanted to express something personal about this upcoming game, there is an "opinion" tag for that, or "soapbox," or who knows what else to choose from.

I frankly miss the "previews" section that monthly publications used to have, in addition to "news" and "reviews." it was there just to let the editors talk about the games coming up in any way they chose, hype or anti-hype, just-the-facts, whatever.

this site blurs the line between fact, opinion, conjecture, and speculation regularly, but that seems to just be the era of "internet journalism" in which we find ourselves. 👍✌️❤️

i dont think user intended to smear Devolver. Rather, they were saying their games are more for a refined palate, not shooting for the broadest appeal possible (in a good way.)

PS - I agree, Devolver is a great publisher and AFAIK ive bought more of their games than any other on switch, maybe by a hefty margin 👍

i can, and will, wait for (seemingly incomplete) games to "be patched" before i spend money on them, or not, as the case may be. ultimately, this is how the industry works. ✌️

edit - the first two games actually but im assuming its true for the whole series. though to me, a mouse is a videogame party killer. my opinion.
