Re: Random: It's Been Five Years Since We've Heard Anything About Pikmin 4

TexanBanjo

I waited 9 years for Pikmin 3. I've resigned to the fact that Pikmin is a once in a decade release, if we're lucky.

You just have to understand, Pikmin is so low on the priority list for Nintendo, that if Miyamoto isn't actively pushing for it, it's probably not getting made. And Miyamoto is most likely preoccupied with theme parks and movies, so it may still be years and years before we see another Pikmin, or 3 may have been the last one for all we know.

Re: Random: Don't Expect To See Sonic Kissing Anymore Humans, Says Sega

TexanBanjo

>expecting praise for not putting obscene gross awkward scenes in their games

Yeah that should just be the default, you don't get praise for that. How about not trying to reinvent 3D Sonic with every entry? How about taking a style that works (Boost Sonic or Adventure Sonic) and really just focus on developing that style without any goofy, gimicky stuff?

How about disbanding Sonic Team and letting another studio work on a 3D Sonic for change? Sonic Team isn't even the same people that brought us Adventure or the classics, why keep this farce going?

Re: Feature: Will We Finally See These Games In The Not-E3 Nintendo Direct?

TexanBanjo

Here's my pessimistic prediction: Metroid Prime 4 and Retro Studios are in development hell and the studio will soon close along with the cancelled Prime 4.

Pikmin 4 will not release on Nintendo Switch given we already got Pikmin 3 Deluxe. Nintendo probably even fought against putting resources into porting it to Switch. I don't think the higher ups want to commit resources to what is essentially Miyamoto's obscure pet project, so it gets put on the back burner, and Miyamoto himself is busy with theme parks and movies.

We might get a Pikmin animation, but no games for the foreseeable future. I wish Pikmin was bigger, but it's unfortunately very, very niche.

Re: Nintendo Admits It Released A New Model Of The Switch To Fight Piracy

TexanBanjo

Yeah and the brave attempt at game preservation (which Nintendo so callously refers to as "hacking") is the direct cause of Nintendo's anti-consumer policies and contempt for their loyal fanbase.

I pour one out for Gary Bowser, and for everybody continuing the good fight.

Back up your copies lads, make sure Nintendo can't hoard their legacy content and don't let Bowser's sacrifice be in vain.

Re: Sega Has Considered Dreamcast & Saturn Mini But Is Worried About Extreme Costs

TexanBanjo

Actually, the idea of re-releasing a console with more energy efficient modern hardware that's HDMI compatible, can play original media with better optical drives for all the releases that would be difficult to include due to copyright, uses flash memory instead of memory cards sounds pretty neat.

If they released a Dreamcast with the hits pre-installed, an optical drive to play the rest (or an easily hackable OS lmao) I'd jump on that even if it was a few hundred bucks.

Re: Feature: How 'Wayward Strand' Fights Misconceptions To Give Elderly Characters Agency And Dignity

TexanBanjo

It's strange to me that some people would rather engage with an idealized, filtered form of the elderly rather than spending real time with real elderly to gain their wisdom and enjoy their company.

That's what strikes me as so bizarre about this idea of using games to "train people for empathy". No video game, movie or book can truly replicate the complexities, problems and joys of a real human being that's been around for decades longer than any of us.

Ultimately if this sort of thing really does inspire youngins' to spend time with/and really listen to what the elderly have to say it will be a positive thing. But we need to be careful not to think we can replace real human engagement with something artificial and entertainment focused and possibly ideologically influenced.

Re: Nintendo Confirms It Will Not Attend Gamescom This Year

TexanBanjo

I wouldn't be surprised if they ditch the June Direct since there's no E3 (I don't think it makes sense, but this is Nintendo).

They've already got their major releases for the year announced (Xenoblade 3, Splatoon 3, Mario Sports Game and new Pokemon) what major title can they announce and squeeze in for the year?

They can easily save a direct for the Fall or Winter or even push it to February to talk about 2023 stuff. This is the end stretch of the console's lifespan, they're probably investing more time and energy for the next console.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the last year we get plenty of titles.

TexanBanjo

>graphics don't look horrible and cheap

>U.I isn't obnoxious

Bros, is this going to be a decent Pokemon game???

I really, REALLY hope they don't have the EXP Share permanent applied again, that was absolute trash.

I'm not expecting another Black/White but if it's at least as good as Diamond/Pearl I'll be buying a Pokemon game for the first time this generation.

Re: Horror Game 'MADiSON' Shines In First Switch Gameplay Trailer

TexanBanjo

@JackMcCloud Yeah, I think the first game in this Startle genre that I played was probably Slenderman lmao

It really puts a damper on playing something like Outlast because I'm just waiting for the next startle instead of soaking up the atmosphere and pondering the story like in Silent Hill.

Re: Nintendo Shares New Music Track For Splatoon 3, Have A Listen

TexanBanjo

@HeadPirate Yeah it's really interesting to see a relatively new IP from Nintendo fly so high so quickly, especially since it started on a failed console.

What is it, a consequence of Switch hype? Incredibly coherent realized world? The fact that it's multiplayer?

Maybe a little of everything, but I'm glad I gave Splatoon 2 a chance a few years ago. I'm ready to see how many people get on board after the success of the last one.
