Fancy a game on Switch that's based on Celtic mythology? We don't get too many of those, sorry — but you'll enjoy Clan O'Conall and the Crown of the Stag, an action-platformer made by Canadian studio HitGrab.
Based on Irish, Welsh, and English archaeology, art, and history, Clan O'Conall is all about a group of three fighters — Haggish, the heavyweight bruiser, Kilcannon, master of sword and javelin, and Clakshot, a speedy ranger — who are fighting their way towards the Mother of Demons, Caoránach, to rescue their father.
You'll also be tussling with a number of Celtic-inspired bosses along the way, like the giant hell-boar Twrch Trwyth, the headless horseman Dullahan, and the colossal cyclops Balor.
The game has just been announced for a June 2nd, 2022 release on Nintendo Switch, where it'll cost £5.59 / $7.49 / €6,19.
Does this game Cel-tickle your fancy? Let us know in the comments, and sorry about the bad pun. It's really hard to make Celtic puns, okay?

Irish, Welsh and English? Leaving us out even with a character dubiously called ‘Haggish’ with ginger hair and traditional tattoos!
Some Eyvind Earle inspired background I see..
I'll wait for reviews but the art style is very tempting.
Looks like guacamelee. Which isn’t a bad thing.
@darkswabber I said the same exact thing. Guac 1 and 2 are some of my favorite games on the system, so this looks like it'll scratch that itch. Definitly on my radar.
I played this on Steam awhile back. It's decent.
@nessisonett That's a NL mistake - the game is Celtic inspired but set in "Hibernia". Red hair is not an exclusively Scottish trait, tattoos are Celtic and not exclusively Scottish, and Clakshot also has red hair so...
Again - it's a Celtic theme blend. No more, no less. Not Scotland/England/Ireland/Wales.
The team behind this are lovely guys. I've talked to them in a few streams in the past, and it's a great little game too. Don't try to find a fight where there isn't one.
Looks decent enough even if a lot like Guacamole. Price point suggests a pretty short game though.
@wonderclassic The issue is more the inclusion of England but not Scotland in the description. The Celtic nations are Ireland, Scotland, Wales, The Isle of Man, Cornwall and, at a push, Brittany. The whole point is that the English committed cultural genocide against the other nations and forced their culture and religion on the rest of us. You’ll find a whole load more people in touch with their Celtic roots in the Gàidhealtachd than in England.
I'm glad Celtic culture is getting more spotlight, it's quite overshadowed by Norse but I love all Germanic/Celtic mythology and culture so the more the merrier.
@nessisonett Look like you got your independence early here, NL have already ousted you.
