Game Grumps, the studio behind light-hearted visual novel Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator, is shifting direction into the horror genre with their new upcoming title Homebody.
The game has been announced for PC and consoles and is said to be coming "later this year", however no firm release has been set as of the time of writing. The game marks a drastic change of pace for the studio, but Homebody's game director Jory Griffis said that the work on Dream Daddy has provided the team with invaluable experience:
"We're obsessed with horror games, so when coming off of Dream Daddy, it was a natural shift to explore the horror genre We were excited to retain the narrative and storytelling values we learned making Dream Daddy and put them to use in a game with a totally different tone and ambitious new mechanics."
Here's a list of features to give you a flavour of what Homebody will entail:
- Narrative driven horror game, with 80s slasher vibes.
- Surprising and responsive enemy AI system ensures no two encounters will ever be the same.
- Dynamic hints and an in-game clue journal help players make progress.
- Robust dialogue system giving the player different choices to make that will create a unique gameplay experience every playthrough.
- Secrets and mysteries to unlock.

Based on the video I have no idea if this game really is all that scary. The graphics look dated and poorly stylised.
Dream daddy seems to never go on sale. I would like to play it
I'm very excited and intrigued to see a horror game from Jory "Good Boy" Griffis!
I wish Leighton Gray did art for this game too, because she is a horror queen.
All I see are four black rectangles with a bit of yellow. It would be great to make the game a bit brighter. You can do scares in a daylight, as modern horror films have demonstrated.
@Pillowpants PS1 graphics is a visual style that is actually becoming increasingly popular with independent horror games. Some people might find it unscary due to the lack of realism, while others might find it creepier due to the uncanniness of the low poly graphics. It's definitely not a style for everyone.
@Abeedo Then that's probably it. I don't find low poly graphics appealing at all. Mabe it's because I'm an 80s kid and grew up with the 8-bit and 16-bit consoles and find pixelart games very appealing. It does all come down to taste and I care very little for PS1/N64 graphical styles. Sometimes I can't even understand how I used to find such graphics hyper realistic these days. xD
Low poly can be good but this looks spookily low effort.
@Abeedo I think you are right, but these look more like Wii graphics, instead of PS1, in my opinion. I wish they looked worse actually.

Is Arin involved in this? If so that's hilarious and I can't wait for people to rip into it
