Netflix has unveiled its first look at the upcoming Sonic Prime series via a 'Netflix After School' preview trailer. It's pretty short, but it features none other than our favourite blue hedgehog racing to collect rings before bragging about himself. Typical Sonic...
Originally announced way back in February 2021, Sonic Prime will feature 24 episodes and is promised to be a "high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse rests in [Sonic's] gloved hands". We got a little peak at some concept art later in 2021, but this is the first time Netflix has lifted the lid on what the series will actually look like in motion.
Here's hoping the series winds up being as entertaining as the recently released Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, which was close to reaching $300 million in global earnings last time we checked.
Will you be checking out Sonic Prime when it debuts on Netflix? Let us know in the comments!

Cancelled my Netflix subscription recently, glad I'm not missing out.
Something about it looks, off.
Sonic Boom's animation wasn't outstanding mind you, but it served its purpose.
@Kimyonaakuma lol same here. I will not be missing Netflix
It will be canceled in two seasons.
Rings… coins… same diff…
Doesn't look good enough to subscribe for... hopefully the next trailer will be more impressive 😂
Did you know that Sonic Prime’s logo went through 53 different iterations?
@Munchlax that's almost the number of iterations Sonic in general has gone through.
@pepsilover2008 but it'll probably actually just be 1 season split across 2 parts because they have to pay the animators more if they renew it
@Munchlax interesting! I thunk you should write an article on that!
Looks good. I'll defo check it out
Hmm....

Dude. This looks really good.
I'll wait for more of Sonic Prime being shown before I decide if it's good or not.
But I already cancel my Netflix subscription last year or so after they canceled the Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
> We got a little peak
Whoa calm down.
Interesting……
After the Cuties debacle, nothing Netflix does can bring me back. Not even Sonic.
@BloodyMurder thank you for being so “woke”. I’m sure as soon as you canceled all those bad mothers came to their senses.
In all seriousness, don't gatekeep these guys.
Remember what happened with Roger. Harassing Deven Mack because you don't like his Sonic voice is completely unacceptable. He is a good man, and doesn't deserve the hate. (Plus, we finally have another black guy voicing Sonic. How cool is that?) This statement goes for the entire Prime voice cast. Don't go harassing them, as they are all talented.
Plus, a lot of them come from MLP: Friendship Is Magic, which is a good show, and probably the best thing Wildbrain has ever made.
So long story short: Don't gatekeep, or you are being an *****.
Actually using my brothers subscription and used Netflix recently to watch cobra Kai. Dang good show.
Now if only they still have karate kid on the service.
Finaly a first real look, its looking good...so far.
I'll never care what's on the platform that hosts Big Mouth and Cuties. Cut my subscription when the latter released.
@Luigisghost669 That's not what "woke" means 😅
From this extremely small preview, it looks pretty good to me. I'll keep an eye on it and see if they decide to ruin it in some kind of Masters of the Universe way =P
I'm no expert—or even an amateur for that matter—when it comes to animation... but Sonic's running animation looks off.
@Luigisghost669 ...Your comment makes no sense.
Terrible voice for Sonic.
Knowing Netflix, they'll cancel it after a season before it gets a chance, and then blame "password sharing"
@hypercoyote The word "woke" has no meaning anymore. It's just a dumb buzzword
If there's an episode called "Federation Force," you can expect there to be a lot of pain.
I’m just going to have to see more to be sure, it looks like the animation can give sonic his fast personality, but for all we know that might not be the case.
I’m going to need to see more before passing judgment.
I’m not re subscribing to Netflix
Maybe its just me I dont like sounds of Sonic's voice. And not feeling the animation I hope they don't mess this up.
I'm gonna stick to the games thanks. The mega drive games.
He looks so adorable ;-; definitely going to watch and hope for the best
Ehhhh I'll still watch it, but it'll have to be shown more before I fully get an opinion.
@Greatluigi
No way man I have my aunt's netflix to watch Cobra Kai too. I've almost finished the third season its really good. Also sonic I guess.
The kids all love Mario.. until they see Sonic..
I will wait for it to come to Disney+.
Why did they change the english voices again?
Not a fan, or a subscriber, to Netflix. This small tidbit looks ok, I guess.
While the new voice does feel a tad off, it's just a short tease and could be the direction at fault more than the voice actor himself. I'll wait for something substantial before I really judge anything about this show.
Very excited for the second part of The Dragon Prince. Easily the best modern animation series there is.
Something about Sonic's eyes seems a bit off
I miss the Sonic Adventure 2/Sonic X artstyle
Sonic's "infinite-sign-shaped legs" running animation looks weird and kinda awful when not seen from the side.... ughhh first bad impression... and I'm a die hard Sonic fan...
VA is great though!
