It's believed Crash Bandicoot could soon be returning in a new multiplayer game, with a reveal possibly taking place at some point throughout next week.
According to Windows Central journalist Jez Corden, a new Crash Bandicoot "brawler" game designed for multiple players up to four players may get revealed by Toys For Bob. He reportedly let this information slip on the latest Windows Central podcast. Here's what he had to say (thanks, Pure Xbox):
"New Crash? I wonder where you got that information from? I wasn't supposed to leak that."
"I think we could see a new Crash Bandicoot, and not only is it gonna be a new Crash Bandicoot, it's gonna be a multiplayer Crash Bandicoot... It's like a four-player brawler almost, but Crash oriented."
"Wumpa League" has been rumoured for some time now, although there's no guarantee that's what this game might be, or what it will necessarily be called. Jez himself said he couldn't recall the official title during the podcast.
It's also unclear at this point in time what platforms it would be released on. Switch has got all of the Crash remasters so far, including the new fourth entry - so hopefully it's included in any future announcement if there is one.
Toys for Bob also said there was more Crash Bandicoot coming "very soon" during last year's anniversary celebrations:

No, please.
Brawler game type is not fun at all for me.
Got the bad experiences from 4 players in ARMS.
Fighting with 4 peoples in arena is very unfair for me as the winner is unpredictable.
I prefer Crash Bandicoot Party game like the NDS version.
Weren't Toys for Bob sent to the Call of Duty gulag? (Absorbed to just doing Call of Duty.)
I'd be surprised to see more Crash since Activision basically said I think Crash 4 didn't sell?
'A four player brawler'

Uh oh.
If this is true, then Crash literally said "Yeah, well I'm gonna go build my own Smash Bros.! With blackjack! And hookers!"
@Anti-Matter Surely the winner being unpredictable means that it’s quite literally not unfair for you? As in, that’s the very premise of a game. There’s winners and losers.
Calling it now- they go full Sonic Unleashed with Crash in a battle-royal (limited to 4 players) where Crash and friends airdrop into an open-world map filled with side quests, collectibles and tokens that can be exchanged for real world money that can be spent only on NFTs via Activision's online hub when you provide them with a valid email and 2-step authentication, as well as your firstborn child. But the (VR only) demo is free for the first hour.
I hope that Spyro gets a new game instead. Crash already got a sequel. Also I just like Spyro a lot more.
People forgot that since Microsoft owns the IP now this may or may not come to Switch.
Oh God not one of these. Those Mutant games were awful, well to me anyway. Crash 5 I would love but not this.
@Serpenterror that deal won't go through until next year though so Activision are still making multiplatform games for likely a few more years at least given dev cycles, contacts and the like.
Crash bash remake would be good, but I get the feeling it's going to be yet another smash clone
>Resurrecting Crash just to kill him a second time
Whoah...
It's gotta be Wumpa League. There's undeniable proof that game exists. I'm looking forward to the reveal after all this time, though I don't know if it will be for me. I really just want to hear about a Spyro 4 or some ports of old Crash games like Twinsanity and Wrath of Cortex. That'd make me quite a happy boy.
@Serpenterror Microsoft is a third-party now.
Plus, Activision's games will probably not be converted to Xbox exclusives just like Minecraft wasn't.
Wumpa league then.
I'd rather have a new spyro
Xbox exclusive
A Smash or Power Stone clone would be a fun fit for the Crashverse. Alas, much as I love the Bandicoot, I’m not at all comfortable with giving my money to Activision Blizzard as they currently are.
They're making a Crash Bash sequel?
@victordamazio probably not but I am guessing at least a few of them will be at least Xbox exclusive.
Also if Playstation or Nintendo were to buy a studio with well known IPs, and they make those studio's games exclusive, then MS will just make the Activision games exclusive to Xbox.
@aznable quite a scary look into what video gaming will turn into in the future if you ask me
@nessisonett
I oftenly lost during Versus 4 players from ARMS unless the other players keep busy hitting each others and I moved very far away to avoid the brawl until only me and 1 player left, so I can have a fair fight 1 vs 1.
@Anti-Matter But that’s the opposite of fair then? You can only have a fair fight if you go against the entire point of a 4 player game?
Sick of Crash and his generic linear platforming gameplay getting all of the attention, I want to see more Spyro. At least Spyro's gliding gameplay is somewhat unique for sandbox platformers.
I need to see it in action first but a multiplayer game sounds like a pass for me.
Nice that Crash will continue getting more games but I rather have a new Spyro game.
@Serpenterror it won't be exclusive to Xbox.
@TexanBanjo Wow an Third! Banjo wow
I was gonna say this, but @Not_Soos beat me to it, I also think it’s Wumpa league, I mean really what else could it be, they been hinting at it for almost a year now.
Also crash got his time, bring on the Spyro 5!
A multiplayer brawler isn't really what I want from a Crash game. Hope it sell though, so that they'll continue to keep the Crash series alive.
C'mon, no Spyro 4? It was even teased in the art book. That's the only thing I care about seeing from Toys for Bob right now.
@Anti-Matter "I oftenly lost during Versus 4 players from ARMS unless the other players keep busy hitting each others and I moved very far away to avoid the brawl until only me and 1 player left, so I can have a fair fight 1 vs 1"
LOL, that's my technique in 4 player Smash Bros online! I hide and try to keep a low profile and let them all beat each other up, lol, then jump in later
So this is that Wumpa League game?
@Captain_Toad for some reason, people saw “toys for bob working on call of duty” and immediately jumped to the conclusion that crash was dead
Which is ridiculous because toys for bob are a large enough studio to work on multiple things at once, e.g. porting the n sane trilogy to switch while also developing Spyro reignited.
And they have been teasing fans about this project for quite some time. Hints to it even showed up subtly in a PlayStation state of play a while back, after they had been work on cod.
Don't want a remaster of crash bash I want another proper single player game or a remake of tag team racing I think spyro should get a new game first though since crash got nitro fueled & crash 4 after the n sane trilogy
I just hope it’s free to play multiplayer.
@Anti-Matter Isn’t camping and fighting the player that fought the longer battle quite the opposite of a fair fight? The randomness is what makes it fair, not predictability.
@Ramen756
I don't like the randomness in video games as I never enjoy being lost by randomness.
Crash Bash 2 CONFIRMED 😱😱😱😱 BY MICROSOFT EMPLOYEE...
Seriously though, if it's Crash Bash then I'll be laughing in my tears.
I don't think I'll will be much interested in a brawler, but we'll see. However, Toys for bob are now toiling away at those awful Cod games. So I don't expect anything from them.
@Anti-Matter that’s fine - it’s just that adding more variables to an equation doesn’t make things more or or less fair, it just makes it an inconvenience for you.
Incidentally, I’m the opposite. I hate predictability in video games. I get the most joy from the moments I’m blindsided by a critical hit or a surprising story twist.
Just do a Crash Bash remake with both offline and online multiplayer.
I heard rumours about a game called Wumpa League for the past months. Maybe it will be that game.
The Wumpa League game was supposed to launch late last year as a tie-in game to Crash Bandicoot 4. Toys For Bob being forced to provide technical support for Call of Duty Warzone likely made them cancel that plan and reboot this game into something else.
I personally wouldn't play a Crash game like that, I am not the biggest Crash fan but the ones I like are just the classic 3D platformers, any time you through multiplayer into the mix it waters down the gameplay imo, not that there aren't fun multiplayer games.
